A Word from Aaron Ferrara

College is all about new experiences—well, experimenting in general.

Here’s the experiment I undertook when developing and writing the LOST BOYS ACADEMY series:

Take a handful of college dudes who are…into dudes, and lock them away in a dormitory together. Say that homeroom is run by a hot older teacher, who is a ‘reformed’ homosexual. Lastly, make sure under no circumstances that the students give in to their homosexual behavior—that they keep their thoughts, urges, and natural instincts to themselves for the duration of the semester. What do you think is going to happen?

LOST BOYS ACADEMY is a rehab center for homosexual young men. I decided to write this series after years of living in Los Angeles as a gay young man myself. I wasn’t forced into a school like the one I wrote about, but the writing more reflects thoughts, experiences, and my take on what would happen in this particular scenario. The lost boys all have their own story to tell, and are ready to bare all. Well, some of them are more open to ‘baring all’ than others, but each are in for the semester of their lives!

So come take a peek behind the closed doors of the LOST BOYS ACADEMY. Watch the stories, romance, and drama unfold as Jake, Kyle, Alex, Mason, and Jimmy come to terms with who they are, as the faculty attempt to set them—erm…straight.

Oh! And p.s., if you’re more of a visual person, I’ve been running a webcomic alongside the book series as an extra. Lost Boys Academy actually started out as a webcomic, but I fell in love with the characters so much, that I wanted to flesh them out and build on their stories further. Take a look if you’d like to see where it all began! (I would definitely recommend reading book #1 before reading the comic though, as there are spoilers galore.) :)

College life was supposed to be full of adventure, fun, and new experiences. However, the young men attending the Lost Boys Academy will have to forget everything they know when they are forced to rehabilitate their homosexuality.
Devilishly handsome troublemaker Jake Parker is never one to turn down a bet, but the stakes are high when he is challenged to seduce the one person that can get him kicked out of the academy.
The inseparable Kyle and Alex have been dating since sophomore year, but will their relationship be able to survive throughout the constant temptation of living in a dorm filled with other 'rehabilitating' guys their age?
Mason the wallflower - devout Catholic, never one to stir up the pot. But his religion comes into question numerously as he is surrounded by varying degrees of sin.
James, usually seen as the voice of reason, has a few demons of his own to conquer…

Lisa’s Review

“We’re like the fucking boy scouts of America, only gayer.” ~Jake Parker

Lost Boys

Lost Boys Academy 1: Orientation is the first novella in Aaron Ferrara’s new series entitled Lost Boys Academy. I have to admit that when I was offered an advance reading copy of this book I was highly intrigued. I mean, a college that exists for the sole purpose of rehabilitating its male students from their homosexuality??? This was definitely new territory for me when it comes to the M/M novels I read. This turned out to be a fantastically fun read with a plethora of diverse and colorful characters that added to the unique overall story arc.

“I mean, this place is like one of those camps they used to have in the fifties…they try to stomp the gay out of you like it’s something you can change.”

This first installment to the series definitely serves as an introduction of sorts. We are introduced to a cast of characters and as the story progresses we are let in as to the reasons behind what brought each of them to the academy. I loved the diversity that could be found in all the characters; everyone from the over-indulged actor determined to get what he wants, the couple with relationship issues, and the new guy who is a little overwhelmed. Each of the boys brought so much to the story and I am excited to get to know them more as this author takes us deeper into wherever this story is going. It will be interesting to see what the effects of this school will be on each of the students. Will any of the boys buy into what the academy is serving up and…BOOM…there goes your sexual orientation? You are straight now! Magic! Kudos to this author for coming up with a concept that is not only interesting but also writing it in such a way that the reader can’t help but become immersed in all that is going on.

All in all, Lost Boys Academy 1: Orientation was a great start to what I think will be a fascinating series. The writing is fantastic, the concept is original and this first novella leaves you wanting more. Well done, Mr. Ferrara!
