Liza’s Review

Aeron needs a job, and gets one with the elusive and reclusive, Mr. Roberts, also known as Dylan. The locals in the remote rural place don't like Dylan much because he keeps to himself, but Aeron doesn't have a problem with that. He needs money to pay for his mother's medical bills and even though he hasn't really worked on a farm before, he is determined to work hard and keep his job.

Dylan is a wolf shifter. No one knows about it or the pain he lives with - his mate had been killed along with most of his pack by vampires, years before and all Dylan wanted was revenge. But he hid in plain sight, waiting for the day the monsters that killed his mate tracked him down.

Dylan is attracted to Aeron and vice versa. But Dylan is terrified that if he does anything, anything at all with Aeron then he is being disrespectful to his dead mate. Plus he has to worry about the whole vampires coming to finish him off thing as well. So you've got the whole yo-yo effect - Dylan wants Aeron, he doesn't want Aeron. Aeron wants to push the issue but he doesn't know about the shifter thing, or the vampires and he is a bit younger than Dylan so he wonders if he is just going through a type of crush.

There are even more problems than vampires between Dylan and Aeron. I don't see the point in giving away the plot line, but I didn't like that it was brought up.

Dylan's friends are good people and they added some color to the story. I was glad things worked out for Kate, Aeron's mother, and I wondered if Rhys had a story in him sometimes, although of course I would want it to be MM and he is strictly MF.

This was a different take on shifters but it was a good one. The story annoyed me at the beginning, I hate the yo-yo effect, but the second half of the book had my dinner going cold as I raced to finish the book. I am sure we will see more of these guys and I am looking forward to the next one.

Favorite Lines: My mum always says the dead never truly die, but carry on in our memories. Every time we talk to someone about them, we create a whole new person they live on in.
