What is supposed to be a weekend away fishing with a group of mates, changes at the last minute when friends bail out in an attempt to give Cal and Troy some alone time.
With more than just hooks on the line, can these two see what’s been right in front of them the whole time?
The Perfect Catch is a short story about falling for your best friend hook, line, and sinker.
A 20K short story which was part of the It Was Always You anthology.
Jane’s Book Brief
This is contemporary short novella which was previously released as part of the It Was Always You anthology in 2016. It tells the best friends to lovers’ story of Calvin Lynch and Troy Hoffman. They have been best friends since they were fourteen and this shows with all the banter we see between them. It is the classic Aussie banter and humour that we have come to love from N.R. Walker. The easy way these friends have with each other, it’s easy for their friends, and for us to see that they should be together. Until now though, they have never been single at the same time but their friends pull out of a weekend fishing trip to encourage the pair to see what’s right in front of them.
Both guys are very apprehensive about taking a risk and exposing their heart and feelings in case it isn’t reciprocated and it damages their friendship. We follow their weekend and see how the events unfold and I for one, was rooting for them.
I loved the guys and really got into the story and even though it is a short, I certainly never felt short changed. We have all the great dialogue, well fleshed out characters and plenty of descriptive narrative. If you’ve got a spare bit of time and just want a quick read, something short, sweet and funny, I highly recommend this.
