In TEMPTING TRISTAN
Fresh off the heels of yet another bad relationship, Tristan Brewer is taking a break from men to try and figure out where he keeps going wrong. He knows his biggest fault--he leads with his heart, not his head--and that's never going to change. But after several introspective weeks, he's beginning to get a handle on things. That is, until badass heartthrob Alex Wells walks into his bar...
Alex has spent eight years in the Army, months in a hospital bed, and far too long hiding his sexual identity. He's guilt-ridden, damaged, pissed off, and up for a Silver Star--for the incident that nearly cost him his life, and kept him from his grandmother's funeral. But all he wants to do is forget his stint with the institution that allows but doesn't necessarily accept, and live the life he's always dreamed of.
The chemistry between Tristan and Alex ignites from the moment they meet, and the more time they spend together the hotter the flames become. But the closer Tristan gets, the more Alex's walls go up, and when the two walk onto a military base, Tristan finds out Alex's physical scars aren't the ones that run the deepest.
Tempting Tristan is the first MM book written by author Melissa Foster. It is also the third book in her series entitled Harborside Nights. This is my first book by this author and after reading it I was left wondering why in the world I have never read any Melissa Foster books before??? This tale about two alphas is fantastically sexy, humourous, endearing and an all-around sweet romance.
Tristan Brewer is a bartender at the Taproom, a place owned by his friends. After a bad break-up with his ex-boyfriend who left Tristan feeling unloved and defeated, he’s beginning to think that his taste in men is horrendous. Tristan is on a hiatus. No more men for him, at least not for a while. Everything changes when Alex Wells walks into the bar one evening. Alex has come to Harborside to set down some roots and move on with his life. It is the town his deceased grandmother loved dearly and where she left her home for Alex. His eight years in the army has left him scarred both physically and emotionally. Carrying around loads of guilt and anger is keeping Alex firmly entrenched in his past. Will he even be able to move forward?
Tristan and Alex are immediately attracted to one another. They try and fight the pull; however, it is too strong to deny for long. As they jump into the muddy waters of a physical relationship, I could not help but root for them. Both these men are struggling in different ways and trust is not so easy to come by. But, when they become involved I loved the fact that the walls slowly start to crumble leaving them open and vulnerable with each other. There was this vulnerability that they only shared with one another and that was simply a beautiful thing. Tristan and Alex challenge each other and as more starts to develop between them they have to make the decision as to whether they will risk it all and jump in with both feet. Can Alex prove to Tristan that he is a man that will not walk away and break his heart? And, can Alex finally embrace his life as a gay man and live openly and freely, something he was not able to do in the army?
All in all, Tempting Tristan: Tristan Brewer was a great introduction to this author for me. She wrote a sold MM romance full of sexy deliciousness and tender-hearted romance. I will definitely be seeking out more books by this author.
