Title: He’s So Fine(Lucky Harbour, #11)
Author: Jill Shalvis
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 26 2014
For Olivia Bentley, Lucky Harbor is more than the town where she runs her new vintage shop. It's the place where folks are friendly to strangers-and nobody knows her real name. Olivia does a good job of keeping her past buried, not getting too cozy with anyone . . . until she sees a man drowning. Suddenly she's rushing into the surf, getting up close and personal with the hottest guy she's ever laid hands on.
Charter boat captain Cole Donovan has no problem with a gorgeous woman throwing her arms around his neck in an effort to "save" him. In fact, he'd like to spend a lot more time skin-to-skin with Olivia. He's just not expecting that real trouble is about to come her way. Will it bring her deeper into Cole's heart, or will it be the end of Olivia's days in little Lucky Harbor?
4 “Hey, Supergirl” Stars
He’s So Fine is book eleven in Jill Shalvis’ Lucky Harbor series. I am a super huge fan of this author and reading her books always feels like coming home, particularly this series. We are once again back in the quirky town of Lucky Harbor revisiting the lovable and eccentric habitants. This author seems to follow a familiar formula with many of her books; however, it is a formula that most definitely works and keeps me engrossed with the story and her beautifully developed characters. Jill Shalvis writes fantastically hilarious and witty tales, swoony romances and hot and sexy times that leave you all hot and bothered. This book is no exception. Another heart-warming gem about learning to trust in that someone special and learning to trust in love.
“Good this she knew better than anyone that fairy tales didn’t exist. Never had. Never would.”
Olivia Bentley is a recent inhabitant of Lucky Harbor. The small town is Olivia’s chance to start fresh, escape from her past and become the person she has always wanted to be. Olivia has somewhat recreated herself and is running a new vintage shop in town, Unique Boutique. Too afraid to let anyone get too close fearing that they may discover who she is, Olivia has learned the hard way to hide behind the hardened shell and cool façade she has built around her. She is desperately trying to forget her past and determined to keep it buried. When Olivia literally lands on one of the owners of the boat chartering business in Lucky Harbor in a desperate attempt to save him from drowning, she can’t seem to stop herself from getting close with the sexy man despite her inner warning signals going off at an alarming rate and despite her past once again coming to the forefront of her life.
“So honest. So up front. Again, no games, no hidden agendas, just….Cole.”
Cole Donovan is an honest, black-and-white sort of guy who can McGyver his way through any fix-it problem. He runs a boat chartering business, Lucky Harbor Charters, with his two best friends and is the captain, chief navigator and mechanic of the team. Between keeping himself busy with the business and being the town handy guy as well as the person his family depends on, Cole definitely keeps himself too distracted to wallow in his grief and anger over being dumped by his ex-girlfriend and losing one of his best friends two years prior. Cole loves is family and those he is close to wholeheartedly and he is also still dealing with the blow of losing his father a year ago. Cole has not let another woman in for two years now; however, he can’t seem to help himself from pursuing the beautiful owner of the town vintage shop when Olivia crashes her way into his life…literally.
Cole is determined to break through the nonchalant attitude that Olivia has. He knows that she is as attracted to him as he is to her by the way she watches him. As the pair get closer they both are reluctant to be completely open and forthcoming about their pasts. Can they both be courageous enough to take that leap of faith? When Olivia’s past comes knocking, will Cole understand? Will Olivia be strong enough to stand up and fight the battle that needs fighting and stay in Lucky Harbor embracing the life she has created for herself there?
I loved this romantic love story. I absolutely loved both Cole and Olivia. They both had issues that prevented them from jumping right into a romantic entanglement. I loved how Cole slowly worked his way in. Mr. Irresistible Charmer. Who would stand a chance against him? Not Olivia. I adored watching these two find their way to each other in such a way that can only come from Jill Shalvis. For me, she is the queen of penning light-hearted, funny and sexy romances that sweep me off my feet and have me swooning and laughing out loud. Olivia and Cole’s road to happiness was real and sweet and had me transported to my happy place, somewhere only a great romance novel can take me.
All in all, He’s So Fine is another wonderfully executed romance by an author who has yet to let me down. This book is not bogged down with unnecessary over-the-top angst and drama. That is definitely not how Jill Shalvis’ books work. What you get is a sweet, fun and light-hearted love story that will leave you happily sighing and seeking out a sexy man from Lucky Harbor of your own. One more books left in this beloved series. So bitter sweet and yet I am anxiously awaiting to find out how Tanner meets his match.
