5 Ways to Keep Romance Alive: A Character Interview, led by Jules Dixon.
Jules: Hi there, everyone. Thanks for joining us today. I’m here with…
Nate: Nate O’Neill.
Tenn: And Tennessee Reed.
Jules: Leading men from Chaps of the Cherry County Cowboys series. Thanks to Sinfully for having us here today. Guys, we’re here to talk about ‘5 Ways to Keep Romance Alive’.
Nate: You’re kiddin’ right?
Jules: Nope. You guys are gonna tell us how you keep your love going.
Tenn: (deadpans) Sex. Lots of sex.
Jules: (laughs) Okay, well, I’ll note that as Number 5: Lots of sex. But hopefully, there’s more?
Nate: With Tenn, there’s always more. After all, he has the manaconda. (winks and Tenn chuckles) But I’d add to that, when you have sex, take time to really enjoy the moment, be there physically and emotionally.
Tenn: (pulls Nate and kisses his forehead) That’s what I really meant, baby.
Jules: So intimacy is important, good to know. Okay, what else?
Nate: I’d say Number 4 is ‘Unplug’ for us.
Tenn: Oh, yeah, that’s a big problem of mine.
Nate: (side-eyes him) That’s why I said it. Thirty minutes every day after work, we take time to enjoy each other’s presence without phones, TV, computers, or any electronics. It’s a priority for us, because we are in it for the long haul.
Jules: (smiles) Love hearing that, guys. Okay, what’s next?
Tenn: Surprise your partner. I love leaving Nate little notes in his lunch every day.
Nate: And I love getting them. And in return, I make Tenn breakfast in bed on Sundays. Our five-year-old daughter, Kenzie, loves helping me, and it’s a way for her and me to get closer, too.
Jules: I told you guys, no spoilers from the book!
Nate: (grins sheepishly) Sorry, Jules, I forgot.
Jules: (rolls her eyes and is overwhelmed by his cowboy charm) Okay, forgiven, so surprises. Love it. Anything else?
Nate: Oh, I know, do chores.
Tenn: (cocks head) What?
Nate: I know you don’t mind doing the laundry, and I can see a difference in your attitude when I do a load every day, even though I don’t really love doing it. It takes a little off of your plate and gives you more time to spend with Kenzie and me.
Tenn: And here I thought you were just the perfect guy. (nudges Nate with his shoulder)
Nate: Not even close, but I think that’s why we go so well together. I try to help make your life a little easier when I can and you do the same for me.
Jules: I know when I’m on a writing deadline it makes me get all warm fuzzies when my hubs does something for me. Like this past weekend when I was doing edits on Whips: Cherry County Cowboys 3, for a June release, he helped me bake 12 dozen cookies that I’d promised to a friend.
Nate: Sounds like a keeper to me.
Jules: Twenty-five years this December.
Tenn: You never told us that!
Jules: Tenn, I don’t tell my characters everything about me, I just ask that they tell me everything about themselves.
Nate: (chuckles) Well, obviously you and the hubs know how to keep romance alive.
Jules: We definitely try. What’s another way you two keep your love alive?
Tenn: Well, for me, it’s touching. Those little touches that people might see as insignificant but they mean a lot to me. Like when we were in the truck and I’d just told you about something that was weighing on me. Not gonna spoiler it for the readers, Jules. (winks) And you put your hand behind my neck and massaged away my worries. I think that moment was when I fell for you, Nate.
Jules: Aw, guys. (dabs eyes) I’m really happy you found each other.
Nate: (smiles) So, anyway, Number 2- touch and I’m gonna add hug, often. But I have one for Number 1, cause this one got both of us into a little trouble in Chaps … communicate.
Tenn: But the thing about communicating is it needs to be open and honest.
Jules: Well guys, that’s five, I know you could probably give more, but here they are:
5 Ways to Keep Romance Alive by Nate O’Neill and Tennessee Reed
- 5. Sex, but not just any sex, but find intimacy and enjoy the moment.
- 4. Unplug, turn off the TV, phones, computers, all electronics and talk for 30 minutes every day.
- 3. Help out in thoughtful ways. Do a chore or something your significant other might have on their list of “To Dos”.
- 2. Touch and hug each other daily. Little ways that mean a lot.
- 1. Communicate—openly, clearly, and honestly.
Nate: Thanks to Sinfully for having us here today.
Tenn: Love you, all.
Nate: That was my line, babe.
Jules: (shakes her head and rolls eyes) They’re always like this. Thanks everyone and hope you enjoyed our interview.
Cherry County Boys #2

Published ~ 13th May 2016
Genre ~ Contemporary M/M Romance, Cowboys
Rising rodeo star Nate O’Neill never expected to be living in a small Nebraska ranching town waiting for his rodeo brother to recover from a vicious ride. His unplanned stop steers him into the arms and bed of local celebrity, Tennessee Reed. Soon he questions what thrills him more—the rodeo or Tenn. Forced to face his reckless past, he’s reminded that relationships can cause damage far worse than any bull ride … and maybe he’s headed for the same suffering again.
Professional football draft-pick Tennessee Reed returns home emotionally shattered by the unexpected passing of his father who left Tenn with a hereditary secret buried in his chest. He might be dying inside, but when Nate walks into his life all Tenn’s troubles seem to disappear into those hazel eyes and he’s never felt more alive. Will Tenn follow the cowboy wherever life leads? Or will he protect his heart and watch those fringed leather chaps ride away?
Book #1: Spurs
Dr. Grayson Taylor is convinced that a summer fling with the bartending cowboy is a quick remedy to mend his broken heart. Soon his plans to return to big city lights for a dream career don’t seem as attractive as the cowboy with dimples lying in his bed. When Grayson’s charred past reappears, can he learn that forgiveness costs less than pride and admit he is the one who needs to be healed?
Cowboy Izaac Scott drove into town with little more than boots on his feet, a well-loved baseball cap on his head and a cross-country journey on his mind, but he’s not sightseeing. He’s running from the ghost of a first love. Will the doctor be the one to help Izaac realize that true love can heal the past or will the cruel spurs of life jab him in the heart again?
This New Adult Contemporary Romance Novel twists and turns like a bull rider at the rodeo. Hold on for the ride!
Meet Jules Dixon
Jules Dixon enjoys entertaining her Omaha, Nebraska, neighbors by dancing while mowing her lawn and is an annoying but lovable online distraction to her writing friends. She quite possibly eats her own body weight of Gummy Bears, Hot Tamales, and Red Vines, every year. She is addicted to everything related to the amazing emotion of love, and has been referred to as “terribly optimistic” which she took as a compliment, but may not have been, and she’s okay with that.
Jules explores the rich psychology of sexuality, choices, and conflicts of high school, college, and young adult characters in her novels and novellas.
Jules Dixon is giving three lucky readers the chance to win a Kindle eBook of Chaps: Cherry County Cowboys #2.
