There are worse things than being stranded in a blizzard.
Artist Trevor Morrison has always appreciated the little things in life, treating each day as a gift. And with good reason: he’s been on the transplant-recipient list for too long now. When he learns just how numbered his days truly are, he resolves not to take them for granted. But he won’t be unrealistic, either—which means romantic commitments are off the table.
Marcus Roberts seems to have it all. He’s handsome, financially sound, and on the fast track to partnership at a prestigious law firm. In reality, though, his drive for success has meant no time for friends or relationships. Add in the fact that his family discarded him long ago, and he’s facing yet another holiday season alone.
When the biggest snowstorm to hit Colorado in decades leaves Marc and Trevor stranded at the same hotel, a chance encounter and a night of passion leads to more than either of them expected. Finding comfort in each other is a welcome surprise, but time is not on their side. Either they find a way to beat the odds, or they lose each other forever.
“What were you drawing? If you don’t mind me asking?”
Trevor turned onto his side, back to Marc, and pulled the covers to his chin. “Time.”
A Fortunate Blizzard by L.C. Chase is a sweet holiday tale that had me smiling, frustrated, giddy and happily sighing. Sometimes the right person comes along at a time when the circumstances are less than ideal and you just have to trust fate and hope it leads you in the right direction and it all evens out. Sometimes it’s about taking a chance, stepping out of your comfort zone and no longer playing it safe. And, sometimes it takes a tumultuous storm to rip us from the safe bubble of comfort we have grown accustomed to. It is then up to us to determine whether you seek shelter once again or begin to dance in the snow.
Trevor Morrison has just received an update regarding his medical condition and the news is not unexpected but it is grim. With Christmas just a few days away he wants to focus on the holidays and be with this family. After all, if the last seven years have taught him anything at all, it’s to appreciate the gift that life truly is. Marcus Roberts is a successful lawyer whose career encompasses his entire life. After all, he won’t make partner at the prestigious law firm he works at without sacrifice. With no time for friends or relationships, Marcus is planning on spending his Christmas behind his computer working the holidays away. His mother essentially pushed him out the door at the age of eighteen and he has had no relationship with her or his brothers since then. He feels like he has something to prove to a family that does not even acknowledge him. Working through Christmas with a single-minded focus is just what Marcus will do.
When a huge thunderstorm leaves Marcus and Trevor stranded at the same hotel, it leads to a chance encounter and a heated night of passion. With the storm essentially leaving Trevor unable to fly to his family, he accepts Marcus’ offer to spend Christmas at his home once the roads cleared enough for the pair to make it there. Both men definitely feel the profound connection between them that goes beyond lust and attraction; however, with an expiration date on Trevor’s life there is no way jumping into a romantic entanglement is even an option.
This author has written a story with two very endearing protagonists. To the outside world Marcus is this workaholic who keeps to himself and hardly leaves the office, but underneath the overachieving façade there is a fragile man who has been hurt and feels like he has something to prove. It took meeting Trevor for Marcus to realize how he was wasting his life away pursuing a dream that was not necessarily his to begin with. Marcus understood that Trevor came with the possibility of loss and heartache, but he simply could not stay away and cut their connection. Trevor was unwilling to take things any further with Marcus beyond their short time together during the holidays. There is no way he would want Marcus to suffer just because Trevor was unable to walk away. Is there any hope for Marcus and Trevor? The clock may be ticking and time may be working against them, but can Trevor and Marcus beat the odds and take a chance at reaching for something neither one of them even realized they needed?
All in all, A Fortunate Blizzard was a lovely tale that touched my heart. What you get is a sweet and emotional love story that left me hopeful and happy. A perfect holiday read that wraps itself around your heart like a warm and comfortable blanket.
