Hello all! Thank you so much for joining me here today at Sinfully as we kick off the blog tour for Healing Hunter’s Heart. I have two special guests with me today. Please welcome the Devin brothers, Hunter Devin and his brother Boone, who’ve very kindly agreed to answer a few questions for us.
Charlie: Hi, fellas. Thank you so much for joining me.
Hunter: Sure thing.
Charlie: Not a fan of the limelight, Boone?
Hunter: Boone’s more of the lurking-behind-the-scenes type of guy.
Boone: *rolls his eyes at his brother* I don’t lurk. I just have no interest in being the center of the universe. Unlike some people I know.
Hunter: *smiles widely* I do like attention.
Charlie: You two have quite the reputation. What’s it like being a Devil Dog?
Boone: What he means is, complicated. We’ve had the title since we were kids. I don’t even know where it came from. It just sprang up one day. It hurt at first. We were so small, just starting our training. We didn’t understand why anyone would think that of us. Our dad sat us down. He was a top Enforcer. We idolized him. He told us it was a sort of mixed blessing. The damage had been done. We could try and fight it, or we could embrace it, use it to our advantage. An Enforcer’s reputation is everything. So we embraced it.
Charlie: Did it bother you?
Hunter: Did it bother me that people genuinely believed my brother and I had been born with demon dog blood? No. Truth be told, it’s helped us avoid plenty of nasty fights. In a way, I think it’s helped us become better Enforcers, because if our reputation alone isn’t enough to scare off a threat, then we had better damn well live up to the name.
Charlie: Boone, what’s it like living the family life with Trip and Robbie?
Boone: *smiles shyly* It’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced. Especially since it’s something I never thought I could have. No matter how much it broke my heart, all I wanted was for Trip to be happy, even if it wasn’t with me. I respected our roles in the clan. He was an Alpha, the next in line to lead the Hagan Clan, and I was his Enforcer. It was my job to protect him, not love him. Fate decided to go one further and have us be true mates. It was a difficult time for both of us. Now, I feel blessed. Waking up to him every morning, getting to share my life and heart with him and Robbie is more than I could have hoped for.
Hunter: And yes, he’s always this sappy when it concerns those two. You should see the way his eyes light up when he sees Trip. Like one of those old Hollywood movies. It’s adorable.
Boone: *mutters something unintelligible under his breath* Look who’s talking. All Ari has to do is bat his lashes and you forget how to breathe.
Hunter: I breathe just fine. Like how I can knock you on your ass just fine.
Boone: *whispers loudly and motions to Hunter*He’s shy.
Hunter: *glares at his brother* You know what, Bo? How about you kiss my—
Charlie: Okay, fellas. Easy now. No fighting.
Hunter: Fighting is in our blood. Also, we’re brothers. If I don’t annoy the ever living crap out of him, who will? I take my brotherly responsibilities very seriously.
Charlie: Speaking of brotherly responsibilities, you have a younger sister, Ivy. She has twin boys, Corbin and Ravyn. Are they really the Spawn of All Evil?
Boone: *laughs* Let me guess. You spoke to Trip.
Hunter: *let’s out a snort and shakes his head* I don’t know where he comes up with these things. All right, so our nephews are a little on the… mischievous side. Does that mean they’re evil itself? No. We were just as troublesome when we were kids.
Boone: *frowns thoughtfully* I don’t think I ever tried to blow up the kitchen.
Hunter: It was one time. Gods. You almost blow up the kitchen once—by accident, mind you—and you’re branded for life.
Boone: I was talking about Ravyn and Corbin almost blowing up Trip’s kitchen with the microwave popcorn.
Hunter: *blinks at Boone* Oh.
Boone: Wait, when did you almost blow up the kitchen?
Hunter: *shrugs* Don’t know what you’re talking about.
Boone: *gasps* It was you! Trip’s birthday when the chocolate cake exploded and the microwave caught fire. That was you!
Boone: Yes, it was! Oh my Gods, I am so telling Trip on you! He blamed it on the twins!
Hunter: You have no proof.
Boone: *shakes his head in shame at his brother* Unbelievable.
Hunter: I’m sorry, I thought we were in the middle of an interview. You can blame the twins later.
Boone: *narrows his eyes at Hunter* I wasn’t blaming the twins. I was blaming you.
Hunter: No, you were falsely accusing. *turns back to me* So, next question?
Charlie: Um… right. *clears throat*. Hunter, tell me about Ari.
Hunter: What do you want to know? I mean, he’s… amazing. Why he fell in love with me is beyond me. He’s sweet, sexy, always smiling, makes me laugh, and is the kindest guy I know. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. Nothing.
Boone: *smiles warmly* He can also bring you to your knees. That’s a pretty powerful thing.
Hunter: *nods* I won’t deny that. Enforcers have to be very careful who they let in. We can’t show any vulnerability out there. Weakness is not an option, and unfortunately having a mate—especially one you love so deeply, is considered a weakness to some. I won’t hide how much I love Ari, but I have to be cautious, not for my sake but for his. There are those who fight without honor and they won’t hesitate to get to you through someone you love.
Charlie: Is life as a canine shifter in St. Veles always that hard? Seems to me like there’s always someone trying to take what you have.
Hunter: *shrugs* That’s life. It’s our life. Canine shifters are very territorial and we have our way of doing things. There’s always someone who’s going to want to take what’s yours because they can, and I for one don’t intend on giving anything up without a fight. Sometimes the fight requires patience. Not exactly my forte.
Boone: *pats Hunter on the leg and smiles* But that’s what we’ve got each other for. We always have each other’s backs. To hell and back.
Hunter: *smiles proudly* That’s right. Devil Dogs all the way.
Charlie: Thanks, guys, for taking the time to talk with us today.
Boone: It’s our pleasure.
Hunter: Now if you’ll excuse us, Trip has some cinnamon buns in the oven.
Boone: Just don’t sneak up on him again.
Hunter: *grins wickedly* No promises.
