When your heart is stuck in the wrong gear, a quick fix isn't going to cut it.
Firehouse 69, Book 2
When Noah buys a classic '68 Camaro from a fellow firefighter's widow, he hopes it will ease some of the grief crushing his heart. But the grinding noise under the car's hood sends him straight to a mechanic. Something about the burly, imposing Hoyt sparks Noah's interest, and it's not just Hoyt's ice-blue eyes and bad-boy biker looks. It's the mutual interest they have--Club LaForge.
After losing his partner to cancer a year ago, Hoyt never thought he'd feel the same kind of rush with another man. But his reaction to Noah throbs deep in his body like the rumble of his Harley.
LaForge seems like the perfect place to meet and work off some sorrow, to feel alive again. But the flood of desire quickly gets hot enough to melt their emotional barriers into unexpected connections.
Connections Hoyt isn't sure he's ready for...especially since history has a scary way of repeating itself.
Warning: Get your motor running for a Harley-riding hunk of muscle who doesn't give a damn about the rules of being a Dom, and a firefighter who can take the heat. Buy a case of your favorite coolant. You're gonna need it.

Lisa’s Review

“When your heart is stuck in the wrong gear, a quick fix isn’t going to cut it.”

Hotter With A Pole by Delilah Devlin not only should get an award simply for the title but it is also the second book in this author’s series entitled Firehouse 69. This is a short, novella-like, story that can definitely be read as a stand-alone. The first book in the series is a ménage book and this author does a great job filling in any gaps for readers that may have not read it.

Noah Turner is a part of the firefighting team at Firehouse 69. When the classic ’68 Camaro that he purchased from a fellow firefighter’s widow craps out on him he takes it to Hoyt Freeman, a mechanic who is burly, hard-bodied, sexiness. Someone who happens to be gay. While Noah is somewhat conflicted over his sexuality, there is no denying the instantaneous attraction between him and the gorgeously rough-around-the-edges mechanic.

Hoyt is a sexual dominant but he has not been with anyone ever since losing his beloved partner to cancer one year ago. Noah is the first man to spark any interest from Hoyt and while he may be confused about the undeniable connection the two men share, Hoyt can see that Noah has submissive tendencies and he would like nothing more than to test the waters with the intriguing firefighter. They both decide to meet at Club LaForge, a BDSM club that Noah frequents with his firefighting brethren and also a club that Hoyt used to be a part of. The rest is history as they say.

I went into this book expecting a short and smutty good time. While this author did deliver on that premise, boy did she ever deliver, she also provided the reader with a heart-warming story about two men who find one another and fill a void missing in their lives. Yes, this book is a bit of a whirlwind and there is copious amounts of “insta” everything. The relationship between Noah and Hoyt moves at a rather rapid pace into happy forever territory. I was absolutely fine with this. I knew what I was getting into when picking up this book and I was pleasantly surprised that the writing was quite good. The emotional connection between our two protagonists was tender-hearted and sweet. Throw in numerous sexy good times and what you have is a winning novella, folks!

If you want a great “quickie” I would recommend picking up Hotter With A Pole. Why not embrace this short novella where you get sexy firefighters, an even sexier mechanic and a whole lot of kinky play? I will certainly be checking out more from this author!
