Their love is forbidden, but their hearts aren’t listening to rules and regulations…
Lieutenant Dustin Strauss is a reformed man. No longer a twentysomething hell-raiser, he’s his SEAL team’s new XO—and a man with a secret. Or seven. He’s kept his bisexual identity under wraps for years, along with his kinky side and a fondness for the military-themed semianonymous hookup website Joe4Joe. His latest chat buddy is more than a sexy online distraction—they’re taking their very not-safe-for-work relationship into real time.
Petty Officer Wes Lowe has a smart mouth, a take-charge attitude and an uncanny ability for making things go boom. The life of an enlisted man isn’t always enough to satisfy him, but one wild, no-questions-asked weekend with his online love comes close. When a transfer order comes in, Wes feels ready and centered. He’ll make a good impression on his new SEAL team and keep his growing feelings for Dustin on the down low.
But as they log more time online and some very real emotions surface, Dustin and Wes struggle to pretend they’re just a harmless fling. And when his commander introduces Dustin to his team’s newest member, they’re in for the shock of a lifetime…and a crushing disappointment: their difference in ranks means even a friendship without sexual contact could end their navy careers for good.
With their hearts on the line, Dustin and Wes may not survive their next mission, let alone find a way toward a future together.

Lisa’s Review

Wheels Up is the fourth book in Annabeth Albert’s series entitled Out of Uniform. The series started off as a spin-off from her #gaymers series, particularly the last book in the series entitled Connection Error. It is no secret that I am a huge fan of this author and with each new book she releases I think she just gets better and better. Seriously, giddiness ensues with a new Annabeth Albert book! Her books tell emotional, fun and heart-warming stories that leave you happily sighing in romance lala land. This book was no exception from her norm. Further, we are dealing with military men here. WHOOT! From the first page I was hooked and wanted to see just how things would play out in this forbidden love story.

Lieutenant Dustin Strauss finally gets his story. He’s a hard-edged SEAL bad-ass who has kept his bisexual identity a secret for years. With a penchant for some things kinky, Dustin has always been about anonymity when it comes to his sexual hook-ups. Dustin’s latest online “chat buddy” is Officer Wes Lowe, an explosives expert. The pair chat online for a while before deciding to take a chance and meet. After all, they are compatible. Dustin needs to be submissive in the bedroom while Wes gets off on being the one to take charge. Neither man was expecting the explosions that go off between them to take on a life of their own. How can their one lust-filled experience be enough?

Dustin and Wes are doomed from the start. No matter how strong their emotional and physical connection is, there is no way a commanding officer can fraternize with anyone in the military much less a subordinate. A friendship between the two is even off the table. Falling for someone is always a scary thing, especially when the person you are falling for is completely forbidden. With so much standing in their way, do Dustin and Wes stand a chance?

I loved the fact that Dustin and Wes grounded each other and seemed to fill a void in each of their lives. Both men gave each other what they needed and they just seemed to work and brought out the best in each other. Dustin and Wes are certainly taken aback by just how profound their feelings for one another become. I couldn’t see how they would make it work without sacrificing their careers and my heart broke for the two lovers.

This was a tender, sweet and sexy tale with a side of kink. It is about two protagonists who may have not been expecting to feel so much for the each other but become everything to one another. All in all, Wheels Up was a wonderful addition to this series. I love how real and different the characters this author creates seem to be. Dustin and Wes were no exception. They had their flaws but in the end all that matters is finding someone who accepts you, the good and the bad. Someone who wants you to fulfill your dreams and perhaps make some new ones with you. Someone that will fight for you and not be ashamed. This is definitely a series to check out for lovers of the M/M genre. Highly recommended.

Also, teasing the uptight SEAL will be hella fun. But the combination of scorching desire and warm affection is more than he'd expected, and the emotion between them scares him senseless.
