Kickass Moms in MM Romance
Both of us have been reading MM for years and when we started reading we remember thinking how many of the female characters we came across who were truly awful people. There were a plethora of storylines that revolved around gay men who were abandoned, disowned, and had really horrible families.
But we both knew from personal experience that this trope, while based in real experiences as well, left out the just-as-interesting female side characters who are supportive of the LGBTQI people in their life, or, at the very least, on a journey to become more supportive.
Wanting to explore these type of female characters is why Jo made Mac’s mom kickass in Beyond Duty and It’s why Sam gave Kerry his mom in An Immoveable Solitude. We both wanted to include a mom as a strong supportive character who the MC could look up to and rely on.
It was Mother’s Day in the US last Sunday, so we want to celebrate those kickass moms in MM romance that you love. Who is your favorite mom from MM? Leave a comment and one random commenter will win an ebook copy of Beyond Duty and another will win an ebook copy of An Immoveable Solitude!
Meet Sam McAuley
Sam sleeps little, reads a lot. Happiest in a foreign country. Twitchy when not mentally in motion. Send her a picture and a song and she's bound to write a story about it. And yes, that's an invitation.
Meet Jo Peterson
SJD Peterson, better known as Jo, hails from Michigan. Not the best place to live for someone who hates the cold and snow. When not reading or writing, Jo can be found close to the heater checking out NHL stats and watching the Red Wings kick a little butt. Can't cook, misses the clothes hamper nine out of ten tries, but is handy with power tools.
Each week, on our Wednesday Author Column posts we will gift to one lucky commenter answering the author question, a Kindle eBook from your TBR list. This week THREE commenters get the chance to win! In addition to our usual giveaway, Sam is gifting a copy of An Immovable Solitude and Jo is gifting a copy of Beyond Duty.
