Blog Tour: Surfacing A.L. Bates with Guest Post & Giveaway

BGWe are thrilled to welcome A.L. Bates to Sinfully today as she celebrates the release of Surfacing, the second book in the The Ariel Series.

Surfacing starts where Deep left off on the deep sea mining ship Ariel. Ariel belongs to Captain Joel Riley, she’s his home and his livelihood. But life on Ariel is tough. The ship spends weeks at the bottom of the sea, trawling the ocean bed for precious minerals, a task which could easily see them crushed or lost to the depths. The food is bad. The danger constant. And if things go wrong there’s no calling for help.

But the hardest part about Ariel is the close quarters. With six crew members living on top of each other for weeks on end things get complicated real quick. Before you even worry about the noise and the smells, there’s the privacy to contend with. There’s nowhere to hide. Nowhere to go when things get out of hand. And things always get out of hand.

Joel’s last dive was a disaster, although probably his most fruitful to date. He nearly lost a vital crew member, his ship, and everything he held dear. But somehow he survived, and in doing so he kept his ship—which happened to be filled with rich cargo—and his crew member survived…. Actually he more than survived. His crew member—his medic—was lying beside him, gunshot wound healing, hickies less so.

On Ariel you can’t escape or hide, and when the Doc ran into his troubles, Joel had witnessed it all. He’d seen the younger man fight his demons and somewhere along the line he’d fallen for him. In the confines of the ship, he couldn’t ignore his feelings or desires, and eventually the Doc couldn’t deny him. They’d journeyed leagues under the sea and even further in their relationship. It’s still new and, like Ariel, still teetering in peril.

Somewhere above the surface the world is wide and open. They don’t have to live on top of each other, they’re not constantly in peril. But right now. With the doc at his side, he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.
