Sassy Boyz vs Sex and the City

By Elizabeth Varlet

Hello there! I am so happy to be here promoting the first book in my Sassy Boyz series, Fierce & Fabulous.

The Sassy Boyz are four gender-bending dancers in New York City. They love shoes, drinking, and each other. I have to admit the comparison to Sex and the City didn’t occur to me until well after the second book was already finished and I was deep in promo mode for Fierce & Fabulous. But now that I see it, I can’t Un-see it. You know?

Here’s the thing, each Sassy Boy has a very distinct personality just like the Sex and the City ladies. We have Ansel, who I’d say is very much a Samantha. He’s blunt, loves sex, and doesn’t care what anyone thinks about him.

According to Wikipedia Samantha “is an independent publicist and a seductress who avoids emotional involvement at all costs, while satisfying every possible carnal desire imaginable.”

I mean, insert dancer instead of publicist and you’ve got Ansel right there.

Then we have Z, he’s much darker, more intense and serious. He’s sarcastic and cynical but at the same time, he has a tender heart that wants to believe in love. I think Z is like Miranda.

Wikipedia says Miranda “is a career-minded lawyer with extremely cynical views on relationships and men.”

In Fierce & Fabulous Z actually tells Fitch that love is a disease and he’s immune. He is so completely cynical and negative about love at that point. Don’t you think it will be great to watch him fall? ;) His book comes out in November, so stay tuned for more.

Lirim Savage is a free-spirit with a wounded heart. He’s lively and wistful, but damaged. We don’t see much of him until later in the series, but I believe Lirim is our Carrie. He’s flighty and irresponsible and way too focused on fashion.

Carrie “often pairs inexpensive vintage clothing with high-end couture” and so does Lirim. He has a hippie style that looks modern. Carrie is *“very warm, concerned for and loyal to her friends but also a bit jumpy and nervous.” And so is Lirim.

Lastly, we have Tam the shy quiet one of the group. He’s much more subdued and polite. He loves his friends but often doesn’t understand why they like him. He’s less self-assured and relies on the others for their strength.

Tam is our Charlotte.

Charlotte is “the most conservative and traditional of the group, the one who places the most emphasis on emotional love as opposed to lust, and is always searching for her "knight in shining armor".”

An almost perfect description of Tam.

So there you have it, Sassy Boyz vs Sex and the City girls. It’s a weird comparison and even stranger for me since I only noticed once the first two books were complete and the characters where all living, breathing, people in my head.

But then again, we are all a little bit Sex and the City, aren’t we?

So, which character are you? Have you taken the Buzzfeed quiz to find out? I want to know. Comment below and one lucky commenter will win a Sassy Swag Bag filled with Sassy goodies.

Thanks for hanging out with me!

All the best,

The first in a scorching new male/male series by Elizabeth Varlet. Behind the Sassy Boyz's seductive smiles and sinful dance moves are desires that will leave readers breathless.
Fitch Donovan never thought a lap dance could change his life, but from the moment the gorgeous dancer's lips touch his, his world comes screeching to a halt. No matter how hard he tries, he can't shake the desire that rocks him to his core. He's longed for this passion all his life—he just never dreamed he'd find it with another man.
Sharing a soul-shaking kiss with a straight boy is the kind of drama Ansel Becke just doesn't need. Spotlights aren't made for two and Ansel prefers to keep things on a one-night-only basis. So when Fitch shows up asking for an encore, Ansel knows he should send his gorgeous ass packing.
Though Ansel tries to pretend that what's between him and Fitch is far from fabulous, there's something about the big, burly contractor that makes Ansel's world sparkle in a way no amount of glitter ever could. And Fitch will do whatever it takes to convince Ansel that when the thing you need most in the world falls right into your lap, you'd be a fool to let it go.

Meet Elizabeth Varlet

x1_IMG_1355_medElizabeth Varlet is a thirty-something, newly-married, world-traveler who devours books like they were candy. A nerd at heart, she spends way too many hours binging on episodes of her favorite television shows and dreaming of the day she can adopt a dog—whom she’s already named.

She started writing stories in high school and hasn’t stopped. Now, her characters like to get frisky under the covers. Or the stars, or in a car, or up against the wall—they’re not picky.

Elizabeth believes in love of all shapes and sizes and wants nothing more than to share the beauty in the form of stories.
