Daylight Again (Hell or High Water #3) by SE Jakes Blog Tour & Giveaway

DA

It’s Release Day!!! Book 3, Daylight Again from this outstanding series Hell or Highwater by SE Jakes is released TODAY!!! I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love this series, and the characters SE Jakes has gifted us with her writing …although I am sure Prophet will tell you it’s all him! SE Jakes is an author who has been a favourite of mine for a very long time, and in my opinion she just keeps getting better and better, with Daylight Again, proving once again what a remarkably talented author she is. I am so pleased… well, that’s putting it a little mildly, as I’m sure you don’t want to hear about my crazy fan girl dancing, so lets go for extremely excited that SE is with us here today…

Welcome SE Jakes!!!

Thanks so much to Monique and the whole crew here at Sinfully Sexy for hosting me this week for the release of Daylight Again! It’s book 3 in the Hell or High Water series, and it’s the return of Prophet and Tommy. And Mal. And Cillian. And, as usual, some surprises.

I really love returning to the world of Extreme Escapes Ltd. All of the men who inhabit it are just so strong and sarcastic and they break my heart so badly, I want to wrap them up and hide them from the world. So I sit there and wait and listen, and let them tell me their stories. And I make sure I tell their story the way they need it told. And that’s the greatest part of this whole job. The men in my head tell me stories and I do my best to do them justice, and then I share them with you. And I seriously have the most enthusiastic readers, and that simply makes the whole experience so incredible all around. I can’t thank you guys enough for all you’ve done for this series—word of mouth is really everything for a book and you’ve embraced them and shared them and laughed and cried with me.

Because I definitely go through the same gamut of emotions as I’m writing that you have when you’re reading. There are points when things happen that I’m like, “holy shit no!” and I have no one to tell. Sarah (my Riptide editor) always tells people that I keep the story from her too—half the time that’s because I don’t know what’s going to happen and the other half, because I need her to go in clean and see her reaction. So getting to watch all your reactions, I get to relive the roller coaster.

I look back now and think, there was no way to put all of what’s happening in this series into a single book. But I really like being able to give you all an ending point (although I realize that with some series that’s not always possible) — and, of course, promise you the HEA we’ve been working toward.

In order to be entered in the drawing, all you need to do is weigh in on series books—favorite part of getting invested in a series? You can tell Prophet how much you like his series (because you know he likes that). And you can mention some of your favorite series too.

Synopsis

Before Prophet Drews can have a future, he must first put his past to rest.

Prophet Drews is a man on the edge, and he’s pulling Tom Boudreaux, his partner on the job and in real life, right over with him. When his old CO calls in a favor, Prophet asks Tom to join the off-the-grid rescue. But the mission raises all of Prophet’s old ghosts: CIA assassins, the terrorist Sadiq, and most importantly, John—traitor, former teammate, and Prophet’s first love.

To help bury those ghosts for good, Prophet and Tom gather the members of Prophet’s former SEAL team . . . and a spook named Cillian who’s been tailing Prophet for years. In the process, Prophet is forced to face his team’s shifting loyalties, ghosts who refuse to stay dead, and scariest of all, his own limitations.

With everyone’s lives in danger, Prophet and Tom must unravel a tangled knot of secrets, including their own. Prophet must decide how much to reveal to Tom, while Tom must decide how far he’s willing to go to help Prophet lay his ghosts to rest.

  1. I just picked up the first book after a friend recommended the series to me. I'm looking forward to reading it.

  2. I read Daylight Again just a few days ago and phew! I am still blown away!
    I love getting invested in series - it brings you all the emotions (both good and bad) and you learn the characters on a completely different level, which I just adore. I also love when there are spin-offs to my beloved series, so the characters I have grown to love makes cameo in other books. :) and the side characters from the main series are some I can grow fond of, too.

