Rating ~ 4 Stars

Synopsis

Tucker Gray is a Baltimore, MD waiter, hailing from the deep south, whose mental health issues and past relationships have made it hard to trust more than the cut. After he hits what he thought was rock bottom Tucker decides to keep close to the ones who stood by him and keep his head down, until he finds something to prove it can get better.
Jesse Bauer is unsure what his future holds after an injury forces him to retire from the marines. With all of the decisions he has to make in his civilian life with all of its freedoms and possibilities, he feels staying closeted and keeping the people in his life happy will keep down the chaos.
Until the night he met Tucker Gray at a party he thought that’d be possible, but both of them are instantly and strongly in lust. As their relationship grows Jesse has to prove himself and Tucker has to learn to trust more than the cut.

Mark’s Quick Bite

This book deals with real life; ugly warts and all! Real emotions, real reactions, real trials and tribulations. Reality is not pretty sometimes, but happiness can be found if you're prepared to fight for it. I liked this book at lot due to the fact that it doesn’t give one-sided characters, the characters are very real and complicated but then again that’s life. For me this book didn’t just have the standard two MCs, but four main MCs.

Wonderful and powerful writing, the emotion was palpable and left me emotionally drained. Kade's style is not overly flowery, but he manages to convey a power of emotion in his words that I really love. The characters were realistic and just as complicated as any real life situation. Whether we understand this or not for me doesn't matter. That's life. A great book.

Love the Sinner (Brooklyn Sinners #1) by Avril Ashton

13615101

Rating ~ 5 Stars

Synopsis

Detective Gabriel Ashby has never looked twice at another man, yet the criminal across from him, the man he’s interrogating, isn’t like any other. Gabe can’t deal with the sudden, intense need he has for one of NYPD’s Most Wanted. Everyone close to Angelo Pagan ends up dead, with the smug gang leader standing amid the rubble. Gabe would love nothing more than to bust Angelo’s ass and lock him up. So why is he seeing the bastard in his dreams at night?
Angelo Pagan knows attraction to Gabe is suicide. He’s resolute to ignore the chemistry…until a police raid goes wrong. He critically injures Gabe, changing the trajectory of both their lives. Now the two can’t get close enough. They settle into a forbidden affair threatened by lies and betrayal, living on different sides of the law with no way of breaching the gap between them. With the authorities looking to make an example of Angelo, Gabe has to decide if it’s really worth it to hate the sin but love the sinner.

Macky’s Review

Avril Ashton writes brilliant bad boys...and I mean bad boys in the true sense of the word because these are guys who live in a world of 'kill or be killed' gangs and there's no sugar coating from this author when it comes to what lengths they'll go to to survive the life they're enmeshed in. If the situation demands death then these men will dole it out without a second thought but somehow amongst all this, Avril still manages to make you fall for them hook, line and sinker! Attraction between her guys is instant and love comes quickly on the heels of that but again, it works because the chemistry and sexual tension is so palpable you can almost reach out and grasp it. Notorious gang leader Angelo Pagan and straight police detective Gabriel Ashby make exactly that type of magic together in this sexy high octane crime/thriller romance and it grabs with an intensity that makes it impossible to put down once you get started. I loved how the passion and on the edge of your seat situations made this book a read that had me rooting hard for these two complete opposites of the law to make it through all the danger and get their happy ever after, because there were times when I just couldn't see how that could ever happen! Phew! Talk about nail biting!!! I read this the year it was first released but never got to follow the rest up. Having been reminded just how fabulous her books are, I've recently acquired the rest in audio format so I can see an Avril Ashton back to back listen coming on ASAP! Yes! Bad boy fix on the horizon!

Double Full (Nice Guys #1) by kindle Alexander

81A3RBuB59L._SL1500_

Rating ~ 4.5 Stars

Synopsis

Up and coming football hero, Colt Michaels, makes a Hail Mary pass one night in the college locker room that results in the hottest, sexiest five days of his young life. However, interference after the play has him hiding his past and burying his future in the bottom of a bottle. While Colt seems to have it all, looks can be deceiving especially when you're trapped so far in a closet that you can't see your way out. When ten years of living his expected fast-lane lifestyle lands him engaged to his manipulative Russian supermodel girlfriend, he decides it's time to call a new play.
Jace Montgomery single-handily built the largest all-star cheerleading gym in the world, driven by a need to forget a life-altering encounter with a handsome quarterback a decade ago. His reputation as an excellent coach, hard-nosed business man, and savvy entrepreneur earned him respect in the sometimes catty world of competitive cheerleading. When Jace learns of his ex-lover's plans to marry, his heart executes a barrel roll and his carefully placed resolve tumbles down without a mat to absorb the shock. Can his island escape help him to finally let go of the past and move his life forward?

Monique’s Quick Bite

With the release today of Full Disclosure (Nice Guys #2) by Kindle Alexander, it was a no brainer to include the first book in the series Double Full, as my recommended read.

I truly loved this book and as a reader Double Full is my idea of  perfect story telling… it’s escapism, it’s a love story that will melt your heart and have you in tears, with two characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, it’s passionate and sensual with HOT panty melting sex! …My poor heart didn’t know whether it was coming or going, broken one minute then lifted the next, pounding in frustration or about to burst with anger. Kindle brings in characters that will have you on the edge of your seat ready to do some serious damage, all combined with the intrigue of a mystery. I was filled with hope only to have it shattered, replaced by rage at the injustice of the world and the homophobes that we live amongst… Colt and Jace are soul mates, undeniably so, and theirs is a love story of star crossed lovers whose destiny can only be found in the strength of their unerring love, a love that was founded on a moment in time and despite years of separation and those that conspired against them, their love for each other was the only constant in their lives… Double Full is a compelling and fabulous read!

  23. I haven't read any of this week's picks, but would like to read all. The funny thing (or not so funny depending on who you ask)is I will probably have gotten them all before I find out if I have won. My book addiction is a tad bit out of control. If there was a readers anonymous I would be a member. And sorry to say folks at SSB I love ya!, but you would have to be listed as an enabler. At least I'm stuck on the m/m genre now. That narrows it down a bit. My ebook collection will qualify as an inheritance to pass on when I'm gone. Although I'm kinda a perv on the down low. None of my friends read. Why am I friends with them anyways?? It's a good thing I have you all. I know you understand!!! I clearly need more online book friends. But I'd be hard pressed to find time to chat, because of my addiction and all.
