Featured Guest Author: Charlie Cochet and Loving Blitz includes Giveaway

Well Holy Holly Berries! Christmas is almost upon us and what better way to celebrate than have the lovely Charlie Cochet pop in to chat about her fabulous North Pole City Tales series.

WARNING: Naughty Elves swearing… haha, in the best possible way!

Hello all! Thank you for joining me on another stop of the Loving Blitz mini blog tour celebrating the release of the fourth novella in the North Pole City Tales series! I’m so excited to be sharing with you his latest installment of festive frivolity.

Loving Blitz follows the adventures of Cupid and Blitzen, two of Mayor Kringle’s Rein Dear pilots. Cupid and Blitz, like their Rein Dear brethren, inhabit North Pole City, the largest city at the North Pole. There was quite a bit of world building involved for this series, from the Christmas themed city to the surrounding kingdom of Winter Wonderland and the villages beyond.

One of the challenges I came across while writing the North Pole City Tales was swearing. Yep, you read right. For those familiar with my stories, you know my characters are prone to swearing—some more than others *cough* Ash Keeler *cough*. Love it or loathe it, It’s part of was makes us human, even if a good number of my characters aren’t exactly human. The magical inhabitants of North Pole City are no different. Of course while doing my world building, I realized my sweet, cocoa-sipping, sleigh-riding, candy-cane loving Christmas elves couldn’t go around spouting off everyday expletives. It just sounded… wrong.

If my Christmas elves were going to swear, it would have to fit in with their world, and their characters, which meant getting creative. They also had to sound festive. Festive swearing. Challenge accepted! Some of the words used as or in place of swearing that you’ll find in North Pole City:

Bah Humbug!

Holy holly berries!

Crabapples!

For Kringle’s sake!

For holly’s sake!

Plum pudding!

Peppermint snaps!

Sugar snaps!

Like holly you are!

Baubles

Son of a witch!

In Loving Blitz, Blitzen is quite upset, and he lets loose with Hell’s bells. As you can imagine, Cupid is quite scandalized. Human curses are just so rude! I had so much fun writing this series filled adventure, danger, magic, mayhem, and of course, love. I hope you have as much fun reading it.

Synopsis

From North Pole City to Winter Wonderland, preparations are underway after a royal announcement sweeps everyone into a frenzy of festivity. At the heart of the celebration are the city’s most beloved elf pilots, the Rein Dears. Once the Big Flight is behind them, the pilots prepare for the royal event. Assigned a special task of finding an Elska rose, Cupid and Blitzen are unaware of how their friendship is about to change forever.

Yet not all that glitters is gold. The sweet, angelic Cupid hides a dark secret, one that threatens to destroy his Rein Dear status, his friends, and the elf who’s captured his heart. It’s up to Blitzen to help Cupid see the light in the darkness and show him that together they can mend broken hearts.

Loving Blitz can be read on its own, but for maximum enjoyment, it's recommended the series be read in order as characters from previous books make appearances and previous events are mentioned.

  9. My favorite activity is decorating the tree. My grandmother started the tradition of giving all the grandchildren ornaments each year. My husband and I have added to the collection with places we visit or milestones we reach. Every ornament has a memory. We make it an event. We light a fire, put on christmas music, have hot chocolate and cookies and decorate the tree.

Second favorite holiday activity is reading and/or listening to books and sipping a warm beverage.

Have a wonderful holiday and thanks for the giveaway.
