Rockin’ Read Aloud Tour: JA Rock Reads from The Grand Ballast. Includes Giveaway

JA Rock

We are thrilled to have the lovely JA Rock with us today reading from The Grand Ballast which was a Five Star Recommended Read for us here at Sinfully. This is a fabulous video author reading from JA… go check it out!

Hi! I’m J.A. Rock, and welcome to the Rockin’ Read Aloud Tour—where once a week, a super awesome romance blog hosts a video of me reading aloud from my backlist. Thanks so much to Sinfully for hosting me today, where I’m reading from The Grand Ballast.

I loved writing The Grand Ballast. It was complicated and stressful and weird, but it was one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on. And reading aloud from it ended up being just as fun—both because I got to be an entire circus, and because Kilroy ended up sounding kind of like Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood. It was extremely difficult not to throw in the line “I’m an oil man” while recording.

The plot of this one is a bit involved, so if you already know the story, I highly recommend skipping to 3:25 in the video to avoid my rambling summary.

I’ll be giving away a copy of The Grand Ballast, so comment on this post if you’d like a chance to win! You can follow the tour at the stops listed below. There will be a giveaway at each stop.

Grab your giant wineglass and let’s head to a bleak and creepy but sort of hopeful future!

The Grand Ballast by J.A. Rock

The Grand Ballast Front Cover Final

Published ~ 29th June 2015

Genre ~ Dark Erotic M/M Romance, non con.

In a future where live sex shows abound to keep a jaded population entertained, dancer Bode Martin falls for the brilliant and unstable Kilroy Ballast, who molds Bode into the star attraction of his erotic circus, the Grand Ballast. Drugged beyond any real feeling, Bode trades freedom and his once considerable pride for an illusion of tenderness—until he inadvertently rescues a young man from a rival show, and together they flee to an eccentric town in the west where love still means something.
Valen’s not an easy man to know, and Bode shed his romantic notions under Kilroy’s brutal employ. Yet their growing bond becomes a strange and dangerous salvation as they attempt to overthrow the shadows of their pasts and wade together through a world of regret, uncertainty, beauty, and terror.
But Kilroy won't let Bode go so easily. Long ago, Bode was responsible for the loss of something Kilroy held dear, and he still owes Kilroy a debt. As the three men battle toward a tangled destiny, Bode must decide if his love for Valen is worth fighting for—or if he was and always will be a pawn in the story Kilroy Ballast will never stop telling.
WARNING: Contains violence and noncon. Not a genre romance.
