Synopsis

Sebastian Lewis never expected to become a duke. But with the sudden deaths of his cousin and uncle, Sebastian’s position changes. He is determined to fulfill his new responsibilities with grace, even if it means remarrying, and even if the attractions of women, so often lauded by poets, fail to interest him.

Captain William Carlisle, newly returned from India, is elated when he meets Sebastian. Nobody knows of his inclinations, but his harrowing experiences in battle have prompted him to reach for the type of companionship he longs for. He thinks Sebastian might feel an attraction as well, but to his dismay, he discovers that Sebastian is courting his sister Dorothea.

After a semi-arranged engagement and a disconcerting romantic tangle with William, Sebastian escapes London to look after his manor, only to face mysterious thefts, a headless ghost, and the arrival of his fiancée, her brother, and his family. Sebastian’s new estate sits on the south coast, England’s most vulnerable location, and Napoleon has set his sights on conquering the area. Amid this growing turmoil, Sebastian must sort out his feelings for his fiancée’s brother and keep his home safe . . . and determine if he has the courage to reach for his own happiness in the process.

This is a gay regency historical romance.

Mark’s Quick Bite

The Duke in Denial? Well, denial is the keyword here at a time when being gay would mean prosecution and in the worst case it would mean being hung; then yes Sebastian is definitely in denial.

I adored how the book began and how Sebastian meets a charming stranger in the park on the way to the ball. Although his intentions are to meet and marry Dorothea, he doesn’t realize the stranger he met and was strongly attracted too happens to be his future wife’s brother. This ultimately puts Sebastian in an extremely precarious and convoluted situation.

I love my historicals and the regency period always seems to be a time period that remains an evergreen for a romance, whether M/F or now M/M! I would like to think if the Bronté sisters were alive today that possibly they would love the whole idea of an M/M regency romance. Alexandra portrays a vivid and very true story for this period and weaves into it an excellent M/M romance with all its trials and tribulations that this type of relationship would have been confronted with at that time. On an emotional level it was excruciating to read Sebastian’s internal struggle and turmoil he was fighting. Also William’s feelings of rejection and hopelessness over the whole situation. Build into this a mystery of downright skulduggery and the author is on a winner for me.

Synopsis

How far would you dare to go…to win it all?

Maverick Holms and Duke Warren share almost everything—a college soccer team, an apartment and the same extremely competitive nature. Thanks to that never-back-down spirit, they’re about to share more than they bargained for.

The game is “gay chicken”. The rule: get as close as possible without kissing, and the one that pulls away first is the loser. The problem: neither of them likes to lose. It isn’t long before the game becomes an excuse to touch and kiss in every possible forbidden way. And after they pose for a gay website to earn extra money, things really heat up.

Suddenly Duke is talking lifetime commitment, and Mav is backpedaling as hard as he can, not sure if he’s ready to accept all his best friend is offering him. Or the truth about what he is.

Macky’s Quick Bite

Two hot straight jocks, playing a game of 'Gay Chicken' and doing a bit of gay for pay on the side to get some extra cash. It doesn't take much to put two and two together to see where it's all heading! Gay for you...friends to lovers...gay for pay? I read this with no particular expectations of it being anything other than a laid back, hot, sexy, easy read, and it did tick those boxes; especially the hot and sexy ones...OH MY! This sizzles!!! But I never thought I'd end up loving it quite as much as I did. Yeah, it's been done many times before, but this was SO enjoyable that I didn't give a hoot whether it was predictable, believable or not. One of those entertaining reads that has two lovable characters, tons of delicious sexual tension, a real feel good factor and a proper grin inducing HEA. It's in my keepers, all ready for another read and I know I'll love it just as much second time round.

Synopsis

Two decades after war ravaged the nation, one of the last remaining metropolises thrives on a currency of sex, drugs, and lies.
Gordon Frost is a survivor. He outlived all of his friends after bombs decimated the hardscrabble neighborhood he grew up in, and he made it through the orphanages and crime-ridden slums that followed. With few prospects for the future, Gordon carved out a niche for himself in the expanding drug trade of Lexington, PA. It’s not pretty, but it's his, and it beats the skin trade he was involved with before. But a classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time results in a brush with death, going by the name of Adam. Afterward, the life that once seemed good enough isn't quite the same.
Adam Blake is an assassin on the brink of being terminated by the very organization that controls him. He completed his mission, but not without being seen. With his secrets in danger of being exposed by Gordon, Adam knows he should kill the smart-mouthed redhead, but finds himself intrigued by the troublesome civilian instead.
When Gordon’s knack for finding trouble combines with the dangerous consequences of Adam’s indecision, their worlds intertwine in an explosive way.
Trigger warnings: Graphic sex, violence, and drug use.

Monique’s Quick Bite

This book has all the ingredients of a novel that encapsulates everything I love about the m/m genre, it is raw and gritty, action packed, with characters that are complex and intriguing, the world is brought to life and the writing exceptional… I was totally engrossed in the fucked up lives of our two MC’s, who are far from likeable and live on the edge of danger. Having said that, there is also a fair amount of humour sprinkled throughout mainly from the banter between Adam and our lovable rogue Gordon, where his mouth often engages before brain. We get a HEA of sorts, however there is no love or romance, and for the most part these two men play at a mutual dislike of each other. Yet, there is an underlying sexual tension between them that had my kindle in melt down mode! DAMN… these two are combustible and that’s without getting to the sex!

Falling (Fall or Break Book 1) Barbara Elsborg

Synopsis

Falling is easy. Landing without breaking your heart? Impossible.

Harper is no longer behind bars, but it doesn’t feel like it. Ten years serving time for a crime he didn’t commit have left him shut down, numb, and a frozen wreck over the simplest of choices.

He’s acutely aware of the dark-haired young man checking him out in the supermarket, but he’s too deep in panic mode to even meet the guy’s gaze. Afraid the slightest move will trigger a fall that will never stop.

Fresh off a long-term relationship with a controlling man, Malachi is stuck living with relatives who think he’s a waste of oxygen. The tall guy in the long, gray coat is the first bright spot he’s glimpsed in a long time...though the man’s unblinking stare at a bottle of shower gel is a touch alarming.

Hard experience tells both of them to turn away before lust turns to hopeless attraction, and inevitably to disaster. But once their sparks connect, the arc of electricity is too strong to deny. Even if the cost is too much to bear.

Warning: Contains an ex-con with disaster written all over him, a boy toy who’s trouble with a capital T, a damp old British house, compulsive meddling, and enough hot sex to cure the severe case of nervous babbling.

Liza’s Quick Bite

I didn't think I would like this book, based on the blurb, but I had read a couple of other books by this author and thought I would give it a try.  I am so glad I did.  Malachi, out of an abusive relationship tries to hang onto his positive attitude - really difficult when you have an ignorant brother-in-law like Brian and an ex like Conrad.

Harper has just got out of jail after spending ten years inside.  He's broken, terrified of letting anyone get close to him and totally blown away by Malachi.  I thought Malachi's sacrifice was so wrong, but I understood why he did it and I have to admit to cheering when Conrad did the right thing.  I didn't expect to relate to either character, but now I can't forget them.  Totally loved the book.