    Besides 'Men of Honor' and 'ExE, ltd.', I (naturally) love Abigail Roux' 'Cut & Run' and the spin-off 'Sidewinder'.
    Another is Jet Mykles' 'Heaven Sent' and 'Indigo Knights' (where the third book is estimated for June 3rd!!).

  3. Aside from the Men of Honor Series and Hell or High Water series, some of my other favorite series are: Cut and Run, any series by JP Barnaby (Survivor and Little Boy lost series), SJD Peterson (Whispering Pines and Guards of Follsom), Amy Lane (Keeping promise rock), Mickey B Ashling (Polio Series) and anything Rachel Haimowitz (Cartel series).

  5. That color eyeball is kind of freaky. I love series because we can get a chance (doesn't always happen) to get to know characters better particularly those series where the main characters stay the same versus the rotating new main couple.

  7. Loved, loved, loved, Daylight Again! Devoured it in one sitting and now I'm slowly working my way through the book for a second time. Just sort of taking it slower and savoring it more. Truly letting everything sink in.

    My favorite part of a series is how hopelessly addicted I become to the series, the characters, and the author. I tend to get a bit possesive want to claim certain characters to myself. My favorite series as of right now include: Men of Honor, Hell or High Water, and Dirty Deeds.

  8. I love to read a good series. I can get immersed in the familiar world and keep track of earlier characters while I get to know new ones. Favourites are Men of Honour and Hell or high Water , I just love Prophet and Tommy. I also enjoy the Cut and Run series by Abigail Roux , though I'm a couple behind on that one and need to catch up!

  13. I love the bigger story arcs that a series of books can give you. I feel like it lets an author really stretch out and give a better backdrop, deeper characters and more complex plot. And yes, I do adore the Hell or High Water series for the slow build romance and character development as the series has progressed. ;)

    Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.

  14. I love reading series. It gives me more time with the characters I love and sometimes even with the secondary characters. I haven't read this series yet, even if these books are on my TBR list.

  16. This has been one of my absolute favorite series. I love the relationship between Prophet and Tommy plus their relationship with all the other guys. Each book has just gotten better and better, getting more detailed info on their pasts and futures. I especially love that each of the series interact with the others so not only do we get the new stories but some of the old favorites. Can't wait for more.

  18. Besides my favorite PITAs (Namely Prophet and Mal... and yes, all you wonderful other characters who put up with and love those two crazy men, from both series ;) ) I also love Abi Roux's boys, the boys in Heidi Cullinan's Special Delivery series, the boys in the Tucker Springs series... Okay, yes. I'm a series whore. There are SO many other great series out there, and I love pretty much all of them. Why? Because I'm never ready for a book to end. I always want more. I always want more of the story and more hints about the not-so-main characters and more of the fantastic chemistry that my favorite writers give their men. Yes, Prophet, I see you pouting. No, it's not all about you, but I did say you're one of my favorite Pains. Besides... if I was all about you, Tom would get jealous, and I like the guy.

  19. Holy Hannah, SE!! I'm more in love with the guys now than I was before. You sure do tell a WONDERFUL Story and these guys must drive you crazy with all that's going on in their lives. I didn't want the book to be over and now I'm impatiently waiting for the next one!!

    Great Job!! My Monday was wasted at work. I really didn't do much!!

  21. Series are more fun the stand alone books. You can get deeper into the characters and their worlds. See what really drives their stories and also have a supporting cast that easily expands their world.

    Some of my other favorite series are:
    Assassin/Shifters by Sandrine Gasq-Dion;
    Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs;
    The Rockers by Terri Ann Browning;
    Conquest series by S.J. Frost;
    Mates series by Cardeno C;
    Blackcreek series by Riley Hart.

  22. Usually, I have no patience waiting for the slower release of a series or collection, but, I find myself accruing quite a few lately. I'm a long time sci-fi fan, so, nothing new there. I will sometimes put the books on my wish list and wait for the series to be complete before I purchase them.

