Dark Soul (The Complete Collection) by Aleksandr Voinov
Rating ~ 5 Stars
Love lights even the darkest soul.
A killer's moral compass rarely points true, and among made men, being gay is a capital crime. But Silvio Spadaro, deadly prodigy and heir to a Family fortune, is determined to find his own way—at the feet of the man he loves or by the barrel of a gun—no matter the dangers or costs.
Stefano Marino lives a comfortable—some might even say enviable—life. As a mob boss at the top of the food chain, he has it all: money, respect, a beautiful wife he loves as much now as the day they wed. But he also has a turf war on his hands, and far too soft a heart for this dark business.
When Silvio is sent to help Stefano with his turf war, sparks fly. Stefano loves his wife, but he wants Silvio. It's a desire he hardly knows how to process, but Silvio, ever the patient predator, maneuvers Stefano closer and closer to his bed each day. Stefano resists; giving in to these dark desires means giving up on his marriage, and exposure would surely mean death. Yet there's no denying Silvio's magnetic pull, or the long-repressed urges inside himself. Yielding is inevitable, but he may yet find a way to hold on to everything—and everyone—he loves.
Monique’s Quick Bite
This series is without a doubt, one of my all time favourite reads, which I have read several times, just needing a fix of Silvio and a reminder of it’s excellence. Each time Mr Voinov takes me on a journey with his words to a place that is unfamiliar and forbidden. It’s dark there, dangerous, and I’m surrounded by villains, nefarious in their actions, they are ruthless killers, predators with no conscience and sexual appetites that knew no bounds.
Whilst I was in this world, I fell in love. His name is Silvio and he broke my heart too many times to count. You see, he has a dark soul and I wanted to reach out and touch it. See it. Delve into its depths to heal all the pain and hurt both physical and emotional. But, he is a master at hiding behind an aura of power and danger, drawing people in and making them feel special, calming them, he makes them feel safe enough to relax, right before the predator steps in. He...doesn't give a fuck. He...is a one man killing machine. That is what the formidable Battista made him, that plus the expertise to be a lover of indubitable skill.
Throughout this series of novellas Mr. Voinov will have you right on the edge, twisting and turning, wondering where the next turn of events will take you, lulling you into a false sense of security before another layer is revealed. I have never read a series that has captivated and overwhelmed me in such a way, that I was bereft at the end, sobbing uncontrollably, for what? the ending? for Silvio? For me? …It’s incredible!
It is also incredible that you can download Vol #1 in the series for FREE from Riptide Publishing! Give it a try… click on the link below.
Just Lion Around by Charlie Richards
Rating ~ 5 Stars
Valarius Lemusson’s pride leaders send him to a shifter gathering in Stone Ridge where various paranormal representatives are discussing the revelation that the government knows about their kind. While there, he enjoys a night at a club and discovers his mate, Brice Gaithers, being attacked in the restroom. He rescues the human and, after filing a police report, takes him back to his room for a night of tender aftercare and sweet seduction.
A surprise meeting with a wolf’s mate reveals that Brice already knows about shifters, giving Valarius hope, until he also learns that Brice wants nothing to do with them. He’s prepared to give his mate time to accept him, but enemies from his past come stalking, forcing his hand. Can Valarius figure out how to convince Brice—someone already intimate with the aggressiveness of shifters—that he can give him the love and stability Brice desperately craves?
Warning: attempted rape scene.
Liza’s Quick Bite
An oldie but a goodie. Valarius is everything you could ever want in a lion shifter - tall, gorgeous, with a kind soul. An enforcer for Alpha Perrin, Valarius is sent to a meeting of paranormals in Wolf Creek country and after a mishap in the bathroom meets Brice. Twinky, cute and running scared of shifters, Brice. How Valarius manages to convince the man who wants nothing to do with shifters, into mating with him is what makes this a beautiful story. The what makes it sexy as all get out and overall this is one of my favorite comfort reads when I am looking for love, hot sex and gentle hearts.
Something Like Summer by Jay Bell
Rating ~ 5 Stars
Love, like everything in the universe, cannot be destroyed. But over time it can change.
The hot Texas nights were lonely for Ben before his heart began beating to the rhythm of two words; Tim Wyman. By all appearances, Tim had the perfect body and ideal life, but when a not-so-accidental collision brings them together, Ben discovers that the truth is rarely so simple. If winning Tim’s heart was an impossible quest, keeping it would prove even harder as family, society, and emotion threaten to tear them apart.
Something Like Summer is a love story spanning a decade and beyond as two boys discover what it means to be friends, lovers, and sometimes even enemies.
Mark’s Quick Bite
This was my kind of book. LOVED IT! A slow burn and gradual build up that takes the reader on an emotional journey of discovery. The author gives us a great insight into the uncontrollable emotional turmoil of teenagers. Oh my, the devious machinations of hormonal teenagers with a crush.
It takes the reader on Ben’s story, a journey as multi-facetted as life itself. This book is a must read for all those out there, who like me, like to be taken on such journeys of emotional discovery. I loved the character of Ben, his tenacity, his positive outlook on things and never giving up. The author handles the different emotional phases of Ben’s development very well, from tempestuous teenager to experienced, mature adult. Not an easy thing to do and here I can only say it is very well done indeed.

Macky’s Quick Bite
'Inseparable' is set around Christmas, however don't let that sway you as it works just as well as a general contemporary romance. It's the epitome of the term "short, sweet and satisfying". With endearing MC's and an engaging storyline, it's the perfect choice for winding down after a particular heavy reading session. Not a long read, but Chris Scully managed to leave me just as satisfied as if I'd just finished an enjoyable full length novel. I adored it. The amnesia wasn't annoying, the gay/straight conundrum was pitched perfectly and the fact that the only sex involved was sensual, hot, tingly kisses made it all the more delicious. There's a longer follow up called 'When Adam Kissed Me' which is just as much a little gem as this. Both are now forever in my keepers...absolutely delightful!
