A Word from Christina Lee
I’ve always written gay characters, even back when I was trying my hand at young adult novels. Maybe it was my way of working through the emotional baggage of losing my brother so young. Or maybe because the world is filled with diversity and novels should reflect that as well.
My brother was several years older than me and in the Navy. He’d come home on leave with cute sailor boys and my teenage self would simply stare and drool. Oh yes, do I remember those sailor boys!
Hmmm…why haven’t I written a novel about hot Navy men yet? I suppose, even years later, it’s still too fresh, too raw.
My brother was a lively, free spirit and beautiful soul. He met the love of his life in his mid-twenties. Their amazing partnership was what romance novels were made of. But it was cut short due to his untimely death, which left a gaping hole in all of us.
THERE YOU STAND is dedicated to my brother, but it’s definitely not his story in any way, shape, or form. Jude and Cory’s love is simply a reflection of the beautiful connection I was privileged to witness between those two amazing men from an early age.
So wherever you are, big brother, I hope I did it justice. xo

From the author of All of You and Before You Break comes a new Between Breaths male/male romance about the silent, inked up skateboarder and the tattoo artist who unravels him piece by piece...
Tattoo artist Cory Easton has worked long enough at Raw Ink to know, just by looking at a dude, what his body art reveals, what makes him tick, what even makes him scared. Until he meets the quiet and remote Jude York--so unreadable, so unreachable, and so unlike anyone else, he can't help but arouse Cory's curiosity.
As captivating and complex as his ink, Jude is a mystery--and Cory's falling fast and hard under his spell. Against his better judgment to steer clear.
The rumors of Jude's past overshadow him--whispers of prison and an unmentionable secret that's kept him in the protective shadows of a local motorcycle club. As Cory probes deeper, he wonders how much he really wants to know. Especially since Jude has awakened something inside him that has been buried too long--and has him feeling completely alive for the first time in forever...
3.5 “Silent British Boy” Stars
“Hadn’t I learned early on that it was impossible to bend a straight arrow? Especially if you didn’t want the arrow to pierce your heart?”
There You Stand is the fifth book in Christina Lee’s Between Breaths series. This novel also marks this author’s first venture into the M/M genre. I have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised by this story. I have never read anything by this author prior to this book so I really had no expectations going in. I was also unsure as to how well it would work as a stand-alone M/M novel within a predominantly M/F series. In my personal opinion, I think that Ms. Lee did a great job penning a low-angst and tender-hearted tale about two young men who shed their pasts and learn to embrace their futures.
Cory Easton is a talented tattoo artist working at Raw Ink. He is known for his easy-going personality, generous spirit and his talkative demeanour. Cory has experienced his share of loss in the past and the physical pain he experiences on a daily basis is a reminder of that loss. His carefree attitude somewhat acts like a façade he hides behind so no one will realize just how deeply he is affected by his past. Jude York is a broody loner who comes across as a stoic and dangerous bad boy. With his stoic and silent demeanour, this British skater boy has certainly turned a few heads in the small town he has recently relocated to. The mystery surrounding Jude is undoubtedly intriguing, so much so that a certain tattoo artist can’t help but take notice.
“You frightened of me, Cory?” he mumbled.
“No,” I said and his shoulders unwound. “But my heart is.”
He sank down on his bike and before he started the motor, he said, “My heart is afraid, too.”
Both Cory and Jude are attracted to one another but it is not until Jude books a tattoo with Cory that they begin down that bumpy road of lust and attraction. However, Jude has his secrets and a past that still very much plays a part in his present day reality. Given the fact that Cory uses his talkativeness as a front while Jude is the exact opposite barely uttering a word, can the pair ignore the insane attraction they feel for one another and look the other way or is the temptation to take things to a different level too strong to walk away from? Can our silent British boy open up enough and take a chance on someone knowing the risk?
All in all, this author has delivered a sweet love story and also managed to keep me intrigued as I tried, just like Cory did, to figure out what Jude was all about and what exactly he was hiding. Both men tiptoed around the intense connection they seemed to have with one another right from the start, unsure if they could venture into deeper waters. As they begin to discover one another and explore what they could share, you could unquestionably feel the palpable and profound bond they shared. There You Stand turned out to be an enjoyable read. This will not be my last book by this author.
Meet Christina Lee
Now I live in the Midwest with my husband and son—my two favorite guys. I've been a clinical social worker and a special education teacher. But it wasn't until I wrote a weekly column for the local newspaper that I realized I could turn the fairytales inside my head into the reality of writing fiction.
I'm addicted to lip gloss and salted caramel everything. I believes in true love and kissing, so writing romance novels has become a dream job.
