Portland, Oregon, aka Hotlandia, where the coffee shops, restaurants, and bakeries are ready to serve everything piping hot, fresh, and ready to go—like the hard-working, hard-bodied men behind the counters—with no reservations…
Sure, Chris O’Neal has problems. His restaurant is still co-owned by his ex. His flannel-and-tattoos style is making him accidentally trendy. He can’t remember the last time he went out and had fun. But he’s not lonely, he’s driven. And the hot bakery delivery boy is not his problem, no matter how sweet his buns.
Chris is old enough to know Lance Degrassi’s sculpted good looks and clever double entendres spell nothing but trouble. Lance is still in college—he should be hitting the clubs and the books, chasing guys his own age, not pursuing some gruff motorcycle-riding workaholic. Especially when he’ll be leaving for grad school in a few months. But Lance keeps hanging around, lending a hand, charming Chris to distraction. Maybe some steaming hot no-strings indulgence won’t hurt.
Then again, maybe it will…

Lisa’s Review

“You’re a brat.”

“Yes. Yes, I am.” He grinned widely, like I’d just cracked some sort of code. “What are you going to do about it?”

Delivered Fast

Delivered Fast by Annabeth Albert is the third book in her Portland Heat series. I am a huge fan of this author with her fun and heart-warming books that leave you clenching your heart and happily sighing. This book was no exception. From the first page I was hooked and wanted to see just how things would play out between the surly restaurateur and the sexy bakery delivery guy with a personality and bubbly butt that were both hard to ignore. This turned out to be my favorite book in the series!

Delivered fast1

Lord, that boy was trouble, but I was too old and jaded to get distracted by a nice ass and full pink lips. I hoped.

Thirty-five year old Chris O’Neal is the owner of a trendy coffee shop/ restaurant. He’s more or less a driven loner focused on the success of his business. After his break-up with his longtime boyfriend and business partner, Chris has not ventured into the dating scene at all nor has he ventured into the random hook-up scene either. When a gorgeous new bakery delivery guy appears, it takes everything in Chris not to respond to his little innuendos and flirtatious mannerisms. Plus, there is no way twenty-two year old Lance Degrassi could really be interested in a cantankerous restaurant owner that was way too old for him anyways. Right????

Unsure was the wrong word. Eager, Nervous. Salivating. Uncertain. I needed a whole vocabulary list for how I felt about friendship with Lance.

The attraction between the pair becomes too hot to handle so they both agree to sex with no strings attached. Lance was such a lovable and vibrant character. He was the one that definitely pushed for more. Despite his hesitations, Chris could not help but give in and succumb to Lance’s charms. I loved how Lance slowly chipped away at all the carefully-placed layers that were guarding Chris’s heart. This was a tender, sweet and sexy tale as we watch the two men go from a friends-with-benefits type of situation to something more. Something neither one of them expected when they ventured down the road of harmless flirtation and lust. Chris certainly had a lot of hang-ups regarding the age difference between him and Lance, which frankly was not that crazy of a difference. Essentially it all boiled down to whether Chris was willing to open his heart once again and allow himself to fall in love. Could he trust someone with his heart again? Especially a man who had his whole life ahead of him and was in the process of reaching for his dreams.

All in all, Delivered Fast was a wonderful addition to this series. I love how real the characters this author creates seem to be. Chris and Lance were no exception. They had their flaws but in the end all that matters is finding someone who accepts you, the good and the bad. Someone who wants you to fulfill your dreams and perhaps make some new ones with you. This is definitely a series to check out for lovers of the M/M genre. Highly recommended.
