Lisa’s Book Brief

The Half Wolf is author Jay Northcote’s newest stand-alone novel. This also marks his first attempt at the paranormal genre. I am a big fan of this author and was definitely intrigued to see where he would take this shifter story. This was a sexy, low-angst love story about two individuals who were certainly not expecting each other. What can be hotter than the forbidden? Hmmmm??? Perhaps inappropriate sexy times. ;)

Quinn and Kellan meet when Kellan’s nomadic shifter pack settles on the outskirts of the small town Quinn calls home. It is definitely lust at first sight; however, with the relationship between humans and shifters being strained, both Kellan and Quinn know that nothing can become of pursuing their mutual attraction. Soon enough, the bond between our two protagonists becomes too much to ignore. They both are unprepared for the strength of the bond that begins to develop between them. When things go awry in town and Kellan’s pack finds themselves at odds with the town residents, can Kellan and Quinn stand together. Their relationship is forbidden. Will their love be enough?

I loved how Quinn and Kellan could not help but to fall into one another - the desire, the inexplicable passion. Once our two protagonists dive head first into a physical relationship, it does not take too long for them to reveal how they truly feel about one another the progression of their relationship is natural and sweet despite the uncertainties. Kellan and Quinn are so certain they belong together. But, how can they make it work when mating is forbidden? The pair have certain obstacles to overcome and have a bit to work out and their happy forever is not going to come super easy; however, they both know real when they see it and what they share is worth the fight.

I really did enjoy reading The Half Wolf and I hope that this author continues to write more shifter romances. This was a wonderful romance with a bit of an edge, a book that left me happily sighing by the end. Plus, it was hot! Bonus!!
