Synopsis

When Rocky met Dex, it was hate at first sight. Country superstar Dex Dexter represented everything that budding rock star Rocky McCoy had left behind him in the Deep South – the religion, the homophobia, the hypocrisy, the lies. And Rocky represented everything that Dex had denied, had turned away from, had refused…

When Rocky met Dex, it was love at first touch. Double booked in the same slot on the main stage at CrossFest, they fought for the microphone like two dogs fighting over a bone. And when their hands met…

Rocky has had enough. “No more falling for straight guys. No way. No matter how hot. Especially if the ‘straight guy’ looks to me like a major closet case.”

Dex has had enough. “No way. I can’t be gay. I can’t lose my family, my friends, my career. I can’t.”

What they’ve had enough of doesn’t matter. It’s what they’ve never had enough of that will bring them together…

Mark’s Quick Bite

I love stories about characters that have really had to fight to escape their backgrounds in order to find real freedom and happiness. This is the case with Rocky and Dex, both musicians who as kids, then teenagers, grow up in the deep south and although coming from very different backgrounds are still similar in many ways. A story about two boys who have had to battle the most awful bigotry imaginable in order to find their final happiness. One goes down the rock music road and the other country music. However, their paths cross and this leads to a wonderful story about finding reconciliation of difficult pasts and leads to a great HEA. I can highly recommend this story to anyone who likes their rock bands, musicians and a good ol’ southern climate.

Synopsis

Husband Material is a long-running reality show, where eighteen lucky guys compete for the hand of one lucky lady. Meet contestant number one, Riley. Since being left at the altar, he’s hit the gym to get into the best shape of his life. Now he’s in it to win it. Contestant number two, Asher, doesn’t really want the bachelorette; he needs the prize money for his sister’s cancer treatment. Asher's upbeat personality brings Riley out of the funk he's been in since his breakup. They make a formidable team, with one complication: Asher’s falling for Riley.

Producer Kaitlyn has her hands full when two bachelors are found in the shower soaping up inappropriately, then another live-tweets the entire debacle. If another scandal erupts, the network will cancel the show.

The two bachelors are on a collision course under the watchful eye of a producer torn between wanting them to find true love and trying to keep her show going. In the end, Riley must choose the bachelorette or the bachelor.

Debra’s Quick Bite

This is a slow building, gay for you romance between competitors on a Bachelorette-type reality show.  Riley is out to show the woman who left him at the altar what she is missing and Asher just wants to come in second to earn money to pay his sister's medical bills. The two men are well suited and become fast allies. As they explore their feelings for each other the contestants are put through one ridiculous challenge after another. As scandals erupt and the competition gets there are also other forces at work that are trying to bring them together.

Xavier Mayne's writing is humorous and intelligent and also manages to tug at the heart strings. There are scenes where Asher just broke my heart with his vulnerability and yearning for a friend and lover. Riley struggles and is not one of those characters that immediately embraces and jumps into this newly discovered side of his sexuality, although the fact that the two are confined in the bubble of the show helps to move things along a bit. The love doesn't come quickly or easily, but happily the two men do talk things through as their relationship deepens and they form a bond of loyalty and friendship on their way to their HEA.

Synopsis

Joriah Eprion didn’t know what sort of trouble he could get into when his father sends him to another planet to find a mate. Barely making it into the spaceport he tumbles into a sizzling attraction to a man sitting at the spaceport then falls equally for another man at a bar. Unable to resist either man he sets up a confrontation between two of the most powerful men in the kingdom both who are vying for his hand. Will Jory survive their courtship or will he become a pawn between two men used to getting their own way.

Liza’s Quick Bite

I have just spent the last two days reading all four of the books in this series, but I thought it only fair to let you know about book one, although they can be read as standalone.  This short little book stars Jory, a prince with a secret.  While everyone around him thinks he is only interested in clothes and having fun, behind the scenes he is busy trying to undermine his uncles slave trading operations.  His father, who has a lot of common sense, hears of a threat to his favorite son and sends him off to the dragon planet in time for the mating season.  He isn't on the planet five minutes before he meets Val and then the very next day he meets Rai - both big, hunky dragonkin.

Now the set up might sound as if there is cheating involved but there isn't and although Rai and Val don't like each other much at all - well, you have to read the story to see how that all works out.  But Jory was definitely the star of the show and I adored him.  My only complaint?  The book just wasn't long enough.  I could stay in this delightful dragon world for ages.

Synopsis

When Tyler Powell's life is torn apart by an unspeakable crime, the need for vengeance takes over. Every moment of every day, as he tries to pull his shattered existence together again, it's all he can think about—revenge.

Will he give in to his rage and become the very thing he hates most? A killer?

Only with the help of Homicide Detective Christian Martin, the cop in charge of his case, does Tyler see the possibility of another life beginning—the astounding revelation of another love reaching out to him. A love he thought he would never know again.

Will he let that love into his life, or is he lost already? Is payback more important to Tyler than his own happiness? And the happiness of the man who loves him? Tyler is determined to find a way to exact his revenge without sacrificing all hope for a future with Christian, but it will be difficult—if not impossible—and in the end he might be forced to make an unbearable choice.

Macky’s Quick Bite

I love the humorous, quirky side of John Inman's books... A LOT...but I also love when he turns his hand to the more serious, darker side of human nature. Payback was a compelling, poignant, thought provoking read about two opposing men. The grieving, vengeful survivor and the investigating cop; brought together in the aftermath of a vicious, random act of violence that really gut punches you at the start of the book. In terms of right, wrong, good and evil, it's a drama where nothing is black and white. You have to look into the grey areas, and Mr Inman had me doing exactly that, as I found myself wondering, just how far would I be prepared to go to avenge someone I loved that unconditionally?!? Beautifully written, sensitively handled and cleverly plotted this is one of my top favourite's from this excellent author and one I can wholeheartedly recommend.
