When Zach moves into his new flat, the last thing he expects is a nocturnal house guest.
Zach is thrilled with his new flat, until strange noises disturb him. Who wanders his home at night, laughing and singing, and why is the place always spotless when he never cleans? There was no mention of a house guest in the contract, but it seems Zach has a nocturnal visitor.
Bogdan never expected to end up in Zach's tiny flat, but now that he's here, he intends to make the best of it. Zach seems preferable to his last master, and he waits for the right moment to announce his presence. He doesn't count on Zach's determination to seek out the truth himself in the meantime.
Freya’s Book Brief
When Zach moves into his new place, he didn’t know he had a house guest. And no, it isn’t a hidden human squatter. It’s an intruder with a cleaning fetish – I wish I had one.
Everyone knows the film, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Well, this is the human, the spirit and the cabinet, and I couldn’t help sporting a smile while reading.
The House Guest is a quirky ditty with a bit of everything including a little frolicking. Asta Idonea has a delightful turn of phrase and a lovely writing style that set the scene without going overboard. My favorite line was - ‘strayed into a production of Oliver, put on by a cast high on drugs’ – priceless, and a production I wouldn’t mind seeing. But, it also sets the tone for this story.
I can’t say too much without giving the game away. But, at the risk of sounding totally off my rocker, and you’ll have to read this story to understand what I mean and that is this, if Dobby looked like Lee Pace (Thranduil), the Harry Potter movies would have an entirely different rating and this story would be a spin-off.
