Dark Soul Vol #1 (Dark Soul #1) by Aleksandr Voinov

Rating ~ 5 Stars

Synopsis

Stefano Marino is a made man, a happily married west coast mafia boss who travels east to await the death of a family patriarch. All the old hands have gathered—of course sharks will circle when there’s blood in the water—but it’s a new hand that draws Stefano’s eye.
Silvio “the Barracuda” Spadaro is protetto and heir to retired consigliereGianbattista Falchi, and a made man in his own right. Among his underworld family, being gay is a capital crime, but the hypersexual—and pansexual—young killer has never much cared for rules. The only orders he follows are Battista’s, whether on the killing field or on his knees, eagerly submissive at Battista’s feet.
But Silvio has needs Battista can’t fill, and he’s cast his black-eyed gaze on Stefano. A fake break-in, an even faker attack, and Silvio is exactly where he wants to be: strung up at Stefano’s mercy, driving the older Mafioso toward urges he’s spent his whole life repressing. Stefano resists, but when the Russian mob invades his territory and forces him to seek aid, Gianbattista’s price brings Stefano face to face once more with Silvio—and his darkest desires.

Tina’s Quick Bite

Before I started reading the Dark Soul series I already knew that was always attracted to dark and wounded souls. The powerful, skillful writing of Aleks Voinov kept me on my toes pulling me ever more into the book and I had no other choice than to witness everything up close.

Stefano, who first seems to be so “innocent” is living in a brutal mafia world. You think Silvio would have an easy job seducing him and destroying his loving relationship with his wife Donata but Stefano isn't weak at all. And SIlvio, oh Silvio ~ hot, sexy and so confident, but deep under the surface has his vulnerabilities.

Read this series and you had better buckle up as you'll be in for one hell of a ride.

Muscling Through by JL Merrow

Rating ~ 5 Stars

Synopsis

The bigger they come, the harder they fall... in love.
Cambridge art professor Larry Morton takes one, alcohol-glazed look at the huge, tattooed man looming in a dark alley, and assumes he’s done for. Moments later he finds himself disarmed—literally and figuratively. And, the next morning, he can’t rest until he offers an apology to the man who turned out to be more gentle than giant.
Larry's intrigued to find there's more to Al Fletcher than meets the eye; he possesses a natural artistic talent that shines through untutored technique. Unfortunately, no one else seems to see the sensitive soul beneath Al’s imposing, scarred, undeniably sexy exterior. Least of all Larry's class-conscious family, who would like nothing better than to split up this mismatched pair.
Is it physical? Oh, yes, it’s deliciously physical, and so much more—which makes Larry’s next task so daunting. Not just convincing his colleagues, friends and family that their relationship is more than skin deep. It’s convincing Al.
Contains comic misunderstandings, misuse of art materials, and unexpected poignancy.

Mark’s Quick Bite

This short story was seriously sweet and cute. It also had me laughing in many places with that very subtle humour that I've learned to love from J. L. Merrow. I loved the main character Al, in his very "simple" ways and thoughts I found his character quite endearing and enlightening. I really loved the use of language from the author to bring across the uneducated chav, again all accents ringing clear in my ears.

Shattered Glass by Dani Alexander

13420351

Rating ~ 5 Stars

Synopsis

A male prostitute, a mangy cat, a murder and a maniacal mix-up that threatens his career, his impending marriage and his life. Nothing is going as planned for Austin Glass.
Austin — seems to have it all. At least on the surface. A loving fiancee. A future with the FBI and a healthy sized trust fund. He also has a grin and a wisecrack for every situation. But the smile he presents to everyone hides a painful past he’s buried too deeply to remember. And his quips mask bitterness and insecurity. Austin has himself and most of the whole world fooled. Until he meets someone who immediately sees him better than he sees himself.
As events unfold and Austin’s world unravels, he finds himself pushed into making quick life-changing decisions. But can he trust Peter or what’s happening between them when each meeting seems to be just a series of volatile reactions?

Macky’s Quick Bite

Okay so I now own this book in paperback, in kindle form and on audio...that should tell you something, like I might just be a wee bit obsessed with it? LOL. No, seriously...this was one of those books that as soon as I opened it up and started reading, bells started ringing...you know, the ones that tell you you've just hit the jackpot! Originally found by chance when I was just searching through Amazons m/m section, two years ago for a ridiculously low price, It blew me away the first time and even just writing about it today, it still puts a big satisfied smile on my face.

I love this book so much. Its funny, sensual, sexy, quirky, compelling and a real attention grabber. Multi layered and full of twists and turns the crime element and suspense is just as awesome as the unusual romance that develops between straight, drily witty, self deprecating cop Austin and the cold, manipulative but beautiful, red haired, bunny slipper wearing, rent boy, Peter! OMG! He's like a heat seeking missile! The way that Austin obsessively pursues him from the moment he sets eyes on him, just had me glued to the book. At times it had me in stitches. I laughed out loud at the banter between the two of them, but at the same time there were times when I was on the edge of my seat as layers get peeled away, and secrets are revealed that pulled my heartstrings so tight they nearly snapped! I adored the chemistry between these two.. It sizzled and oozed sexual tension. My book heaven! And then a shout out to some amazing supporting characters whose importance in the story also made this the standout out book for me that it is. I think every new m/m convert should add this to their list and every seasoned reader who hasn't got around to it yet should get to it ASAP. Just fabulous!

Screwing the System by Josephine Myles

Rating ~ 4 Stars

Synopsis

He’s nobody’s bitch. Until he gets a ride on the bitch seat.
Forced to apply for a job he doesn’t want, Cosmo Rawlins has only one aim in mind: fail the interview and get back to making music. Except his attempt to shock the older, sharp-suited Alasdair Grant doesn’t have the desired effect.
Instead of getting thrown out of the office by flaunting an interest in BDSM, Cosmo finds himself on his knees, apologizing to the sexy, good-looking Top.
Alasdair has more important things on his mind than training a novice sub, especially a rebellious bad boy like Cosmo. But there’s something beneath the younger man’s defiant attitude that’s too intriguing to ignore.
As Alasdair takes Cosmo in hand—and for a wild ride on his Harley—he becomes obsessed with bending the young rocker to his will, both in and out of bed. Until he goes one demand too far, and Cosmo is gone in a cloud of dust. Forcing Alasdair to admit that earning Cosmo’s loyalty—and love—will involve the toughest challenge he’s ever faced.
Product Warnings
This title contains an overbearing Top with a less-than-glamorous job, a rebellious brat who refuses to call him sir, and a total lack of high-end BDSM clubs or playrooms. Expect floggings over the kitchen table instead.

Monique’s Quick Bite

When you start a book and you get treated to an image of the Dom having George Clooney good looks, wears leather, has tattoos and rides a Harley… Yowza!! you know you are in for a treat!! The tale unfolds from both characters POV, and Ms Myles totally gave us two characters that were both believable and with very distinct personalities. The writing was excellent and had me engrossed from the beginning, being British I so got Cosmo’s snarky sense of humour and he had me laughing on more than one occasion, in fact he just had me smiling all the way through I just loved him so much. Alasdair is a more intense character, stoically guarded and aloof, the complete opposite end of the spectrum from Cosmo. It was a compelling and intense read, the sex was sizzling and  Alistair proved to be a tummy tingling, drop to your knees all powerful Dom.

I love Josephine Myles style of writing, and when two characters stay with you even though I read this book well over 12 months ago, for me, that is a sure sign of a must read.
