Officer Shawn Everly patrols the Strip. Fireman Trent Marshall saves him when danger strikes. But it’s uncertain whether Trent can save himself from getting his heart broken by Shawn.
The party never ends on the Las Vegas strip, but neither does the danger. Officer Everly is new to the beat, having recently relocated to Vegas from Los Angeles. Foot patrol on The Strip is a demanding assignment because he’s up close and personal with the public. But what he’d really like to do is get up close and personal with Station 32’s hunky fireman, Trent Marshall.
Trent has been a fireman for over ten years and is dedicated to his job. He’s built tough and is a no-nonsense man of few words. At a local blood drive, Trent meets the handsome new officer on foot patrol, but won’t let himself get too close. He’s lost love before when his policeman lover was killed in the line of fire.
During an emergency, Trent’s over-protective instincts kick in when he believes Shawn is in harm’s way. He ends up embarrassing and angering Shawn in front of their fellow officers, which seems as though it will end any hope of Trent having a chance with the young man he can’t push from his mind.
Shawn can’t decide whether he wants to punch or kiss Trent. Kissing wins. Once they spend some time together away from the stresses of their jobs, they find that they’re not just compatible—they’re combustible.
But Trent can’t seem to accept that there are hazards that come with working in law enforcement. Right as they’re discovering how much they mean to one another, the danger escalates on The Strip. The underground vigilante group, The Citizens Against Immorality, have raised the stakes. Will Shawn and Trent be their next targets?
Reader Advisory: This book contains scenes of violence and the use of sex toys. It is best read in sequence as part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Liza’s Review

Shawn and Trent are like alcohol in a fire - totally combustible but not that safe to be around. Shawn Everly is a new officer on the Vegas strip and used to danger. Trent Marshall is a ten year veteran of the fire department. Both men want each other, but Trent has already lost one lover in the line of duty and he's not about to do it again.

Never shoulda looked at me like that if you didn't want to play.

Unfortunately nothing is straight forward with these two hard headed men. Trent thinks he would be better off with a man he'd dated previously, but who was safe. That was until a fire in the restaurant they were in put Trent and Shawn back in the same orbit again.

It was a look Shawn doubted he could ever get enough of, the sort of look that made a man want to fall into a spontaneous orgasm.

There were a number of times when I wanted to hit Trent, and Shawn on other occasions. I can understand the men had issues, Trent in particular, and that is fine. But Trent's over zealousness was a bit over the top at times, although he did try to keep it under wraps.

The secondary characters had a lot of input in their friends' lives and as with any small place (I never thought Vegas was small, but it was written that way) gossip played its part in the story.

I mentioned earlier that the two men together were combustible and the intimacy in this book kept me fanning my face on more than one occasion. I like how this author allows so much build up between the two men before anything happens. She also allows you glimpses into both men's thoughts so you know where each of them is at, in terms of their relationship status. I found that really helpful because as the book progressed, you see how their relationship changed both men.

Overall this should be an automatic read for anyone who loves hot men in uniform, a gripping storyline (aside from the romance) and love earned the hard way. The characters are lively and with strong personalities. The story moves quickly and the dialogue is realistic and entertaining. Morticia Knight is already on my auto-buy list and I strongly recommend you put her on yours.
