Where Nerves End (Tucker Springs #1) by L.A. Witt Blog Tour & Giveaway

You will probably have noticed that L.A. Witt, Heidi Cullinan and Marie Sexton are huge favourites of ours here at SSBR, so combine that with a series they have all collaborated on and you’ll find we have all read and loved the men of Tucker Springs over the last couple of years. So we were are delighted that this week, we are hosting the Tucker Springs, Take it Back to the Beginning Tour, featuring the re-release and publication by Riptide Publishing of the first book in the series Where Nerves End.

Today we are thrilled that L.A. Witt has popped in to say hello and give us an insight into just how that collaboration works. And all this week we will be posting our reviews from this fabulous series, starting today with Second Hand by Heidi Cullinan and Marie Sexton which I reviewed back in September 2012. We will also have another treat for you as the lovely Marie Sexton will be stopping by later in the week for a visit too… twice in one week… I best get Mark baking more cakes!

A Word from L. A. Witt

Welcome to the Riptide Publishing/L. A. Witt blog tour for Where Nerves End! This is the the first -- and final -- book in Tucker Springs, a series written with Marie Sexton and Heidi Cullinan. Thank you to Sinfully Sexy Book Reviews for hosting the tour all this week.

Tucker Springs was my first joint writing experience. I’d been curious about collaborating with other authors for some time, but when Marie and I started talking about Tucker Springs back in 2012, I still wasn’t sure about the idea of actually co-writing. So this was the perfect way to dip my toes in—we were working together and building the same world, developing the same characters, etc., but each story was its own. They built on each other, of course, but I didn’t have someone looking over my shoulder while I was writing.

It’s an exercise in teamwork, that’s for sure. While the stories stand on their own, major things (alterations to the world itself, like Marie setting buildings on fire) had to be cleared through the other authors. Or rather, authors needed to know so they didn’t repaint the building the previous author had burned to the ground.

There was also the business aspect—instead of making a publication decision on my own, it was something that had to be sorted out with multiple people. Agreeing on a publisher. Agreeing on contract terms. The order of the series. Things like that. To say the least, it was a new experience all around.

While it certainly isn’t as *simple* as writing solo, this kind of collaboration is a ton of fun. Marie and I have used each other’s characters to sort out snags in our stories, for example—her character needed a friend in Never a Hero, and that friendship later played a role in After the Fall. And really, the bottom line is… it’s fun. Collaborations, it turned out, are a blast.

As I said, in the beginning, I still wasn’t sure about actually co-writing a book, but Tucker Springs laid the groundwork for me getting over that. Now I’m happily co-writing with several co-authors, and have never looked back.

And as for future multi-author series? You’d better believe I’m doing another—check out Bluewater Bay, coming this fall from Riptide!

The Tucker Springs Universe

Welcome to Tucker Springs, population 75,000 + you! This collaborative story world is brought to you by three award-winning LGBTQ authors: Heidi Cullinan, Marie Sexton, and L.A. Witt.

The fictional town of Tucker Springs is located on the western slope of Colorado, in between Grand Junction and Silverton. One of the themes of Tucker Springs is that what you see is not what you get. Take, for example, the “springs.” Although many neighboring towns have actual hot springs, the spring here is more of a bubbling mud puddle. Locals like to trick newbies by sending them in search of it.

The Tucker Springs stories are a series of loosely-connected, standalone novels. Most of them take place in the Light District, a.k.a. Hacktown, a district known for its theaters, galleries, intimate nightspots, and music.

Jason Davis can handle a breakup. And an overwhelming mortgage. And a struggling business. And the excruciating pain that keeps him up at night thanks to a shoulder injury. But all of it at once? Not so much. When his shoulder finally pushes him to a breaking point, Jason takes a friend’s advice and gives acupuncture a try.

Acupuncturist Michael Whitman is a single dad struggling to make ends meet. When a mutual friend refers Jason as a patient, and Jason suggests a roommate arrangement to alleviate their respective financial strains, Michael jumps at the opportunity.

But Jason soon finds himself regretting it—he’s too damn attracted to Michael, and living with him is harder than he thought it’d be. In fact, the temptation to act on his feelings would almost be too much if not for the fact that Michael is straight. Or at least, that’s what their mutual friend claims.

(Note: This is a revised second edition, with minor additions, of the first edition originally published elsewhere.)

About Heidi Cullinan

Heidi Cullinan has always loved a good love story, provided it has a happy ending. She enjoys writing across many genres but loves above all to write happy, romantic endings for LGBT characters because there just aren't enough of those stories out there. When Heidi isn't writing, she enjoys cooking, reading, knitting, listening to music, and watching television with her husband and ten-year-old daughter. Heidi is a vocal advocate for LGBT rights and is proud to be from the first midwestern state with full marriage equality.

About Marie Sexton

Marie Sexton lives in Colorado. She’s a fan of just about anything that involves muscular young men piling on top of each other. In particular, she loves the Denver Broncos and enjoys going to the games with her husband. Her imaginary friends often tag along. Marie has one daughter, two cats, and one dog, all of whom seem bent on destroying what remains of her sanity. She loves them anyway.

About L.A. Witt

L.A. Witt is an abnormal M/M romance writer currently living in the glamorous and ultra-futuristic metropolis of Omaha, Nebraska, with her husband, two cats, and a disembodied penguin brain that communicates with her telepathically. In addition to writing smut and disturbing the locals, L.A. is said to be working with the US government to perfect a genetic modification that will allow humans to survive indefinitely on Corn Pops and beef jerky. This is all a cover, though, as her primary leisure activity is hunting down her arch nemesis, erotica author Lauren Gallagher, who is also said to be lurking somewhere in Omaha.

L. A.’s backlist is available on her website, and updates (as well as random thoughts and the odd snarky comment) can be found on her blog or on Twitter (@GallagherWitt).
