Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: October 27, 2014
He’ll train her to lure another man. She’ll lure him instead.
When interior designer Eliza Ballas accompanies a friend to New York’s premier BDSM club, she’s taken aback by the sheer want that overruns her body—especially when a sexy Brit assumes Eliza is adept at dark, sensual arts. If she’s going to play, she’ll need an erotic education, and she knows just the man to teach her how to submit…
Oliver Preston isn’t one to turn down pleasure, but Eliza’s his sister’s best friend, and he’s torn between a sense of duty and his rock-hard need to find out if she tastes as delicious as he’s dreamed. Unable to handle thought of another man owning her body, he draws Eliza deep into his world of exquisite pain and pleasure. He has three lessons to instruct her. Three lessons to drive them both to the brink of ecstasy. And three lessons before he must give her to another man...if he doesn’t lose himself first.
4 “Stick to the Plan” Stars!
“Just two consenting adults getting it on, passing on some gold old BDSM knowledge, nothing to see here. Moving right along.”
Exposed by Fate is book two in Tessa Bailey’s Serve series. I have read a few books by this author and I have to say if they were giving out awards for the best dirty talkers, Ms. Bailey would win hands downs. I would also go as far as saying if dirty talking was an Olympic event, the alpha males created by this author would take home all the gold medals. Truly. Every single one of them. So, suffice it to say, this book was a hot little number. Damn!
“He’ll train her to lure another man. She’ll lure him instead.”
Eliza Ballas and Oliver Preston have known each other for over seven years. As Oliver’s sister’s best friend, Eliza has been a common fixture in the Preston home. They both have successful careers and they also both share an underlying attraction for one another that they have chosen to ignore for obvious reasons. Brother + sister’s bestie = disaster in the making. Just pointing it out. ;)
Ever since Caroline (the best friend and sister) dragged her to Serve, a BDSM club, Eliza can’t help but want to experience what it is like to submit and play a little dirty kinky fuckery, particularly when it comes a sexy Brit that she met at the club. However, Eliza is as inexperienced as they come and she fears that her inexperience and doe-eyed innocence when it comes to BDSM will turn away the gorgeous man she met her first night at Serve. Eliza needs an education, and not the kind you get a college degree for. She needs to learn all about the art of submission. And, who better to teach her than the one man she knows who does not turn down any form of pleasure. Oliver Preston. After all……
“Oliver Preston looked at women as though he were already inside them.”
So the unapologetic playboy…..
becomes the trainer….
Oliver and Eliza strike up a deal. Three sessions. Oliver will have three sessions to train Eliza on how to submit so that she will be able to confidently approach the sexy Brit she has had her eye on. Oliver may be torn when it comes to teaching Eliza about the sensual arts; however, there is no way he can say no when he has dreamed about the beautiful Greek goddess for years. As Oliver and Eliza begin their erotic play times, they both experience more than they bargained for. Eliza blossoms under the firm hand of Oliver and they each bring forth a bundle of mixed emotions from each other. At the end of the sessions, will they both be able to walk away from one another as if nothing had transpired between them? Will Oliver be able to see Eliza walk away right into the arms of another man?
This was a highly enjoyable read that was not only super sexy but also tugged at my heart strings. I loved watching Eliza and Oliver struggle through all that they were feeling for each other. The dam was opened when they began their sessions. It was as if having the excuse to get down and dirty with one another under the guise of the sessions would protect their hearts from getting involved. How misled our hero and heroine were! Because, how can you ignore your heart when it has known all along who it belongs to?
All in all, Exposed by Fate is a wonderful addition to this series. Tessa Bailey has penned yet another fun, erotic and sensual tale of love, this time bringing us Oliver and Eliza. Watching the two dance around one another and finally succumb to their feelings was a sweet journey. I have no idea what is up next for this series; but, I am all in. Bring it!

Eight Questions with Me, Tessa Bailey (posed by my Bailey’s Babes Facebook Group)
About a year ago, I started a Facebook group called Bailey’s Babes so I could chat with readers privately about what they’d like to see in my books, share teasers, give away advanced copies of upcoming releases. Things like that. It has since grown to 850 members and our topics of discussion range from book recommendations to our members having babies. I write original scenes involving past characters and the most recent addition has been Fine Ass Saturday where (you guessed it) we share one spectacularly fine ass...on Saturday. This is such a special group of ladies who have even made plans to meet in real life and they had some questions for me. Here we go!
