Synopsis

Johnnies: Book Two

Ten years ago David Worral had plans to go to college and the potential for a beautiful future in front of him. One tragic accident later, he fled to California and reinvented himself as Dex, top porn model of Johnnies.

Dex’s life is a tangled mess now, but the guys he works with only see the man who makes them believe even porn stars can lead normal lives. When Kane, one of Dex’s coworkers, gets kicked out of his house, the least Dex can do is give him a place to stay. Kane may be a hyperactive muscle-bound psycho, but he’s also a really nice guy. What could be the harm?

Except nothing is simple—not sex, not love, and not the goofy kid with the big dick and bigger heart who moves his life into Dex’s guest room. When they start negotiating fractured pasts and broken friends, Dex wonders if Kane’s honest nature can untangle the sadness that stalled his once-promising future. With Kane by his side, Dex just might be able to reclaim the boy he once was—and if he can do that, he can give Kane the home and the family he deserves.

Macky’s Quick Bite

If you've never read this series, I would actually suggest starting from the beginning (Chase in Shadow) as you get a much better insight into the workings of the 'Johnnies' porn studio, and how the lives and loves of all the porn stars who work there connect, but of the three books I've read up to now—I haven't read book four yet— Dex and Kane's story is still my all time favourite. Damn! I LOVED these two guys! Together they make magic, amid a backstory that has a lovely, well balanced mix of angst, conflict, gentle snark and humour and of course passionate, hot sex...we're talking porn stars and beautiful men here, so you do the math...which is made all the more sensual because of the gorgeous connection between these two soul mates! Amy Lane really knows how to breathe life, warmth and a sense of realness into her characters; and for me it shone in this relationship. Admittedly I adore anything set around the world of m/m porn (I'm a hussy: Shoot me!) but when you factor in Amy Lane, you actually get an awesome story with your sex; not just sex with a barely strung together plot. So so good!

Synopsis

You can run from the past…but the past runs faster.

Shamwell Tales, Book 1

Behind Robert’s cheerfully eccentric exterior lies a young heart battered and bruised by his past. He’s taken a job teaching in a village primary school to make a fresh start, and love isn’t part of his plans. But he’s knocked for six—literally—by a chance encounter with the uncle of two of his pupils.

Sean works in pest control, rides a motorbike, and lives on a council estate. On the face of it, he shouldn’t have anything in common with Robert’s bow-tie, classic-car style and posh family background. Yet Robert is helpless to resist Sean’s roguish grin, and a rocky, excruciatingly embarrassing start doesn’t keep the sparks between them from flaring.

Despite Robert’s increasingly ludicrous attempts to keep his past where it belongs, his past hasn’t read the memo. And soon his secrets could be the very things that drive Sean away for good...

Warning: Contains the alarming misadventures of a pest control technician, a stepsister with a truly unfortunate name, and a young man who may have more bow ties than sense.

Mark’s Quick Bite

What do you get when you cross a nerdy primary school teacher, a class of rambunctious 6 year olds, a rat catcher and an M/M romance? A completely entertaining, humorous and wonderful story in the unmistakable style that is JL Merrow.

I just so loved the multi-facetted side to this story. Robs past, Sean taking care of his nephews, Sean’s sister fighting cancer, Rosie playing matchmaker although with issues of her own, a class of kids that would drive anyone nuts, but you just can’t stop loving them, all with their own stories too. A light and at times funny book with just the right amount of pathos and poignancy to give it a much greater depth of emotion. The balance was perfect. Put all this together served up with a huge portion of wonderful humour and you have an entertaining, feel good story with a great HEA. Personally, I felt it was a little like reading the M/M version of Bridget Jones – brilliant!!

Synopsis

All Noel Dane wants is to escape into his new life in Silver Creek. He has family and friends in this perfect life but things become a little complicated when he meets his mate, his very human mate. Beau Elliot is everything Noel ever wanted, caring, loving, and understanding. It's love at first sight, but Noel still can't find the courage to tell Beau he's a wolf shifter. He knows he has to but he doesn't want to lose the one good thing to come into his life in a long time. No matter how far a person can run, they can never truly escape their past, and Noel has found that out the hard way. Beau is abducted by the same man responsible for Noel's father's death. Noel must now learn to stand up for himself and fight or again be forced to watch someone else he loves die. ** A Siren Erotic Romance

Liza’s Quick Bite

Noel has had a hard time - losing his adopted father and his pack all in the space of a year.  But with his love for books he happily creates a new life for himself at Silver Creek where he makes new friends, sets up his own business (a book shop) and starts to get over his troubles.  One of his most pleasant diversions is watching a tall sexy man go running past his shop every day at four pm.  Beau is a human teacher at the local school.  All his life he has been looking for someone who wants him beyond a one night stand - someone who wants to be with him always.

Their meeting is explosive and so totally in keeping with the true mate trope it is beautiful.  Their relationship is hard and fast, and so hot I had to keep a fan handy.  But Noel hasn't shared with Beau his biggest secret - that he is a wolf shifter and Beau is his mate. When an ex comes back into the picture all hell breaks loose and not in a nice way.  The action there was fast and totally in keeping with the rest of the book and their love - well, Noel never had anything to worry about and he should have trusted his mate a little more.  This is a relatively short, hot story and if you love the true mate trope then you won't be disappointed.  Can be read as standalone.

Monique’s Quick Bite

If you are like me, an obsessive reader, you will consume books at an alarming rate, with one book just replacing another. But occasionally in those quiet moments there are memorable books, those reads that stole a piece of your soul that come back to haunt you and you know it’s time for a re-read to relive those experiences once again. In the Absence of Monsters is a perfect example. JP Barnaby is a writer of immense talent and I find her characters very often whispering in my ear, none more so than Jayden and Ethan… I was fully immersed in lives of these two men and went through the wringer with them, experiencing every emotion possible.

This is not a comfortable read and at times you will feel as though your heart couldn’t possibly break any more, it’s a tragic tale, powerful and intense with all of them at some point or another broken. It’s an incredibly moving journey, full of pain and heartache that only builds as each piece of their lives is laid open, and just like Ethan, Jayden and Lexi,  I too was a mess of confliction and confusion. My heart was hurting… over their decisions, actions and reactions, lack of communication, jealousy! They are far from perfect and they frustrated the hell out of me, loving and disliking them all at some point in the book. They are complex characters that have all kinds of shit thrown at them, and I feared that it would surely break Ethan and Jayden… but it was the learning and understanding of their love and the intimacy of it… and just how profound that emotion was to them, that crushed me, such a beautiful thing, yet so hard for them to grasp and fully embrace through a multitude of fears and anxieties.

In the Absence of Monsters is a BDSM novel, and the scenes are powerful and intensely erotic, JP Barnaby built an explicit picture in my mind as though I were there in the playroom with them during their scene’s, it felt almost voyeuristic and the tension was palpable! However, It is so much more than just the act of sex and release… it is the exploration of the power exchange, the submission and domination and the emotional impact it has on the characters, it is a voyage of discovery for them all.  Amazing author! Excellent book! READ IT!!!

For the main part this book is M/M as Jayden and Ethan are the two main MC’c but there is also a third in the scene’s and that is Lexi, so some of this book is also M/M/F.
