Book four in the Redwood Shifters series

When two become three, it’s guaranteed the earth will move.
Patrick’s life with his shifter mate Greg is idyllic. In love and lust, they exist in a wonderful bubble of contentment and satisfaction in the Redwood Forest, giving in to their needs and desires whenever the mood takes them.
Until one day Patrick stumbles across a wild dog. His wounds are shocking, but it’s even more sickening how he got them.
Neither Patrick nor Greg can abandon the poor creature and they take him into their home and their hearts. But when the new addition to their family turns out to be so much more than a dog, can they act on what their bodies are crying out for? Will a third man in their relationship upset the applecart? He certainly thinks it will and it seems he’ll need convincing otherwise.
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of voyeurism, some injury description and references to violent assault.

Sue’s Book Brief

This is the fourth story in the enjoyable Redwood Shifters series.  I particularly liked how Lily shows us the strong sensual connection that already exists between human Patrick and shifter Greg before the third came on the scene. We see they are in love and have been for the past five years.  Their sex life is still active. The two mates seem to be perfectly content with each other and we are treated to a couple of passionate  scenes.

When Carlos enters their life the immediate attraction to him causes all sorts of emotional issues and doubts to creep in, especially for Patrick (the POV character). Carlos is mentioned in the previous two stories with regard to the Rocky Mountain Pack, but not in relation to Patrick and Greg. He’s a loner and doesn’t want to come between the established couple and upset their happy existence. They can’t escape the fact that the three men are destined to be mates. Being a short story there’s little page space given to the development of this new relationship. Everything happens pretty swiftly over a couple of chapters and culminates in a threesome scene. Fated mates and shifter magic can explain the suddenness of it all, but everything is not plain-sailing for them.

Lily’s writing flows nicely and her stories are easy to follow. The stories in this series are short and erotic with the right amount of plot and character depth for the length of them. I just felt in this story Patrick and Greg needed more page time getting to know Carlos.
