Blog Tour: An Unexpected Truth by S.A. Meade. Includes Excerpt & Giveaway

We are delighted to welcome S.A. Meade to Sinfully today as she celebrates the release of An Unexpected Truth.

Here’s a little excerpt from An Unexpected Truth. As it’s quite toasty warm where I live, and might be toasty warm where you are, I thought a little scene set just before Christmas might cool everyone off.

I always seem to end up with winter scenes in my stories!

I hope you like it. :)

“Boss.” Wahid poked his head round the stable door. “Dr. Ahmadi is here.”

Brendan straightened and pocketed the hoof pick. Something inside him lifted at the news. “Already? What time is it?”

Wahid glanced at his phone. “Five-thirty.”

“Bloody hell. Where does the time go? Have you fed them all?”

“Yes, boss. Everyone is fed and rugged up.”

“Then I guess we can call it a night.” He turned out the stable light and fastened the bolt. “See you tomorrow morning. Just hay and water, so we shouldn’t be too long.”

“Suits me.” Wahid grinned.

Brendan glanced past him, at Adam strolling toward the yard. The spotlight caught the errant raindrops in his hair, turning them to silver. His breath rose in a mist. He greeted the departing Wahid then walked on. Brendan stood, frozen into immobility, feeling shy and stupid. Never mind the phone calls and the texts. It was entirely different when the object of your affections and daydreams materialized out of the sleety night.

“Hello.” Ahmadi, no…Adam—he had to remember that—smiled and lifted his hand to Brendan’s cheek. “It’s good to see you.”

“It’s good to see you too.” Brendan covered Adam’s cold hand with his own, wanting to kiss along the fine line of that scar.

“Are we alone? Can I kiss you? I haven’t been able to stop thinking about that last kiss.”

“Yes. There’s only Naz and Wahid here, and they’ve finished for the day.”

Adam stepped close, close enough that Brendan felt the warmth of him. He closed his eyes as Adam kissed him—a sweet, hot kiss full of promise. The low-burning furnace that was Brendan’s slumbering libido suddenly sparked into life.

“Merry Christmas.” Adam stood back.

“And…and to you. That was quite the greeting.”

“I guess I missed you.”

“Well, let me close things up here, then we’ll go and get warm.”

Brendan locked the tack room with trembling hands then turned out the yard lights. Sleet touched his cheeks, but he didn’t care. Adam was there. It was Christmas and it was going to be a good one. They hurried across the gravel. The porch light cast a golden glow, picking out the snowflakes in the sleet. Brendan flung the door open then pulled Adam in behind him. He shut the door, slid the lock home and, by the time he’d turned around, Adam had flung his jacket onto the coat rack.

“It’s really good to be here. Thanks for inviting me. I’d been invited elsewhere, but it wasn’t an invitation I wanted to accept. It would’ve been dire. I would much rather be here.”

Brendan discarded his coat and fumbled to put it on the hook. Adam’s kiss had left him flustered, wanting more and not knowing how to ask for it. But it was enough that he was there. The rest would surely follow.
