We are delighted to have Keira Andrews with us today on the blog. We are all now in Winter Olympic fever no doubt and Keira talks about her love of figure skating and how this relates to her new release The Winning Edge. Go check it out………

Top Five Skaters to Watch in Pyeongchang

I’m a massive figure skating fan who follows the sport every year, and I’m so excited that the Olympics are underway! My new release, The Winning Edge, is an enemies-to-lovers romance about the two top male pairs skaters—one American, one Russian. (This story is set in a fictional universe without doping violations and Russian athletes competing under a neutral flag.) Can what starts as hate sex bloom into true love? :D

To celebrate the Olympic opening ceremony today, I thought I’d do my list of the top five skaters/teams to keep your eye on over the next two weeks. There are so many fabulous teams from all over the world, so this was a hard list to make! Without further ado…

5. Adam Rippon; USA

Adam is fierce and fabulous (and one of the very few openly gay competitive skaters—something my characters struggle with). He struggles to do quads and isn’t a medal contender, and I think he should take out his quad Lutz attempt and just skate clean and beautifully at the Olympics. Crossing my fingers and toes!

4. Kaetlyn Osmond; Canada

Has the best women’s short program of the season, IMHO. Her jumps are huge and powerful—not under-rotations here—and she’s just a delight. She broke her leg in training a few years ago and never thought she’d skate again. She’s the current world silver medalist. Russians Medvedeva and Zagitova will likely be duking it out for gold, but I’m rooting hard for Kaetlyn to make the podium.

3. Yuzuru Hanyu

Reigning Olympic gold medalist and world champion. He injured himself badly in November, and I’m crossing fingers and toes (and eyes if it helps!) that he will be able to compete in Korea. He is a rock star in Japan and such a beautiful skater. It just wouldn’t be the same without him!

2. Sui and Han; China

Tiny and fierce. They are the reigning world champs, and if they skate their best will be tough to beat, although there are several other top teams at their heels. Two seasons ago, she had to have surgery on both her ankles, and they weren’t sure she’d ever skate again. He was devoted to her and literally carried her around when she couldn’t walk, and moved in and cooked for her, etc. She’s had jump issues at times this season, so we’ll see what happens, but they are just a gorgeous pair.

1. Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir; Canada

Simply the best. They’ve skated together for 20 years since they were little kids, and I just adore them. It’s going to be a close battle for gold with France’s excellent team of Papadakis/Cizeron, and I will be rooting so hard for Tessa and Scott.

Can figure skating enemies find love off the ice?

After an explosive locker room confrontation with his Russian rival ends in the most intense sex of his life, American pairs skater Dev Avira is distracted to say the least. He's worked for years to have a chance at Olympic gold, and he can’t let himself—or his partner—down. Playing cat and mouse with the steely and smoldering Mikhail Reznikov is the last thing he needs as he prepares for the biggest competition of his life, but they can’t keep their hands off each other as the Games approach.

Dev soon learns that beneath Mikhail’s arrogant and aloof exterior is Misha, a passionate man who warms Dev’s heart and scorches his bed. They’re both determined to win, but for Misha his freedom could be at stake if he and his partner take anything less than gold. Who will stand atop the podium? And can secret lovers from different worlds make a life together once the competition ends?

This gay sports romance from Keira Andrews features enemies to lovers, two alpha men, sequins, and of course a happy ending. Content previously published as novellas Cold War and Holding the Edge.

Meet Keira Andrews

Keira Andrews author pic 300x300After writing for years yet never really finding the right inspiration, Keira discovered her voice in gay romance, which has become a passion. She writes contemporary, historical, paranormal, and fantasy fiction, and—although she loves delicious angst along the way—Keira firmly believes in happy endings. For as Oscar Wilde once said, “The good ended happily, and the bad unhappily. That is what fiction means.”
