Synopsis

Blake Young has only known one Master. When he leaves Blake for younger, fresher submissives, Blake doesn’t know what to do. Left without a home and a job, he does what he can to survive. With a stroke of luck, Master Damian of Steel Cuffs initiates a transfer of membership to find him with a trustworthy new Master to serve. Blake has little hope of finding anyone until he sees a formidable Dominant by the name of Logan.

Master Logan has never considered taking a slave, but it’s hard to resist the brown-eyed, shy submissive looking for a Master. Taking Blake on is a more difficult task than he anticipated, but he’s determined to re-train the sub to meet his needs while Blake learns how to communicate his own.

Some things are worth fighting for, and nothing is more worthwhile than Master Logan’s new slave.

Excerpt

Chapter One

Blake Young looked around the bright, inviting lobby of Steel Cuffs. The walls were painted in a light cream color with a dark brown trim. The windows visible on the outside were boarded and painted over, so there was no visibility to the outside. It made Blake feel trapped, in a way. The door that led out to the parking lot was being watched over by a large, intimidating man with icy blue eyes and a scowl. Blake hunched his shoulders and dropped his head, an instinctual need to make himself invisible, edging closer to the desk where a preppy blonde woman was popping her gum.

Eyes glued to the floor, Blake didn’t notice Master Damian’s approach until the Dom’s black Chucks appeared in his peripheral. He didn’t raise his gaze to the Dom, but kept his eyes down in respect and tilted his head slightly to show he acknowledged the man was there. Blake was a trained slave, and he knew how to act around Dominants. Master had trained him well—Master Gerry, owner of The Black Mustang, had told Master Damian so just last week, when they had conferred about his membership transfer.

He’s not Master to you anymore, Blake, he thought with a sudden, overwhelming sadness. His body curled in more on itself, if such a thing were possible. Blake was average height for a man—about five foot ten—but no one would know it from his bearing. Nathanael doesn’t want you, remember?

For three years Blake had served Master—Nathanael, dammit—and he had thought everything between them was perfect. How wrong he’d been.

“I’m sorry, Blake, but this isn’t working anymore. I’m revoking our contract. I hope you find a Master who can fulfill your needs.”

Nathanael hadn’t said why the relationship had not worked between them, but Blake had figured it out quickly enough when he’d spotted the bastard with a younger man at The Black Mustang. Being in such close proximity to his former Master, the man he had foolishly loved, was unbearable. And so Master Gerry had recommended a different club. Steel Cuffs, in fact. Master Damian seemed to understand Blake’s situation and had welcomed him readily enough.

Blake had gone through the paperwork and the tour. Now it was time for the big night—initiation.

“Good evening, boy.” Master Damian’s deep, rumbling voice was oddly soothing.

Blake found himself relaxing under the kind, if not stern tone. Being called boy was such a change to Nathanael’s preferred term: it. He liked boy better. It was warmer.

“Master Damian.” Blake dared not say anything else without explicit instructions to do so. Being a slave was hard work, but rewarding once Blake was able to come to terms with his place. He’d never had a more fulfilling relationship than the one he’d held with Ma—Nathanael. Get it right, dammit.

The sigh he heard Master Damian utter brought a frown to Blake’s face. Had he done something wrong? But he was being so good. He jerked slightly when a large, manly hand settled on his shoulder, but Blake stopped himself from jumping away from the unexpected contact.

“Easy there, boy,” Master Damian said kindly. “Come with me into the club. I’ve found you a mentor for the evening to introduce you to available Doms. If you find one you like, have him mediate your negotiations. Do you remember what I said over the phone?”

I’m a slave, not stupid. The anger flared hot and bright for a moment until Blake remembered Master Gerry’s words. “Master Damian is very protective of new submissives, Blake. He’s going to make sure you know your rights, even if you have to repeat them a thousand times over to remember them.”

Blake blew out a calming breath before he answered, “Yes, Master Damian. I have the right to say no. I am to use my safewords if I ever feel something is too much to handle. I am a slave, but I decide how far I am willing to go until I find a Dominant I trust enough to take care of my needs.”

The hand on Blake’s shoulder squeezed lightly. “That’s right, boy. Follow me.”

Meet Ruby MacIntyre

Ruby MacIntyre was born and raised in Kansas and has always been an avid reader. It’s beyond a mere hobby or escape from reality; it’s her passion. Because of her love for reading, writing her own stories—giving voices and happy endings to the people that live in her head—was only natural. She may be relatively new to the gay romance genre, but once Ruby found it, she never looked back. Now it’s all she reads (the hotter, the better!), and she is quite content with the sexy men that dwell in her head, clamoring for her attention. When Ruby’s not reading, she’s writing, and vice-versa. Books have always been her life and likely always will be.

In the rare occasions Ruby isn’t working, reading, or writing, she loves to play or cuddle with her dog and cat, watch a movie, or hang with family. She loves books (duh), pretty notebooks, snowflakes, and the color yellow.
