Title ~ His Sweet Prince (Hellfire Vampires Bloodline #2)
Author ~ Jae T. Jaggart
Published ~ 7th November 2014
Genre ~ Erotic Paranormal M/M Romance
Shifters and witches don't mix. Especially when one is an assassin, and the other a lycan prince he has been sent to slaughter. No matter how combustible their sexual chemistry.
Easton Caird is many things. To his Agency, he is codenamed Scarlet. Scarlet for blood spilled, Scarlet for the rentboy he impersonates. Damaged, dangerous, he trusts no one.
And when he reads his would-be mark, Grisha Vasiliev, a lycan prince who has turned his back on the shifter pack and crime empire headed by his ruthless father, he realizes that the intel he was given on the commanding male was comprised. Vasiliev is no Russian mobster, trading in drugs, guns, and human misery. But Vasiliev's father, a lycan king is.
The two of them will be thrown together and with death so close, the raw lust between them cannot be denied. With so much blood spilled the consequences of success or failure will be devastating.
Will Easton ultimately make the greatest sacrifice, the most eternal trade of all in order to gain a love, secure a bond he has never had before? Grisha may just be worth it.
The second in the Hellfire Vampires Bloodline series, His Sweet Prince stands alone from His with continuing characters but can be read separately. Approx 57,000 words.
Easton is an assassin - sure he is also a powerful witch and an empath, but he pays his bills by being an assassin. He is sent to kill Grisha, who is, in the words of the author and in Easton's mind, "evil he may be...and certainly not handsome. But magnificent, yes." Easton plays the part of a high priced rent boy to gain access of Grisha's apartment, and ultimately to kill him. However when he has the opportunity, he just can't do it. But after a meeting that does not go the way Easton expects, he finds that Grisha is actually killing himself - slowly and deliberately, with two Russian words tattooed on his heart.
Grisha is the prince of his nation - a lycan and apparently a very important one, whose father wants him dead. After Easton saves him and Zherdev, his body guard, Easton just wants to go and find out who on his agency would send him on such a crap-shit job, but getting away from Grisha isn't as easy as he thought. Grisha likes the idea Easton is an assassin and wants to use him to kill his father.
If you read my review of the first book in the series you will remember I mentioned how I couldn't get a handle on either of the characters because they both seemed so flawed. Grisha and Easton are flawed in this book too, but this time the anger in the book has a common enemy and for some reason it changes the dynamics of the book. I found myself really pulled into this one and although an HEA between the two was practically impossible, I found myself rooting for one. Two damaged men, neither one with reason to trust each other and apart from the rampant hot passion that seemed to run between them, they had nothing in common. And yet I wanted them to find love, not lust, with each other.
Roark and Nix from book one make an appearance here as well, but this book is a standalone.
The stakes in this game are so much higher than in the first book, and yet somehow it works so well. The story was easy to follow and I was absorbed - even when the odds were stacked so high against these two beings, I kept praying for a happy ending. Natalya, Galina, my heart broke for them, but the Otherworld...there is clearly more of that story to come. But the emotions between the two men were real and far more believable in this book, than in the first. Which I really liked.
This story doesn't end on a cliffhanger, and the two men are together, but I am not sure if it will totally be an HEA. There is still so much threatening them both and the Hellfire line, and to find out more I guess you and I will have to read book three.

I am a huge fan of authors who write those magic books you just can't put down, brilliant comedians (hello Eddie Izzard and Russell Brand!) and spoilers. Spoiler alert, bah humbug!
