Choosing the best girlfriends…

Most of my books have strong female characters that balance out my men. In Warrior Nights, it was Trace’s sister Brodie. Brodie is Trace’s twin, the woman who he left behind and went to war to fight for, the same woman who becomes the focus of a serial killer intent on adding her to his stable of wives (dead ones). Brodie is the one who insists that Trace get help with his alcohol dependency, something that is a pivotal focus in the book. She puts her foot down and bonds with Kyle, a man whose become Brodie’s best friend in her brother’s absence. When she learns Kyle is gay, she plays matchmaker with him and her twin. Without Brodie believing in him, Trace would have died.

Paisley Meadowlark, Wendell Blackowl’s best friend in Buttermilk Ranch, also played matchmaker. She was Dell’s touchstone and had played his beard for many years, the only person on earth who knew the handsome cowboy was gay. Paisley was Dell’s pretend girlfriend but she was unique in that she didn’t mind it one bit. They grew up together and in any other world than a Patricia Logan book, they would have married. Both Native American and both beautiful, they would have made a fine couple had Dell not been gay. In the end, it was Paisley who pushed Dell to go out with Pace, the city boy he’d never expected he’d fall for. Paisley found her own cowboy once she’d made sure Dell would be all right. That’s true love.

In a couple of cases, my female sidekicks have gotten their own love stories. Pepper Rawlings, my adorable British Goth from Undercover Nights, eventually got her own story in Silver Secrets. I loved her and I felt she deserved her own men—in her case two—who fell in love with each other as well. I also wrote a story for Jenny, Maverick’s best friend in The Cowboy Queen. Jenny fell in love with her own cowboy, Rand, a Dom at Invitation Only, and his biker lover, Wyatt from the book of the same name.

Then there was Jules from The Superstar. Jules is one of these incredible people who is larger than life which was just what Storm Ellison, my sweet superstar, needed. Storm was a party boy. He needed a girl like Jules to keep up with him. Jules was the perfect hag. She followed Storm around to gay bars, pointing out the cute boys, and encouraging him to shop like a madman. They hit the malls and the clubs together, but most of the time, they hung out at Storm’s pool and had deep and meaningful talks about their futures. Jules is young and happy and a bubbly nutcase who laughs all the time—just the kind of girl Storm needed.

There are many others but I can’t let you go without talking a little bit about Sarah Connor (The Terminator). Sarah has been Thayne Wolfe’s best friend for ten years. She works with Thayne at the ATF, though she’s partnered with Tim Darcy. But, really and truly, she’s probably more like Jarrett Evans than anyone in their work group. Sarah is beautiful but she’s not conceited. The only thing she does know is that she’s nearly as good a marksman as Jarrett, a trained Marine sniper.

In fact, Sarah is a fucking BADASS. If she hadn’t joined the ATF because of her love of guns, she would have joined the military and kicked some serious ass there. I adore her character because she’s better than most every guy on the team and she’s good and true and loyal. What better can you ask for when writing a ‘girl’ in a gay book? I’ve probably gotten more email and reviews mentioning Sarah than any other female (non-lead character) that I’ve ever written. Boy, people love reading about a strong female. Sarah definitely qualifies. Besides, the scene in Tombstone Tactical (In Thunder and Lightning) pretty much defines who she is to these men but most of all, to herself.

Sarah is one unique woman and very special to my heart. I don’t like simpering wallflowers for my guys. As one friend told me, that’s just not right. LOL. Never fear, there are many more to come…

Genre ~  Contemporary M/M Romance

Synopsis

Jarrett Evans and Thayne Wolfe have been partnered in the ATF for nearly two years and their love and commitment to each other has grown over time. Now faced with one final challenge, the boys are headed to Arizona to help Thayne’s mom, stumbling headfirst into a brand new case. When a man is shot on Dot’s sister’s ranch, their informal investigation leads to the Native American reservation bordering the property.
Juggling tricky tribal politics isn’t something Jarrett and Thayne are accustomed to but, as with most things in their lives, nothing is ever uncomplicated. When a surprise sighting shakes Thayne to his very foundation, they call out for help and their colleagues ride to the rescue along with a little help from the FBI. The mystery on the reservation only deepens when they start putting two and two together. Questionable cigarettes at the Ahtunowhiho Trading Post may be the least of their worries.
From the mean streets of Los Angeles to the vast deserts of Arizona, Thayne and Jarrett once again brave the minefields of bad guys, bigshots, and a vicious betrayal that kicks them in the ass. But one thing is certain. Thru thunder and lightning, Jarrett and Thayne are never alone. They’ll fight for each other down to the last man standing, even if it costs them their very lives.

    1. I would love your review, Bonnie 💋 and I hope you muck your way through the rest. There are a lot of crossover characters so it's best to read them in order. The reading list is in the back of each book. You're right. There are a lot of them lol
