Snow, steam, and secrets.

The latest snowstorm carries something unexpected to the doorstep of Hutch’s secluded Alaskan cabin: a stranger named Jude, the most beautiful man Hutch has ever seen. Jude says he’s in the area for a ski trip and that he fled a domineering lover, thinking he could make it into town. But Hutch is a suspicious SOB and treats his unwanted guest warily. The problem is Jude isn’t just gorgeous, he’s funny and smart and flirtatious.

Two gay men snowed in for three days—things happen. Really good things. By the time the storm clears, Hutch finds himself a little too attached to Jude Devereaux, San Francisco-based male model. But is Jude what he claims to be? Or is he entangled in the secrets Hutch moved to Alaska to escape?

Lisa’s Review

Snowblind is author Eli Easton’s addition to the Dreamspun Desires Series. I am not familiar with this series; however, I am a huge fan of Ms. Easton’s books. I love this author’s quirky contemporary M/M romances as she has a penchant for writing sweet, unique and hilarious books that always leave me happily sighing. While this story was certainly engaging and fun, it was also not at all what I was expecting….. in a good way. A really good way. This story took a turn into the land of the unexpected and this completely caught me off guard. Kudos to you, Ms. Easton. I always love a good surprise.

I am purposely going to keep my review a little vague when it comes to a summary of the synopsis. You really should approach this book without any ideas about what is going to happen or any preconceived notions. Hutch is living somewhat off grid and calls an Alaskan cabin home. He lives a very secluded lifestyle and would not want it any other way. During the onset of a blizzard Hutch receives a visitor, a handsome stranger claiming to be on a ski vacation and fleeing his domineering boyfriend. Hutch can’t let the poor man freeze so he invites him in; however, this does not mean he is going to let down his guard and trust the gorgeous male model.

Despite the fact that his rugged host is very wary of him, Jude can’t help but flirt with him. With the blizzard getting worse, the two men have no choice but to hunker down for the duration of the storm. There is no denying that Hutch and Jude are attracted to one another so it is only a matter of time before things get very heated in the small cabin. What Hutch is not expecting is for Jude to slip past his defenses and his highly erected walls. But, just when Hutch begins thinking of the small chance of a future with Jude, his fragile dreams are shattered. What follows is a suspenseful twist that takes the overall story arc into the dangerous waters of secrets and intrigue.

When I first started reading this book, I was expecting another sweet Eli Easton tale of love. And, in fact, this is what I honestly believed I was getting for about the first 30% of the book. I love the fact that I was hit with an unexpected twist. From there I was not sure what would happen to Hutch and Jude and the tentative relationship they had started to build. Yes, there was a big dollop of insta-love, but this has never bothered me. I am a huge romantic at heart. Watching Hutch and Jude navigate the murky waters of love was definitely entertaining. I was rooting for them and wanted our two protagonists to get their happy forever.

All in all, I really enjoyed Snowblind. It was an entertaining, quick read that had me engrossed start to finish. A recommended read.

Meet Eli Easton

EliEaston_Road_bwHaving been, at various times and under different names, a minister’s daughter, a computer programmer, a game designer, the author of paranormal mysteries, a fan fiction writer, an organic farmer and a profound sleeper, Eli is happily embarking on yet another incarnation as a m/m romance author.

As an avid reader of such, she is tinkled pink when an author manages to combine literary merit, vast stores of humor, melting hotness and eye-dabbing sweetness into one story. She promises to strive to achieve most of that most of the time. She currently lives on a farm in Pennsylvania with her husband, three bulldogs, three cows and six chickens. All of them (except for the husband) are female, hence explaining the naked men that have taken up residence in her latest fiction writing.
