Shelfie Wars

Jo: Hey, Sam, show me your boobs… Oops, damn autocorrect, I mean your books.

Sam: Jebus help me. I have one whole wall of my office that is floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Here’s my favorite section, though. For obvious reasons.

clip_image002

Jo: Oh look, you did share your boobs. 1D? Seriously? I find it hilarious they’re sitting next to Gandhi. Want to explain yourself?

Sam: And Cormac McCarthy! As well as some teenager-ish version of the Bible that’s a holdover from my days as a pastor’s kid. To be fair, that whole shelf is pretty much a physical manifestation of my inner brain processes. You got something better?

Jo: Mine has much more class!

clip_image004

Sam: Strangely enough, I have a shelf almost exactly like that. But it’s The Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George instead. And that I also have two sets of the Twilight series should make everyone wonder about us. How about this one?

clip_image006

Jo: Ok, but first... There is something really fucking scary about the fact that I own Cleopatra by Margaret George and you also own not one--but two--sets of Twilight.

Sam: Definitely. Or karmic ;)

Jo: Turtles and Pioneer Children, Dr Seuss and Immortals, wow, talk about eclectic. Reminds me so much of our conversations… All over the place! My next shelfie isn’t quite as broad but OMG so many good reads. *side note* See the mug? #Thatisall

clip_image008

Sam: Sooooo boss, boss! Demon from the Dark of Kresley’s Immortals After Dark series was the first paranormal romance I ever read. Lara Adrian’s Midnight Breed has undergone this evolution that surprised me. Her stuff is wicked inventive. That’s a great shelfie! (By the way, I kind of hate the term shelfie, but I can’t stop saying it.)

Jo: I personally love sharing shelfies way more than sharing selfies. No stupid selfie stick needed. So, tell us what’s on your shelf. Hell, we’d love to see your shelfies (tag us on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook with your pics!). We’ll pick one random commenter from below to win a $10 Amazon gift card to add to their shelfies.

Sam: Sheeeeellllllfffiiiiiiieeessssss (I can’t stop.)

Jo: See what I have to deal with? *sigh* See you all next month!

  4. I don't buy that many books anymore because I have run out of shelf space. Now I use my Kindle to store books. Most on there are M/M romance. :) I have lots of complete series...Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward, Sookie Stackhouse by Charlaine Harris, Navy Seal Team Twelve by Marliss Melton, I-Team by Pamela Clare, Firefighters of Station Five by Jo Davis, Black Ops, Inc. by Cindy Gerard, Twilight, and quite a few of the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton. I have tons of Lora Leigh books from four of her series. I also have numerous books by Megan Hart, Shayla Black, and Linda Lael Miller. Too many more to list. Thanks for the giveaway!

  5. I like your shelves.... I see many books I own myself: Lara Adrian and Kresley Cole's series are also in my own bookshelves, together with Karen Marie Moning, Larissa Ione and J.R. Ward. As for M/M Josh Lanyon, Jordan L. Hawk, LB Gregg, JL Merrow, Joanna Chambers, KJ Charles, Kim Dare... The list is quite long. My problem is that I love books. I really, really love them. there is more than one thousand books in my place, and I'm running out of space for more shelves... Anyway, some buy books, some buy shoes...

  8. First off, let me say there is NOTHING wrong with having 2 sets of Twilight books (of course, I have like 5 sets of Twilight books: Original cover hardback, original cover paperback, movie tie-in paperback, 2 copies of the white covers). I also have like 5 SETS of the Harry Potter books (yes, that's 5 sets of all 7 books: 2 sets are the UK version). I also have a shelf (2 books deep) of signed books, a book just for my M/M books and an over flowing shelf of TBR books.

  10. My e-shelves are much fuller than the shelves in my house. But, some of the stuff on my bedroom shelves includes: Beautiful Ruins by Jess Walter, Silent by Sara Alva, several Raymond Chandler books, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, Bad Idea by Damon Suede, pictures of my kids, potpourri and a bunch of kids arts & crafts stuff.

    Thanks for the fun post!

  11. It's always fun to see what other have on their shelf. I have a bunch of stuff on my shelves and they aren't all books. A majority of the books on my shelf are manga (a mixture of yaoi, shounen-ai, and shoujo), fantasy, scifi, m/m, and historical romance novels. Along with gameboy cartridges in their original packaging, some folders with paper and other things, gadgets/knick knacks and textbooks. I also have a a couple containers of books that made it's way off the shelf.

  17. I actually can't do a shelfie as all my books have been packed in boxes in anticipation of a move that hasn't "quite" happened yet...
but if I was able to do a shelfie of the books I own it would include the Anita Blake series, Nalini Singh's books, the Harry Potter series and a whole bunch of M/M books I've won :)

  18. I used to have shelves of books, but with moving to an one room apartment from a 2 story house I had to get rid of some of my books. I have never taken a shelfie of the books Gasp.... I know. I do have 3 shelves of my most precious books that I kept, the rest are e books. If I was going to take a shelfie it would show the hard back copies of authors Amanda Quick, Julie Garwood, numerous Nora Roberts and JD Robb, JK Rowling, CS Lewis. I also have a few MM books that I have started collecting: Mia Kerick, Jessie G, Christa Tomlinson, K-lee Klein Grand Adventures Anthology.

  19. It looks like a great personal library. My shelves are completey full, they have books in every position (once I run out of space, I had to figure out how to arrange the one left). My dear mum even made a bookcase sets (she's good with wood) and I'm about to run out of space again, lol.
Sadly, I have no mm there because it's imposible to get those where I live. That's why I love my ebook collection so much. ;)

  20. Angela:

I wish i had a large house with one room that i could use as my personal library. I think i would never leave that room LOL. Before the ereader i bought lots of paperbacks and i love to go book shopping. Nowadays i buy (almost) all my books in ebook for the obvious reasons like storage, acces etc. I still have a shelf that i use for my most read books and authors. Nowadays i mostly read m/m and i have some books in paperback and of course they are on the Bookshelf i also love the books by John Saul (horror) and they are also on the book shelf one book that will never leave that shelf is The Diary of Anne Frank.

I enjoyed reading this post so thank you and of course thank you for the giveaway chance

  25. I love, absolutely love Lara Adrian too...wish I had hard copies of her books, too. Anyway,on my shelfs you can find mainly art books - art history, biographies of artist etc. There are several books about astronomy and astrophysics, too. And some classics...And if my boyfriend puts some of his books on my shelf instead of his,you can find thrillers. As for romantic fiction,I have only e-copies of those - more space on my memory card and it's cheaper that way. Although I've sworn that I'll have my favorites in paperback one day...
