Featured Guest Author: Susan Mac Nicol Dreams of Winning the Lottery Guest Post and Giveaway.

We are thrilled to welcome Susan Mac Nicol to Sinfully today to celebrate the release tomorrow, 28th January of... Flying Solo, the sixth book in her hugely successful Men of London  Series.

What I’d do if I won the Lottery

Let’s face it. Everybody dreams about this. They may not admit it but I’m pretty sure you’ve had a thought or two when you’re sitting at your desk putting on that one last bit of data onto a spreadsheet for your unappreciative boss to check and thought’ To hell with this. If I won the Lottery, I’d…’ You look around the office at your colleagues and smirk, thinking, ‘John, there’s no way I’d even buy you a damn drink, because you’re a tosser, Lucy, you may flash your boobs at the office party, but you know what? They’re not that good. I might buy you a new pair. And Dennis, don’t even get me started on your wardrobe. You’re like a walking advertisement for the disenfranchised and you seriously need a haircut. Maybe I’ll stretch to that for you.” Snicker. Eye roll.

Then there’s the other plans. The ‘buying a house in the country or city, buying a new car, going on holiday, perhaps paying off debts. Giving money to those deserving members of your family.’

So what are my dreams should I win a crap load of money? Read on… (please take this all with a pinch of the proverbial salt J)

  • I’ve debated paying off debts, or making the bastards wait for it. It’s a fine line but I’m leaning towards the latter.
  • My biggest thing is this. I want to buy an island. A warm, tropical one, small but adequate. I want it to have all the utilities I need- electric, gas, running water, anything that makes life comfortable. I’m not one for roughing it, I’m no Bear Grylls. Excellent Wi-Fi is a must, good and steady internet connection a no brainer.
  • Once this is up and running, I will establish myself as Queen. Yes, you heard it. Queen Susan. I shall loftily see which members of my family and friends I want to come with me to live there, graciously inform them their presence is requested and make sure they have a lovely place to live. I’ll only invite people I really like though so if I’m pissed off at you, or you’ve upset me, I’ll probably leave you behind. That’s the privilege of being Queen of the Island.
  • Then I want to build some beautiful cabins and establish a writer’s retreat. A place where we can go and live in luxury while we write our next book. A place of warmth, light and fun, where play is just as important as the work.
  • The island will be festooned with sexy gorgeous blokes for my pleasure, in limited stages of dress (or undress) pandering to my every need (well, most of them. I am married after all). I might be generous enough and let you feast your eyes on them as well.

· Life would be so good….

Sigh. Back to the real world. This is what I’d probably really do-

  • Buy a better house with a large library. It has to have a proper library.
  • Give up work, become a full time writer. Yes!!
  • Give money to kids, family and friends to see them through.
  • Pay off my damn debts. It’s the right thing to do I suppose.
  • I’ve always wanted to start some sort of halfway house for people who need it- whether it be homeless people, recovering alcoholics because of family history, or kids who need a safe place to stay – THIS would be my most important focus. Using the money in a worthwhile endeavour. Donating to some deserving charities and trying to make a difference.

So what would YOU do if you won the Lottery?

Meet Susan Mac Nicol

Susan Mac Nicol is a self-confessed bookaholic, an avid watcher of videos of sexy pole dancing men, geek, nerd and in love with her Smartphone. This little treasure is called ‘the boyfriend’ by her long suffering husband, who says if it vibrated, there’d be no need for him. Susan hasn’t had the heart to tell him there’s an app for that…

She is never happier than when sitting in the confines of her living room/study/on a cold station platform scribbling down words and making two men fall in love. She is a romantic at heart and believes that everything happens (for the most part) for a reason. She likes to think of herself as a ‘half full’ kinda gal, although sometimes that philosophy is sorely tested.

In an ideal world, Susan Mac Nicol would be Queen of England and banish all the bad people to the Never Never Lands of Wherever -Who Cares. As that’s never going to happen, she contents herself with writing her HEA stories and pretending, that just for a little while, good things happen to good people.

  1. Depends on how much it was, but first would probably a smallish house on a big lot. I do not want to be able to have a conversation through windows with my neighbors.

  2. Well not really original, but I would probably settle my loans (both for my flat and my work place...), then a little bit of travelling ?

  3. i would pay off all our bills and my parents as well...i would set up college funds for my children and buy a new house

  4. I'd probably quit my job, though that would be a bad thing because I am so terminally lazy that without work to force me out of bed 5 days a week I'd probably grow roots into the sofa.

  5. I would travel. I would go to an airport and get in the first plane to leave my town. I think I would spend at least a couple of years traveling non-stop. Then, who knows, settle somewhere nice, open a bookshop and live happily ever after ;)

  6. Put some away for my kids and pay off dept are the first things I would do. Love Susan Mac Nicol's books/writing! Congrats on your new release Susan, can't wait to read Max and Gibson's story.

    1. Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy it ♥

  7. I would buy a house with a library in it. All my books could actually be on shelves!

  8. Buy a house, invest it, and buy all the books I want.

  9. If I'd teleported and miraculously bought the £33m ticket, then I'd give some to immediate family, sort houses out. Then look to set up a dedicated basketball/netball centre locally plus future funding and also some sort of halfway house, shelter for homeless youth, safe havens with future funding.

If it was a more modest sum - a grand holiday, a chef and the library idea sounds wonderful!

  10. I think I would pay off my house and start traveling a whole lot more. All those places I want to go but just can't afford. Travel in the USA too. Visit my friend in Oregon and stay longer than a weekend. Try to invest some, not blow it and be broke in a year. I might keep my job since I work out of my house anyway, but my husband would quit, he needs out of his job. Support a few charities that are near and dear to my heart. Probably pay off my sister's house so her and her husband can relax more before she works herself into an early grave.

  11. I would have a house built on some land and have an enormous library do lots of travelling and also give money to GBLT and homeless charities.

  12. Buy or build a house get a new truck and invest a lot of it. I would pay off my bills too.

  13. I have a large family so I would help those who helped me ,also there are certain charity that need help then I would pay all my bills and set aside money for my children ,then I would build a nice cottage far in the woods with all I need to survive.i would invest in the rest, and travel

  14. My sisters and I have always discussed this (even tho I rarely ever buy a lottery ticket). We want to buy acreage far away from the noise of the city and build enough houses on it so we'll all have a home (but not close enough to see each other unless we want to). We want an area in the middle with a pool and gazebo etc...We call it The Ranch. Of course I'd have to give up my sad. :-)

  15. First thing I would do is buy a house. I'm SO, SO sick of having to have to move all the time. I want a house of my own. So that's the first thing I'd buy, then I'd pay off debts and the last thing I would do would be buy a new car... and whatever is left over.... spend on things I've always wanted and save up to pay the on-going bills of my new house. lol...

  16. Set up trust funds for family and charities. So then we'd all have enough money to last and buy the things we need/want and help others too.

  17. I'd build my dream home at the beach.

  18. Besides the obvious "paying off bills", i'd buy an old victorian house and fix it up. Hopefully it wouldnt be a huge money pit.

  19. This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.

  20. After paying off the bills for us and our sons I would probably become the mad old cat lady and fund and run a sanctuary for old and unwanted cats.

  21. Wow there are some great answers here. I think we all dream of winning big and being able to do good things with the money. One day perhaps someone's dream here will come true. I hope so. Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting.
