Lieutenant Apollo Floros can ace tactical training missions, but being a single dad to his twin daughters is more than he can handle. He needs live-in help, and he's lucky a friend's younger brother needs a place to stay. He's surprised to see Dylan all grown up with a college degree…and a college athlete's body. Apollo's widowed heart may still be broken, but Dylan has his blood heating up.

It's been eight years since the teenage Dylan followed Apollo around like a lovesick puppy, and it's time he showed Lieutenant Hard-to-Please that he's all man now—an adult who's fully capable of choosing responsibility over lust. He can handle Apollo's muscular sex appeal, but Apollo the caring father? Dylan can't afford to fall for that guy. He's determined to hold out for someone who's able to love him back, not someone who only sees him as a kid brother.

Apollo is shocked by the intensity of his attraction to Dylan. Maybe some no-strings summer fun will bring this former SEAL back to life. But the combination of scorching desire and warm affection is more than he'd expected, and the emotion between them scares him senseless. No fling lasts forever, and Apollo will need to decide what's more important—his past or his future—if he wants to keep Dylan in his life.

Lisa’s Review

At Attention is the second book in Annabeth Albert’s series entitled Out of Uniform. The series started off as a spin-off from her #gaymers series, particularly the last book in the series entitled Connection Error. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of this author and with each new book she releases I think she just gets better and better. Seriously, giddiness ensues with a new Annabeth Albert book! Her books tell emotional, fun and heart-warming stories that leave you happily sighing in romance lala land. This book was no exception from her norm. Further, we are dealing with military men here. WHOOT! From the first page I was hooked and wanted to see just how things would play out between the two seemingly opposite protagonists who have some major hurdles to overcome.

Lieutenant Apollo Floros is a navy SEAL that has made a couple of appearances in previous books. He’s a widow trying to keep his head above water and his world meticulously organized as he cares for his young twin girls and deals with the pressures of his demanding career. When his mother, the one person he relies on for help with his daughters, decides to go away for the summer, Apollo knows that he needs to hire some help. Dylan is the younger brother of Apollo’s best friend. He had a massive crush on Apollo in his teen years and somehow the attraction he feels has not dimmed over the years. The pair have not seen one another for a number of year so when Dylan comes back to town all grown up and complete with a college degree it somehow takes Apollo by surprise. Gone is the young teen who used to follow him around with a love-sick look in his eyes. When Apollo reluctantly agrees to have Dylan help him out with his twin girls over the summer, Dylan knows he must keep his libido and his heart in check.

With Apollo and Dylan in such close proximity to one another there is no denying that the attraction Dylan feels is reciprocated. Too bad the stubborn SEAL is a tough nut to crack. There is no denying that Apollo is interested in Dylan, not when his heated gaze sends shivers down Dylan’s spine. However, Apollo is in denial and would never admit his attraction (not even to himself). After all, he’s so immersed in this world of guilt that he sees no way out. He’s not what Dylan needs and Apollo certainly should not be entertaining any ideas about giving into the sizzling connection he has for the younger man.

Apollo and Dylan seem to be at very different stages in their lives; however, they seem to mesh well as Dylan proves to Apollo just how invaluable his help is. When our two protagonists finally do give in to what is transpiring between them, both guys have no idea just how powerful and real their connection would be. Falling for someone is always a scary thing, especially when the person you are falling for may not be on the same page. With so much standing in their way, do Apollo and Dylan stand a chance before they even get started?

I loved the fact that while Apollo and Dylan may have been outwardly different and certainly led very dissimilar lives, they grounded each other and seemed to fill a void that was missing in each of their lives. Despite their obvious dissimilarities, they just seemed to work and brought out the best in each other. Both men are certainly taken aback by just how profound their feelings for one another become. Certainly something they both are unable to walk away from. Damn the repercussions! It doesn’t really work that way though, particularly when Apollo has yet to fully come to terms with the death of his husband. Also, what would his best friend think about Apollo getting all cozy with his younger brother?

This was a tender, sweet and sexy tale as we watch the two men who may have not been expecting to feel so much for the each other become everything to one another. All in all, At Attention was a wonderful start to this series. I love how real and different the characters this author creates seem to be. Apollo and Dylan were no exception. They had their flaws but in the end all that matters is finding someone who accepts you, the good and the bad. Someone who wants you to fulfill your dreams and perhaps make some new ones with you. Someone that will fight for you and not be ashamed. This is definitely a series to check out for lovers of the M/M genre. Highly recommended.

After trading the barracks for a fixer-upper rental, navy SEAL Zack Nelson wants peace, not a roommate—especially not Pike, who sees things about Zack he most wants to hide. Pike's flirting puts virgin Zack on edge. And the questions Pike's arrival would spark from Zack's teammates about his own sexuality? Nope. Not going there. But Zack can't refuse.

Pike Reynolds knows there won't be a warm welcome in his new home. What can he say? He's an acquired taste. But he needs this chance to get his life together. Also, teasing the uptight SEAL will be hella fun. Still, Pike has to tread carefully; he's had his fill of tourists in the past, and he can't risk his heart on another, not even one as hot, as built—and, okay, yeah, as adorable—as Zack.

Living with Pike crumbles Zack's restraint and fuels his curiosity. He discovers how well they fit together in bed…in the shower…in the hallway… He needs Pike more than he could have imagined, yet he doesn't know how to be the man Pike deserves.