Do you have a muse? What triggers your inspiration?
If copious amounts of wine is a muse, then yes! I do. My best ideas come when I’m slightly tipsy, which puts me at a disadvantage because my notes only make sense thirty percent of the time. My other muses are showers and sleep. I’ve been known to wake up at two am and dive out of bed for my iPhone so I can make notes/plot. Every time I’m stuck with a scene, I can usually work it out under the hot shower spray, staring creepily at the wet tile. The running theme here is, I need to disconnect in order to reconnect.
If you had to pick one character most like you, who would it be?
I would have to say Willa, from UNFIXABLE. Until that book, I hadn’t written any New Adult, but I found it easy to regress back to my early twenties while speaking in her voice. Mostly because she’s mature for her age, probably a little too mature. She’s stubborn and has a hard time communicating, but is tremendously loyal when it counts. So, at least, I hope I’m like her.
What do you do for fun when you’re not writing?
I write a lot, so my down time is a lot of decompressing. On weekdays, I go for a run or get a pedicure. Spend time with my daughter. Read books. On the weekends, I am a total brunch junkie. I text my friends like, “Who’s up for day drinking and eggs benedict??” My favorite people on this planet are ones that get excited for food and a chat. That’s what brunch is about. I always come home afterward feeling like I’ve got everything in my life worked out.
Do you and your husband “try out” scenes to make sure they’ll work in real life?
Hahhhha! Yes. Although, I don’t think there is anything I could write that we haven’t done over the course of eleven years. So I’m mainly writing from experience at this point J When we’re finished *ahem* getting it on, he likes to ask me if I’ve been inspired. Sicko.
Do you try and give each couple their own kink, or does it just work out that way?
Most of the time, the kink presents itself when the characters get intimate for the first time. There’s something in their unique personalities that I haven’t fully acknowledged until they’re buck naked and then – boom – they’re a biter. Or they need to be spanked. Or denied orgasm. Other times, as with Hayden and Brent in ASKING FOR TROUBLE, I knew going into the process that Hayden needed to be on top, needed control she was lacking in her own life. Brent was more than willing to give it to her, which made them a perfect match.
Have you ever done anything in real life your characters have done?
Sure! That’s probably where I got the ideas. Like Willa in UNFIXABLE, I hooked up with an Irish bartender from Dublin (my husband). Like Story in OFFICER OFF LIMITS, I’ve drank too much and sang bad karaoke, particularly the song “No Scrubs.” And I’ve done it over and over again. I never learn. Ruby from HIS RISK TO TAKE was a pool hustler and while I’m not as skilled as her, I might have played for money once or twice J
Where did you learn to talk so dirty?
I don’t know! LOL. I wish I had a good answer, because I’ve been asked before. When I read a romance novel and come to a sex scene, I skim forward to the dialogue. Always have. There is something fascinating to me about the lack of filter people have when they’re engaging in sex. I love men who speak filthy and I don’t think it makes them disrespectful to the heroine, nor does it mean he loves her any less because he slaps her backside and says, “Get that ass up in the air, baby. Take me deep.” I think those are words women want to hear. They mean you’re desired.
What is your favorite type of scene to write?
Sex scenes are my favorite. I live for them, but coming (heh) in a close second is the scenes where the man loses the woman. His dark moment where he realizes he’s lost the one good thing in his life – and he’s miserable. It might sound sadistic, but I love that moment. My stomach aches and I have to pretend I’ve been chopping onions when my husband walks into the room. The hero is just, “Oh god, oh god…I can’t breathe without her,” or some variation of that sentiment. I LOVE IT. I love that he is seeing what life will be like if he doesn’t get his shit together and win her back.
Tessa Bailey is originally from Carlsbad, California. The day after high school graduation, she packed her yearbook, ripped jeans and laptop, driving cross-country to New York City in under four days.
Her most valuable life experiences were learned thereafter while waitressing at K-Dees, a Manhattan pub owned by her uncle. Inside those four walls, she met her husband, best friend and discovered the magic of classic rock, managing to put herself through Kingsborough Community College and the English program at Pace University at the same time. Several stunted attempts to enter the work force as a journalist followed, but romance writing continued to demand her attention.
She now lives in Brooklyn, New York with her husband of seven years and three-year-old daughter. Although she is severely sleep-deprived, she is incredibly happy to be living her dream of writing about people falling in love.
