Interview with Nick and Fieo

Toleral’s Residence, Caeorleia pre-mission to find the Collectors

Alicia settles in with a com. “So much has happened in a few short weeks for you, Nick. You went from a prisoner on a science ship to volunteering to go back to space on this mission with Fieo.”

Nick tilts his head. “It’s been hard adjusting, but I’ve had a lot of help. Caeorleia is amazing. I wish I could see more of the planet, but I need to do this. Besides, I hear summer is coming, and I really don’t want to experience that.”

The overgrown jungle and strange creatures are amazing, but it is really hot. Alicia fans herself. “Now I get the blasé attitude about nudity.”

“Try living with it 24/7. It’s a little harder to adjust to when it’s in person.” Nick’s cheeks flush pink. “It’s colder in space, so the guards told me they’ll all wear ship suits when we’re on the mission. Of course, they’re skin tight, so they don’t really hide much.”

“Speaking of adjusting, now that the human ships are no longer orbiting the planet, and the battles have stopped, how will this affect the Caeorleian soldiers? ” Alicia asks Fieo.

Fieo leans forward. “We’re not all guards. After Seral was captured a turn ago, all our ships were recalled. My crew and I were pressed into the guard because we’re trained in combat and weaponry, but our main purpose is acting as ambassadors for our people. We’ve traveled far and come across many races but not all of them are friendly so we have to be prepared to be both. That’s why we were given this mission by the Toleral and the asheksi.”

Alicia asks, “Was that how the war began between the humans and your people?”

“No.” Fieo shakes his head. “The humans arrived in our system without warning. At first they only scanned the planet, but as soon as they were blocked from entering our atmosphere by the bio net protecting the planet the bombardments started.”

“That doesn’t seem very logical.”

Fieo snorts. “Humans aren’t very logical.”

Raising an eyebrow, Alicia says, “Nick is human. Is that how you feel about his decision to go on the mission with you? He’s making an illogical decision?”

“He is not one of those nelhos! He’s a hybrid.”

“Not much of one,” Nick muttered. “If I was braver like Ryker or strong like Dade, you wouldn’t worry about me going with you to find the Collectors.”

“Yes, I would.” Fieo turns away from Alicia to face Nick. “This could be very dangerous. You’ve been through so much for the last turn on that ship. You deserve some peace.”

“The humans won’t give us peace just because we want it any more than those doctors would have stopped experimenting on me even though I begged them not to. If I can prevent more atrocities like what they did to me, to Dade and Ryker, to those innocent young like Maerit and Pira... I have to go.”

“But you don’t have to.” Fieo reaches out and then snatches his hand back. “You can stay safe.”

Nick wraps his arms around his chest. “There is no safe.”

“Not even here? You’re in the Toleral’s residence and surrounded by his guards.”

“Did you see the crews rebuilding almost half of it?” Nick waves toward the window over the inner courtyard. The top half of the wall across the garden had collapsed inward.

Alicia probes Nick’s decision. “Why not go on the mission to Ussmep? You were born there and know it better than the Caeorleians. You also look human.”

“Not enough.” Nick points to the scrolling marks on his neck. “These definitely don’t look human. Besides, I believe I’m supposed to find the Collectors. If they’re really as powerful as everyone says, they could hold all the answers we need.”

“I guess there isn’t much more to say than that. Thank you for taking the time to talk with me.”

Their journey will span the universe and back, but there’s no guarantee they’ll make it together.

Though Nick and Fieo are drawn to each other, their relationship has never been easy. Their differences go beyond their races, but they’ve managed to work together to prevent the spread of corruption, growing closer along the way. Nick still battles the effects of years of loneliness, fear, and pain but surprises everyone when he refuses to stay behind when Fieo is sent on a vital mission to find the Collectors. Fieo objects, but there’s no stopping Nick when he sets his mind to something. Over the course of their mission, it becomes clear Nick is more than anyone ever imagined, but the mystery of his past threatens to derail his future.

The search for the truth will take Fieo and Nick far from Caeorleia, to worlds both familiar and completely alien, and put stress on their already tenuous relationship. It’s a journey that will either tear them apart or finally bring them together.

Meet Alicia Nordwell

Alicia Nordwell is one of those not so rare creatures, a reader turned writer. Striving to find something interesting to read one day, she decided to write what she wanted instead. Then the voices started ... Yep, not only does she talk about herself in the third person for bios, she has voices in her head constantly clamoring to get out.

Fortunately for readers, with the encouragement of her family and friends, she decided for her own sanity to keep writing. Now you can find her stories both free and e-published!She can be found quite often at her blog, where she has a lot of free fiction for readers to enjoy or working hard, or maybe hardly working, as an admin on GayAuthors.org under her online nickname, Cia.

Oh yeah, she's a wife, mom of two, and lives in the dreary, yet ideal for her redhead complexion, Pacific Northwest. Except for when she disappears into one of the many worlds in her head, of course!

  1. Thanks so much for hosting me during my Release Tour, Monique!!

  2. Sounds like a great book, I love the idea of traveling the universe and quite honestly I'm a sucker for sci-fi lol. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks, Victoria! It's my fav genre for me to read, so I love writing it too.

  3. It's been a long while since I've read any sci-fi, and I haven't had the chance to read any M/M sci-fi. I've been looking for somewhere to start and this series sounds pretty cool--I have all 3 books on my wish list :-)

    1. I hope you'll enjoy your dip into the MM Sci-fi waters, Carra! :)

  4. I've always loved sci-fi (and fantasy). This genre is actually what led me to m/m. :-)

    1. I have to agree. There is a lot of speculative fiction that is a great introduction to the MM genre.

  5. I've read the entire series and what I liked best about it is that several things happen in each book as opposed to the story only revovling around one subject. Not to mention traveling to different planets and interacting with different species. The storylines flow smoothly with sweet romance, mystery, suspense and action. I simply love this series. Thank you for the chance.

    1. Aww, thanks Shorty Chelle! You always have such great feedback, I love to hear what you think when you read my books!

  6. This sounds like an interesting world.

  7. Congrats on the new book release! i haven't read the series yet but I love a good sci-fi.

    1. Thanks, H.B.! I hope you'll give it a go.

  8. this is a new to me series
    it sounds fascinating!

    1. I do try to make it very interesting. Sci-fi gives me many opportunities to go in a crazy direction to make writing, and reading for my fans, fun!

  9. There is so much I love about this series. How am I supposed to list it all? The world-building is spectacular. There's more to plot than just romance. I love the tension between the MCs in the books so far--sexual tension, but also the initial "should I trust or fear this person?" I just fell in love! I'm also really hoping we get some more info on Dade's former comrade... (can't remember his name!). Hint, hint? :D

  10. Have not read it but looks like a good book.
