Synopsis

Aslan is used to everyone considering him to be flighty, clueless, and confused. That doesn't mean it's true, but the constant cacophony of voices inside his head makes it kind of hard to pay attention to anything else around him. Torren Braddock has his hands full as a new elder, trying to clean up the mess the former Council members left for him. Adding a mate to his agenda is the last thing he wants to do, but he can't deny the way Aslan draws him in like a moth to a flame. Torren is meant to be his champion, his protector. Aslan is sure of it. When the voices in his head grow louder and more demanding, he realizes something big is coming, something that has the potential to destroy everything—and he'll need his new mate at his side if he hopes to survive it.

Liza’s Quick Bite

Aslan and Torren are so awesome together, although thanks to Torren's pig-headedness, it takes them a while to get there.  Aslan sees Torren for the first time in what he thought was a dream, but it turns out Torren has powers, one of which is being able to project himself in his dream state, to his mate's side.  Handy, but you can imagine how poor little Aslan felt the first time it happened.  It took a while before things got any better because Torren is an important man, and at the time he was in deep trouble.

This is another exciting episode of the Haven series. You don't have to have read the others to enjoy this to the fullest, but I would strongly recommend you do.  The story lines are serious - involving witches, spells, shifters and vampires, but the love that slowly blossoms for this unlikely pair will have you grinning by the end of the book.

Synopsis

Mark Cooper is angry, homesick, and about to take his stepdad’s dubious advice and rush Prescott College’s biggest party fraternity, Alpha Delta Phi. Greek life is as foreign to Aussie transplant Mark as Pennsylvania’s snowstorms and bear sightings. So, when the fraternity extends Mark a bid, Mark vows to get himself kicked out by the end of pledge period. But then he’s drawn into Alpha Delt’s feud with a neighboring fraternity.

Studious Deacon Holt is disappointed to learn Mark’s pledging Alpha Delt, his fraternity Phi Sigma Kappa’s sworn enemy. Mark is too beautiful for Deacon to pass up an invitation for sex, but beyond sex, Deacon’s not sure. He wants a relationship, but a difficult family situation prevents him from pursuing anything beyond his studies.

Mark and Deacon’s affair heats up as the war between their fraternities escalates. They explore kinks they didn’t know they had while keeping their liaison a secret from their brothers. But what Romeo and Juliet didn’t teach these star-crossed lovers is how to move beyond sex and into a place where they share more than a bed. That’s something they’ll have to figure out on their own--if the friction between their houses, and between Mark and America, doesn’t tear them apart.

Debra’s Quick Bite

If you only know the dark side of writing team of Lisa Henry and J.A. Rock, you’re missing out! In this book the darkness is gone, replaced with a lighter, humorous, love story, but the kink remains and I enjoyed every bit of it.

Mark is angry. He's living in a new country, at a new college and even though it's his 18th birthday he can't buy a beer, so he unleashes his righteous indignation the bartender, Deacon, who decides to buy him a birthday drink and chat. One thing leads to another and soon Deacon and Mark are getting hot and heavy. With the discovery that they are actually affiliated with rival fraternity houses on the brink of a frat war, the Romeo and Juliet style story begins. Underneath the snark and hot, kinky sex, there is a touching story of Mark trying to find his place in a new situation while dealing with his own insecurities and exploring some kinks he didn’t know had. I felt for both Deacon and Mark trying to make sense of so many changes at once and enjoyed the great secondary characters, especially Mark's fellow pledge Brandon and his "big bro" Blake, who also star in the next book in the series.

Synopsis

'Tis the season. Greg's nights are silent and his bells don't jingle. This time last year his boyfriend broke up with him, and he's determined to get through these holidays with only minor bruising. So what if he lives with a cat and his best friend is his mother? Peace and quiet: that's life how he likes it. Nothing is going to blindside him this year, no sir. Especially not a rogue secret Santa.

Mark’s Quick Bite

You’re probably thinking why on earth is Mark putting up a Christmas story for his QB in the middle of August? Well, to be honest I have no idea – lol! However, this book was a delight and if you’re starting you’re Christmas wish list early then you just might want to add this one to it.

Loved the whole idea of this book.Greg receives presents on his desk at work and has no idea from who they could be. But rather than get all joyful and happy, he is rather suspicious at first and thinks there must be an ulterior motive. This was the thing with Greg for me, someone who’s a workaholic but socially very lonely and awkward. I loved his French boss who always showed his genuine concern for Greg and his lack of a social life. He only really has his mother to visit once a week. My if everyone had a boss like Greg’s the whole world would be a lot happier for sure.

Greg is a complicated but well rounded character that once you understand where he is coming from grows on you more and more. Ashley is just everyone’s Christmas dream; again not entirely flawless, just human like the rest of us, but the ideal, romantic Christmas present for sure. Full of Christmas atmosphere, office parties, love, goodwill, not forgetting the cat Curlywurly and above all snow! Lots of it. An enjoyable holiday read from beginning to end.

So in the coming weeks on our QB I’ve decided to give you a few more Christmas treats to fill your stocking. Then you’ll be all prepared in advance and won’t be suffering from the stress of what to choose for your festive reading.

A Rookie Move by Sam B. Morgan

Synopsis

Fifteen years with the Los Angeles Police Department, Mike Graham is a seasoned cop and a damn good training officer. On the brutal streets of LA, he's witnessed every type of crime and taught countless rookies how to survive while they protect and serve. Nothing surprises him anymore. That is, until he meets Nathan York.

Nathan York shouldn't be a cop. With his Beverly Hills background and pretty boy good looks, he's fit for the land of movie stars and nose jobs. Too bad being LAPD is all he's ever wanted. No longer a rookie, he thinks he's ready for anything, even if the next challenge is working with his hard-assed yet magnetic ex-training officer.

Partners on the job, Mike and Nate both struggle with an attraction that has no place in their world. Their explosive chemistry reaches a point it cannot be ignored, but the same chemistry that consumes them could destroy the very thing that binds them together.

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices.

Macky’s Quick Bite

A stubborn closeted cop and his young 'straight' partner. It's not hard to do the math on this one, lol, but don't expect lots of gritty police procedurals because primarily this love story is more about the attraction and subsequent relationship playing out between the two of them on the job; than an action packed crime based storyline. What it does show is the closeness and trust that builds between partners who have to have each other's backs on a daily basis. Only in this case the feeling goes beyond that, as lust and attraction creeps in alongside the usual bromance and cameraderie. It's a really enjoyable will they/won't they story where the chemistry and sexual tension between veteran cop Mike and rookie Nathan really shines and that of course transposes into some sizzlingly hot love scenes that will definitely satisfy anyone who loves some palpable steam in their stories. Deep and meaningful it might not be but as far as entertainment and a sexy, satisfying easy read goes, I liked this one a lot. It's gorgeous men in uniform...need I say more

Sorry Liza, but your pick is too far in a series and looks like a PNR read, and that's just not my cup of tea at the moment.
