Torgny may be a burly, uncivilized mercenary, but even he has his limits. Hired to rid a village of a dragon, Torgny gets quite a shock when he finds the marauding menace is a tiny pink dragon named Jezebel, who takes one look at him and decides she's found a new best friend. Much to the annoyance of her handler, Noel, who seems to believe most people are prejudiced idiots.
Torgny's not sure Noel's wrong about people, but he would really like to be the exception to that opinion. Noel is tall and attractive, and Torgny falls into a case of instant lust.
When Noel decides it's time to move the dragons to safety, Torgny tags along, determined to explore this attraction between them. It's a journey fraught with danger, interfering gods, and rambunctious baby dragons, but if they can survive, they might just find a life for which neither realized they were seeking.
Awww, I just love cute dragons and Jezebel is definitely cute. Cute enough to snare Torgny's heart and he was sent to kill her. But one look at the little ten pound nothing and he knew he wouldn't do it. There's a huge heart lurking in that hunk of manhood.
Noel is not so impressed. He's looking after the dragons and he doesn't trust Torgny as far as he can throw him - which isn't far at all. When he fails to get rid of the annoying mercenary, he decides to ignore him instead. Or tries to.
"Don't you have somewhere else to be? I'm certain someone will be willing to hire you to hack at something with your oversized sword."
Noel isn't all he appears to be - a pretty human. He has some stunning secrets of his own and Torgny has a spot of trouble trying to come to terms with them as he learns about them. He's been taught to revere many and trust few. But there is something about Noel that convinces him that he is on the right path.
A chase, a god, an amazing horse called Gemma, and a whole host of dragons has made this one of my favorite books. It's only short and yes I would have loved to read more, but the story is complete as it is. With cute characters, some attitude-filled dialogue, and enough hot sex to make things interesting, this is the type of book that make you want to smile when it's over...and then go back and read it again.
Favorite Quote: Gods, was he actually going to faint? Yes, yes, it appeared he was.
