Luca McGrath may be returning to Napa Valley, California, as a promising chef with dreams of starting his own restaurant and winery, but his heart still lives with the bad-boy son of a billionaire, James Armstrong. Luca spent his childhood playing games with the golden boy of California society, so blinded by James he barely noticed the dark, quiet lure of his conservative older brother, Dylan Armstrong.

But now Luca’s home, and his own powers of attraction are enough to make James question his dedicated heterosexuality and his promised marriage to a wealthy and powerful businesswoman. The obvious attraction between Luca and James spurs Dylan into action—but he’s fighting a huge secret. While Luca dreamed of James, Dylan dreamed of Luca. When Luca gets caught in the struggle between the brothers and gets accused of culinary espionage he’s ready to chuck the fairy tale—unable to even imagine Dylan’s power to make his dreams come true.

Freya’s Book Brief

They played together as children but came from different worlds. The son of one of the wealthiest families in the US, and the their chauffeur’s son. But, there’s a twist. There’s three in this tale. James and Luca were childhood best friends; both looked up to James’s older brother Dylan. But, who loves who? And which two will find love?

Growing up, James was and is out there. He’s the playboy who enjoys anything beautiful. Luca has loved James since… forever. No one else measures up. But, James is straight. Who looks after everyone? That fell to the dependable, responsible man in the background, Dylan. He deals with the messes of his younger brother and takes the company forward. Dylan is almost the Mr. Darcy of his family; only there’s no sour faced Lady Catherine lingering in the background. He fights his corner in the boardroom, but not in his bedroom.

When Luca returns home, a grown man, everyone with a hormone, no matter their orientation, stands to attention. Dylan has feelings for Luca, but Luca only had eyes for James and Dylan never featured in any of Luca’s fantasies. On the other side, James has a fiancée, but Luca’s beauty has him making a play for Luca.

Well, what can I say about this story without giving the game away? The story revolves around Luca, the talented chef. But for me, it is Dylan who steals the limelight. There is something about Dylan that oozes panty dropping sex appeal. From early on I got the impression that one would remember a night with James for a few months, but would remember a night with Dylan forever. I soo enjoyed every scene with Dylan in it – I believe I could class myself as smitten. I could happily read a story from Dylan’s perspective all on its own. And a livid, protective Dylan is daaauuummmm.

The melee between James, Luca and Dylan is a slow burn, and part of me wanted the story to move faster. But, then I’d have read less Dylan. Wanting to know who would end up with who kept me turning each page. Some of my emotions got a workout too. I wanted to slap one, hug one, cry with another, shoot someone and go out drinking with many of them.
