Synopsis

Playboy wolf shifter Wiley can’t duck out of his pack’s biggest annual event, despite knowing his grandmother has possible suitors lined up and waiting. Wiley has no intention of settling down, and the situation dangles just above disaster. Thankfully, Wiley’s best friend, lion shifter Ram, agrees to pose as Wiley’s boyfriend for the weekend.
They find out fate has other plans when they kiss on a dare, and the passion erupts, so hot and intense they fear the couch may spontaneously combust beneath them. Neither man is able to push the small act of affection from his mind, but both struggle with uncertainty and the ramifications of following where their libidos lead.
If they can’t outrun their feelings, they’ll have to muster the courage to face their fears before they lose everything, including their friendship.

Liza’s Review

Ram and Wiley are best friends, teammates (baseball) and shifters. Ram is a lion and Wiley is a wolf. Getting pressured by his family to find a mate and settle down, Wiley convinces Ram to come with him for a family weekend as his boyfriend, to stop his grandmother giving him the evil eye.

This was a slightly unusual take on a shifter mating story. Both men had been friends for a long time, and both had been very active sexually with other people, but never each other. Wiley refuses to entertain any thoughts of commitment, while Ram is more of a serial monogamist. So when they start to view each other in "that way" this is a huge stumbling block for the two men.

One of the things that surprised me about this story was that both men are old, in human terms at least. Wiley is over 100 years old, hence the family pressure, and Ram is about 160. I could understand why both men were hesitant about mating with each other, but it appears that infidelity was possible in this world of shifters.

There were some real funny, yet cringe worthy moments in this book - the Grandmother is one classic example. Who knew wolf shifters could get breast implants? Pip tugged at my heart strings and the time Ram took with the youngster was beautiful. Wiley's parents were delightful although the weekend festivities seemed a little strange to me as well.

Overall this is a lovely book, with a catchy storyline. There wasn't much angst at all - well except for the massive miscommunication between the two men at one point. But it was all resolved peacefully and the HEA was believable given the two men's friendship.

Favorite quote:

"I swear. All the gorgeous men running around and you're checking out my grandmother."
