Inspiration for BOUND

The inspiration for Tek & Jamie came from characters from Sons of Anarchy. The friendship between Jaxx’s and Opie sent my mind wandering but I never put thought to paper. It was one of those things where you see something and go mmmmm yum. But you don’t actually run with it.

IMG_1388During one of my lunch dates with Sam (S.A. McAuely) I mentioned it and she was like, OMG you have to write it. I assured her one day I would but didn’t commit to any kind of time frame. I went on with what I was doing. During our next visit she asked about it again, same response. Each time we met she would ask and I’d say, “Sure, sure, one day.”

Sam can be a wee bit persistent when she wants something. So, rather than ask again, she sat down and wrote the prologue and made me read it during lunch. After reading it I couldn’t get Tek & Jamie out of my head. The evil little imp had won (she normally does).

So I have to give credit to Sam for Roped and Bound. Without her buzzing (lovingly) around my head like a little gnat, Tek & Jamie may still be sitting on my “To Be Written” shelf.

Do you have a friend who inspires you? Someone who pushes and pushes but in the nicest possible way because they know it’s good for you? Leave a comment and one random winner will receive an eBook copy of BOUND.

Meet SJD Peterson

SJD Peterson, better known as Jo, hails from Michigan. Not the best place to live for someone who hates the cold and snow. When not reading or writing, Jo can be found close to the heater checking out NHL stats and watching the Red Wings kick a little butt. Can't cook, misses the clothes hamper nine out of ten tries, but is handy with power tools.

::: And the winner is……. Lori M ……. CONGRATULATIONS! :::

  1. My best friend really inspires me. But not because she pushes me. She is an example in herself, because she's had a really hard life but still manages to make the best of what's she's been given and has a bright and sunny personality. She's one of those people everybody should admire...

  2. You are lucky to have such a great person in your life and I'm sure you inspire her too. Keep inspiring!!

  3. I have a really good friend and coworker that indeed inspires me to be true to myself and to get better at the same time. A thrilling combination ;-)
But I can't say she really pushes me, it's more like a leading by example kind of way...

  4. No, nor do I have family members who do. My parents were surprisingly non-pushy.

  5. I have a friend that inspires me to be better and happier. She not only survived an abusive relationship, but reoccurring breast cancer to name just a few of the bigger things; yet, she's still positive and finds the joy in every day. She's one of the most positive people I've ever met.

  6. My new boss is an 81 year old woman who is always kind and always positive. My new inspiration.

I'm sorry to see the end of this series - like so many others.

    1. Congratulations, Lori. you're our lucky winner for this post. An email is on its way to you.

  7. Not friends but family is always "encouraging" me to do better or be more assertive.

  8. My parents are pushy but not necessarily in a good way. My son inspires me to try to be a better person to I can be the best possible person I can for him. But he doesn't do anything overt, his existence just makes me want to help make the world a safer/better place in general.

  9. My best friend is one of those kind-hearted "give you a boost" types, which I appreciate since I tend to kick my own ass too much...

  10. My best friend :) We've been mates since we were 12 and I can't imagine her not ever being there. We live a distance away now but keep in contact regularly. She's the only one who doesn't push me, merely uses gentle guidance. She knows I'm stubborn, persistent if I want something, and I'm going to resist the push. She gets on board and gives me sane advice. Never says "never", but more "this could get you there sooner and in one piece." :) I'm blessed xx

  11. Not friends specifically, but my mom. She truly believes that I can do anything I put my mind to, and she wants the best for me.

  13. My best friend is such a person. I don't know how she does it. She keeps a smile on her face and can get the most aggressive/obnoxious person to stop in mid rant and chuckle. They then proceed to be the most reasonable person around. I have seen it happen time and time again. I am in awe of her. She uses it on me when I'm being stubborn but most of all she always tries to get me to be the best person I can be!

  14. My sister is my best friend. There are nine years difference between us and I had the biggest hand in raising her (both parents working long hours). We don't even fight - we have discussions that may reveal opposing views and always approach issues with the view we both want them solved. These are rare because we generally agree on most things. She has always supported and encouraged me in everything and I really hope I have done the same for her. Despite living in different countries and having long flights to see each other, we chat everyday online.
