Thank you so much for having me today! I’m so excited to celebrate the release of TREBLE MAKER out today from Kensington/Lyrical publishing. Think Pitch Perfect meets The Voice with a sexy gay romance at the heart of it!

TREBLE MAKER is so special to me because although the #PortlandHeat books and my other novellas came out sooner, Treble Maker was written first. This is the book that landed me my amazing agent and my awesome editor. Also, this is my first full length book, and that means it’s my first solo title with a print option! So I’m more than a little misty today.

This story lets me celebrate my love of a cappella music and music reality shows—two of my most fun guilty pleasures. One of the neatest parts of TREBLE MAKER for me in production was adding the playlist. In the back of the book is an annotated playlist that describes the songs that influenced the book for me. I just finished the playlist for LOVE ME TENOR (book 2 in the #PerfectHarmony series) and can’t wait to do the playlist for book 3, which I’m currently drafting. Each book features a different couple and different musical dynamic. Adding the annotated playlists is another way of connecting with my characters and is a ton of fun.

TREBLE MAKER’s playlist is full of some of my favorite a cappella covers of popular songs and a cappella superstars like Pentatonix and Straight No Chaser while LOVE ME TENOR’s playlist is full of boy band classics (and more a cappella covers!). So far, book three’s soundtrack is heavy on the country and harmony. It’s really fun building the sound track for each book I write. It’s not uncommon for me to end up with 100 or more songs on that book’s Spotify playlist before I write “the end.”

The song I probably most closely associate with the book is the Dartmouth Aires’s cover of “Club Can’t Handle Me.” It’s got all the swagger of my aspiring rock star, Cody, and all the wonder of a first time at a great club, with a world of possibilities opening up on a weekend night. (Writing the scene where Lucas visits a gay night club for the first time was probably my favorite scene in the book).

Other songs that make an appearance include Kelly Clarkson’s “I do not hookup” and Pentatonix’s cover of “Someone I Used to Know.”

Synopsis

On Perfect Harmony, the ambitious competitors heat things up on stage and off…
Cody Rivers is determined to be a rock star, but couch-surfing between bar shows gets old fast. Joining an a cappella group for a new singing competition show could be his last chance at real fame—unless the college boy from the heart of the country messes it up for him. Lucas Norwood is everything gothy, glittery Cody is not—conservative, clean-cut, and virginal. But when a twist in the show forces them together, even the sweetest songs get steamy as the attraction between them lights up the stage. Lucas wants to take it slow, but Cody’s singing a different tune—and this time it may be a love song…

  5. If I have a theme song it would be Meet Your Mom by Garth Brooks. But I don't believe any mother could live up to that song - just try though.

  6. I think it honestly just depends on the day! I love all types of music, but it is next to impossible to narrow it down to just one song!

  7. Anything sung by Jared Leto, especially acoustic, currently 30STM's The End of All Days and Stay (cover of the Rihanna's song)

  8. Lots of favorites over the years, but the one that reaching deep and yanks my heartstrings is "I will Always Love You". So many artists did a fabulous job of it from Whitney Houston and Willy Nelson, to the incomparable Dolly Parton. Thanks for the giveaway. Treble Maker sounds wonderful.

  9. I don't really have one theme song. There are a handful of songs that I always have to stop and listen to when they come on the radio, but they range from 70's songs, to Evanescence to classical. I love most music as long as there's a melody and I can sing along.

  13. I don't have a theme song. I can't keep to one song and I keep going through music but if I had to pick a song from the list of music I go through it'll be Clouds ft. Jay Park & Clara by Dumbfounded.

  16. I don't really have a theme song. It depends on what's going on and my mood what I like to listen to.

  17. Varies with my mood. But my ring tone is "Wherever I may roam" by Metallica. That sums me up pretty well.