  23. This is my favourite book in the series so far. I loved all the romantic moments between Tommy & Prophet. They have come so far!!

  24. I haven't started this series yet (hangs head in shame) but I've worked it into my reading plan for very very soon! All my GRs friends are raving about Tommy & Prophet...I have to find out what I'm missing.

  31. I love reading books in a series but hate waiting on the next installment. I'm really enjoying this series.

  32. I love series! It's so nice to be invested in the same characters from book to book, even if the main characters from one are just minor in the next, it's all good, because I still get to follow their journey. ^_^

    I just won the first book in this series, and it's on my TBR list. I've also just started Free Falling, which is my first ever SE Jakes book, and I really like it so far! ^_^

  33. I've got the first book in the series and I'm looking forward to reading it. I love series books you can read about characters from their first meeting and get involved with their lives as the series goes on.
    Just a couple of my favourite series:
    Josh Lanyon Dangerous Ground,
    Kendall McKenna Recon Diaries
    Amy Lanes Promise Rock.

  34. I love when a series gets me hooked it's practically a promise of countless hours of awesome new reading material, one book at a time.
    I'm very happy I picked up the Hell or Highwater series based on a friend's recommendation and book three is my favorite so far. Though I'm biased since I've read Dirty Deeds in between book 2 and 3 and that certainly made me enjoy the book even more.

    My top favorite series are The Parasol Protectorate, Cut & Run and The Psy Changeling series.

  35. With a good series you become part of the book. You learn about the different aspects of individual characters and get to feel the emotion.

    ReplyDelete
  36. my favorite part of series is revisiting the characters in previous books (if the main characters of the new books are different) and seeing development on their relationship. I am starting Catch a Ghost, and have actually purchased the next installment and the books in the universe. I can't wait to devour them!

    ReplyDelete
  37. The best part of picking up a new series (for myself at least) is falling in love with the characters. Tommy and Proph had my heart from the moment they met, and they've not let go. Can't wait to see where they go from here!

    ReplyDelete
  38. One day, was browsing Riptide Publishing and found "Catch A Ghost", when I read the Blurb I fell in love, but when I went to buy it, is was a presale! I bought (the wait was awful) it and thank my luck for it, it is amazing. It is one of those books I can't stop reading.It's funny, it's sexy and has angry people I can't just not love! I recomend!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I love this series and hope I get a chance to read this soon!

  40. I was given the opportunity to read Catch a Ghost, Long Time Gone, and Dirty Deeds for review via NetGalley. (My reviews are posted on Goodreads and Amazon.) I devoured them, wanted to punch Tom at the end of Catch a Ghost, tore my hair out over Cillian and Mal, and was melted by Long Time Gone. I promptly bought Free Falling, which was just...*sigh*. Then I bought the entire Men of Honor series, because Proph, Mick, and lots of others pop in occasionally, and I highlight it every damn time they show up. Everything that makes us love a good M/M erotic romance is in these books.

    ReplyDelete
  41. My favourite part of getting invested in a series is falling in love with the characters. It's not so much that I need to know what happens to them, but that I want to watch them do things, grow, conquer hurdles, solve mysteries, fall in love, get silly, get sad... you get my drift. :) And yes, Proph, I adore your series and I adore you. *LOL*

    Other series that I love are, Cut & Run by Abi Roux, of course. The Charm of Magpies series by KJ Charles. Griffin and Whyborne by Jordan L. Hawk. And The Special Delivery series by Heidi Cullinan is a special favourite. Amy Lane's Promise Rock series. Although, SD and PR are a different TYPE of series from the others, their focus being on different characters in the same circles instead of following the same main characters from adventure to adventure.

  42. I love reading series. I have such varied tastes in books, my favorite series Hell or Highwater, Pendergast, Outlander, Cut & Run, Black Dagger Brotherhood, Psy/Changeling, The Charm of Magpies... and many more series to discover.
