Devastated after his home is ransacked, Garrick Cross’s heart breaks further when he finds his rare, beloved Dean From Hell Vendetta guitar on an online auction. When he’s outbid, Garrick feels he’s lost everything. The police try to help him locate his stolen property, but the auction’s a done deal. His precious Vendetta is gone. After tracking down the man who beat him to it, Garrick asks if he’ll consider selling the guitar at a higher price. Reclusive collector Micah Drake declines, but finding Garrick attractive, offers a different price: a weekend in his bed. When Garrick turns to the officer in charge of his case, Mak Inoue, he finds more than just moral support.
Garrick was not having a good day. While visiting his hopeless therapist, who was more interested in getting some studio time than listening to Garrick's problems, someone put an add on a website and advertised all of Garrick's possessions for free removal. Including Garrick's most prize possession, a guitar known as The Vendetta. The guitar ends up on ebay, and is sold (so we are told), to Micah.
Sarah, Garrick's best friend has a hand in arranging for Garrick to meet Micah so he can try and get his guitar back. Her methods were a little strange, and felt a bit contrived, but then this is a shortish story and things had to move along. At the dinner, Micah claims that Garrick can have the guitar back if he spends the weekend in bed with him. That wouldn't have been so bad if Garrick hadn't met Mak in the meantime - the hunky policeman who attended the robbery call. Mak can’t show an interest – after all Garrick is a victim of a crime, but the attraction is there.
I get that this was a short book, and as always it was expertly written by A.J. Llewellyn, who is another one of my favorite authors. But there were a few things that jarred me in the story line. Sarah's sending of the photo, Brad and Joshua's behavior from the beginning, and how the whole Mak/Micah thing resolved itself was not right, in my opinion, at all. The overall effect had me wondering if Garrick was a pushover, a slut, or just slightly deranged. It didn't work for me, but if you like hot men, some intense sexy scenes, and short stories, then you will love this.
