Malachi O'Rourke spends his years as president of the Disciples of the Road cleaning up his father's mess, grieving a broken heart, and protecting the men under his charge. Sawyer Malone hasn't had it easy either since joining the Scorpions. While paying back a personal debt for his club seems gratifying on the surface, he ends up sacrificing way more than he bargained for.
When Mal recognizes that Sawyer is struggling, he offers him needed support. Something about the man's quiet strength stirs deeply inside him. Sawyer knows he shouldn't rely on the solace Mal provides, but he's been the only ray of light in an otherwise bleak few months. So after a tender moment passes between the men, they simply chalk it up to their newfound friendship.
Besides, no one will ever measure up to Mal's former old lady and Sawyer's just been through his own tragic ordeal. But when they're thrust together for a weekend event involving both of their clubs, they can no longer deny their attraction. Except time-honored loyalties and hard-fought tradition will not only force them to risk their standing--but also gamble with their hearts.
The Faintest Spark is a novella in Christina Lee’s Roadmap to Your Heart series. We get Mal’s story which was an unexpected surprise. Keep in mind this book is part of a series. It can be read as a stand-alone but I think you would get a greater reading experience if you have read at least book one in this series. This was a novella that I truly enjoyed reading. This author has proven to me that she can write some seriously wonderful M/M contemporary romance. In my personal opinion, I think that Ms. Lee once again did a great job penning a low-angst and tender-hearted tale about two men who find their sizzling connection too hard to ignore.
Malachi O’Rourke is the president of the Disciples of the Road. He’s taken on a lot cleaning up his father’s debacles as the former president and he takes the protection of his men very seriously. Sawyer Malone has proven his worth and undertook a huge assignment for his MC, the Scorpions. Sawyer is struggling with all that he had to do for his club. His own president doesn’t see this; however, Mal can see how Sawyer is quietly suffering and can’t help but want to offer his support. After all, Sawyer also helped the Disciples with his undercover mission.
The two men develop a friendship as Sawyer accepts the support Mal is offering. Something unexpected begins to build between the two men, something more than friendship. Mal has never had feelings other than friendship towards another man so he is taken aback with this connection he shares with Sawyer. The men slowly begin to give in and head down that bumpy road of lust and attraction. Coming out and being open about what is developing between them is certainly not an option for an MC president and a biker from another club. Sure there has been a little more acceptance when it comes the MC world, but Mal and Sawyer are risking a lot if they are discovered or decide to openly come out. Will both men risk everything or are they strong enough to walk away?
I really enjoyed this short book. Watching two men who have a lot to lose open up and become utterly vulnerable with one another was beyond beautiful. I loved watching their feelings grow for one another. Both men fell hard and needed to come to a conclusion as to whether they could withstand the hardships that would undoubtedly come with being together and out in the open.
The sex in this book was hot, raw, sweaty and erotically passionate. When Mal and Sawyer finally give in to the escalating tension between them... HOT DAMN! Pair these two together you most definitely get fire-inducing sex that would leave anyone with a pulse panting. You get rough, dirty, and passionately scorching sex! The dirty perv in me loved every minute of it. Lol!
All in all, this author has delivered a gritty and raw yet sweet love story and also managed to keep me intrigued despite the short length of this novella. This is more a HFN ended but I understood this given the fact that Mal and Sawyer’s relationship did not have the time to fully develop like in a full-length novel. Recommended read!
