Synopsis

Journalism student Gabe Martin gets his first professional assignment—to write about a Christmas charity dinner that benefits a children’s home. It sounds like a total snooze-fest until Gabe learns that the event’s Santa is a mystery man. He shows up in costume and no one has a clue who he is. Uncovering Santa’s identity sounds like the perfect angle to turn a fluff piece into serious journalism.
Mack “The Mountain” McDonall, at 6’10”, is University of Wisconsin-Madison’s enormous star wrestler. When Gabe first claps eyes on him at a wrestling match, it’s lust at first sight. Gabe’s friend, Jordan, sets up the pair on a date. But when Gabe chatters on about his plans for outing Santa, Mack goes cold, and their first meeting becomes an epic fail.
As Gabe researches the children’s home, he learns that Mack has secrets a guy famous for being a brute wouldn’t want the world to know. Can Gabe find his holiday spirit, write a killer article, win the heart of a surly giant, and give everyone a very merry Christmas?

Lisa’s Review

Desperately Seeking Santa by Eli Easton is a stand-alone holiday romantic tale. It is no secret that I am an enormous fan of this author. I mean…. a GIGANTIC fan-girl! This book is yet another heart-warming gem by Ms. Easton that had me smiling ridiculously huge! There’s always a little magic in the air when it comes to the Christmas season and, sometimes it’s that winter magic that can help two individuals find love with the last person they expected.

Gabe Martin is a journalism student who finally gets his first professional writing assignment. His task is to write a holiday story about a charity dinner benefit for a home for children in need. This sounds like the most boring story of all time until Gabe discovers that a mystery Santa attends the dinner every year for the children. He is determined to find out who this Santa is and turn his story into something more intriguing.

Gabe’s mind is taken off his story writing woes when his friend Jordan makes him attend a wrestling match, something Gabe is seriously not into. And, yes… this is the Jordan from Ms. Easton’s book Superhero. We get to catch up with Jordan and Owen which is a pleasant surprise. Anyways, Gabe’s interest in wrestling does a complete one-eighty when he becomes awestruck by one of the wrestlers – a huge goliath appropriately named Mack “the Mountain” McDonall. Now Gabe is having visions of climbing a certain mountain. Mack seems to return his interest until his finds out about the article Gabe is writing. Can Gabe convince Mack to give him a chance and still pursue the story he has already pitched to his boss?

I really enjoyed this sugary tale of love with little angst and moderate steam levels. Both characters were endearing and I could not help but root for their relationship. I fell so in love with both men. Seriously. Gah! They both simply melted my heart as they began to open up to one another and finally acknowledge that what was between them was something special and profound. Those moments of vulnerability between Gabe and Mack played havoc on my romantic heart. I wanted so desperately for our two protagonists to get their holiday-made happy forever. Such a beautiful romance that had my heart fluttering.

This is a wonderfully executed holiday romance by Ms. Easton. It’s is not bogged down with unnecessary over-the-top angst and drama. What you get is a sweet, fun and light-hearted love story that will leave you happily sighing and clutching your heart. My only complaint is that I wanted more. LOL! I guess that’s just me being selfish! ;)
