5 “Beautifully Addicted” Stars

“Absolution’s not always a bad thing.”

Beyond Addiction is book five in the Beyond series written by the writing duo known as Kit Rocha. I am hopelessly addicted to this series and the fantastically kinky world this pair of authors has managed to create. I highly recommend that you read this series in order as all the books flow into one another with overlapping storylines and world building. The raunchy and gritty dystopian world that this pair of authors has created is unmatched in its creativeness and uniqueness. This fifth installment commences right where the last book leaves us. This time the focus is on Trix. She is thrust back into a world that she left behind, right back into the arms of a man she never thought she would see again. Trix is once again face to face with her biggest addiction.

Trix lived her life in Sector Five hopelessly addicted and on a path to destruction. She managed to find the strength and the courage to escape and leave it all behind her, even if that also meant leaving her heart in that god forsaken sector. Now, as an O’Kane, Trix has a life she loves and is proud of. When she is kidnapped and sent back into the hell she has tried so hard to forget, Trix lands right in the arms of the man who thought he lost her, thought she was dead. Finn is there trying to protect her and get her back to Sector Four. However, old habits die hard and even though Trix is no longer the same woman who left Sector Five behind her in the dust, she is not sure she will be able to leave Finn behind a second time.

“Some people have darkness in them. They don’t want it, don’t want to give in to it. But it comes out, one way or another, and it feels good to let it out.”

Finn is an enforcer for Sector Five. Working for evil incarnated has slowly eaten away at him, painstakingly leaving dents on his tarnished soul. His goal is to take down Sector Five and it’s brutally corrupt leaders right from under their noses. He has a mission. It is all thwarted when Trix reappears in the mix. Losing Trix and then believing she was dead changed Finn irrevocably. Now, nothing will stop him get her away from the danger of Sector Five and see her safely back to Sector Four where she belongs. He will risk it all for the only woman who has pushed her way into his dilapidated heart.

"Tell me this is different," she begged.

"I don’t have to." He pressed his forehead to her temple, his breath hot against her cheek. "You can feel it. You know it in your bones. Nothing's the same as before."
Because he wasn't fighting her anymore. Fighting himself. They were sober, clear-headed, free to do what they wanted--and this was it. More than anything else, more than breath.

“It won’t be easy.” Finn smiled and stroked his thumb along the sweet, full curve of her lower lip. He knew what it tasted like now. He knew how she moaned when he caught it between his teeth, she melted when he growled against it.

“Some things are worth it.”

With Trix and Finn reunited, it becomes impossible to ignore the sizzling spark that is still burning bright between them. But, things are different now. No longer are they under the haze of powerful drugs reaching for one another in a drugged-out stupor. Both Trix and Finn are desperate for a second chance with one another; however, the stakes are higher now. There is no hiding behind intoxicating drugs. Being together now means they do it stone cold sober and with all their wits in place. Their attraction and profound connection is the one addiction neither one has been able to kick. This could turn into something earth-shatteringly beautiful or it could end up costing them everything.

“The people of Sector Four killed readily enough to preserve their way of life, but then they put down their guns and their knives and they lived. That was the part no one had ever taught him how to do.”

Once Trix and Finn are safe in Sector Four, things become more complex. The O’Kane’s have become Trix’s family but will they welcome a man who drugged innocents and committed other inconceivable acts? The O’Kanes don’t necessarily make it easy for Finn, but they are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt because of how Trix feels about him. Finn not only has a second chance at love but he also has a second chance at a new life. A life that represent freedom, family and being a part of something that is good rather than destructive and evil. Getting accustomed to the O’Kane way of life may take some getting used to but Finn is willing to do anything to make Trix happy. When push comes to shove, however, can Finn keep his promises to the woman he loves?

“We do what we want, and fuck whoever doesn’t like it.” ~O’Kane motto

Getting caught up with the O’Kanes and their kinky fuckery is always one of the things I look forward to most when diving into a new book in this series. I love how they represent family, freedom and simply do not care what the outside world thinks about them. Their indulgent ways can be intoxicating and can seduce even the most cynical bastard. With all this being said, what I absolutely adored about this book was the fact that it starts off in a completely different sector. The focus is on one O’Kane outside of their hedonistic paradise. We are dropped into a different land, one that is sadistic and evil. It definitely gave the first part of this book a different feel and I loved that! Further, we also get to find out more about Sector Five and Sector Six proving once again that the imaginations of these authors know no bounds when it comes to this dystopian world. Kit Rocha continue to add layer upon complex layer and intricately interweave an overall story arc that is not only fascinating but brilliant as all heck.

Four years and a world of distance hadn't stopped them from winding up right here at this very moment. He'd thought she was dead, and that hadn't stopped him from picking her up when she'd stumbled back into his life.

Nothing would stop him, and she needed to hear it so badly that her throat ached. "Say it," she whispered against his skin. "Just once."

"I'm not going anywhere," he promised, low and rough. "I'll never leave you."

“I love you, Finn.”

He closed his eyes. “I’m gonna work every fucking day until I deserve you.”

The love story between Trix and Finn was very heart-felt and emotional. Something I was not expecting. I admit that I shed a few tears which is a first for me in this series. Trix and Finn have been through a lot and they have to overcome many emotional hurdles to get to a place of peace. Them finding a way back to one another was nothing short of beautifully intense.

And, if you are wondering if this book in the series follows its predecessors and is smutty goodness at its absolute best. Well, do you really think it would be any other way? Finn has to be introduced to the pleasure-seeking and debauched lifestyle of the O’Kanes. And, holy fiery crotch-rockets! Kit Rocha has penned some erotically charged, filthy and panty-wetting goodness. Be prepared for your girly parts (or your boy parts) not only to tingle but to be explosively electrocuted. I’m not kidding.

“And the one thing he’d never given her – the one thing she’d asked for again and again – was the rough, raw sensation of being taken. Not teased, not pleasured. Taken.”

Need I say more?

I didn’t think so.

All in all, Beyond Addiction proved to me once again why I am such a fan-girl of these authors and this series. You simply never know what to expect with each book. The overall story arc as it pertains to the O’Kanes and all that is going down is cleverly interwoven into each book. Further, with each book you get a deliciously sexy love story. I can’t get enough of this series and the people who make up Sector Four. They have all somehow weaved their way into my panties heart. The next book due out, Beyond Possession (#5.5), is due out November 2014. I need more! I can’t wait!

“You and me, baby. There isn’t anything else.”

“Yeah, there is,” he replied, closing one hand over her wrist. Over her ink. “You and me, and everything else.”

Her family. She slid her arms around his neck and pressed her lips to his cheek, breathing her own promise. “And everything else.”
